I got to elevate my beauty (LOL) at Pur Artistry in DTC just yesterday and must share my experience. This was a Christmas gift from my daughter which I finally got a chance to use it this month (late January of 2025.) I'd heard about the Japanese Head & Scalp therapy more than several times in the past before my virgin experience yesterday. And to experience something so revolutionary (that many have been talking about), my anticipation was so high. And it did not disappoint. The DTC location is in the heart of it. As this neighborhood has seen so many renovations and development, this modern-looking salon's birth in it is so fitting. The inside of the salon is so clean and beautiful. It also smells wonderful. Once I was greeted upfront, another person later came and offered me a small bottle of water. She then took me to the first room (on the right) for a scalp analysis. To my surprise, I was told that I had oily scalp (I'm very middle aged with driest skin/scalp on earth due to Colorado's climate so being told that my scalp was actually oily was a sure surprise; I took that as a compliment; LOL!!) She then gave me the rundown of the treatment I'd had been gifted. Sounded like a full course menu for sure. My technician finally came to the room to greet me. Her name is Vy. She was very sweet and kind in her demeanor. She took me to the changing room so I could get into a body wrap and a robe. I put all my personal belongingd in one of the lockers. I was finally ready for today's special pampering experience. Vy started out with the essential oil that I picked upon arrival: Orange. She put at least a few to several drops of it into her palms, rub it gently and placed it in front of my nose for me to inhale. What a way to start my ultimate treatment. Next came the scalp exfoliation to remove any/all dead skin cells. I believe she used at least a few different products to do so. The Double Cleanse was next. Whatever she used (shampoo) to cleanse my entire head felt like it stripped away all the gunk my oily scalp had. While washing, she made all kinds of circulatory motions using both hands to stimulate the root and blood circulation. What comes after a good shampoo? Conditioner!! This truly nourished and hydrated my scalp as well as my hair. A thorough rinsing should not be undermined. She not only used the regular extendable shower head to rinse it but also did she use the half halo shaped rain drop machine for a gentle rinse. By this time, I was in my dream as everything was so relaxing. Once everything was done, she wrapped my very wet head with a towel so I could go back to the changing room to change into my clothes. Once out, she took me to the final part of the treatment: blow dry (this was done in the same room when the other lady did my scalp analysis so you go to two different rooms for this whole treatment and service.) While the blow dry, she gave me a complimentary light snack for me to savor (a fruit bowl with a French madeleine.) This was like a first-class service! The end result was so amazing. Another scalp analysis revealed that all the oiliness I saw at the beginning was gone. And the shine on my hair was something I had never seen before. Usually, my hair looks very frizzy after a shampoo and a good amount of conditioner (no matter what product I use I had never achieved this kind of shine on my hair.) This simply stunned me. This whole treatment of a little over an hour was a gift (like I said earlier. ) If you bought the same thing I had, it would easily be $140+. Not cheap alright but for this exclusive treatment experience to elevate you to the next level or higher, doing in here and there may not be so daunting. With that said, I will definitely do it again. Thanks, Vy for the experience. The day after I am writing this review, my hair still smells wonderful. I would hate to wash it as I can comb through it without any struggle as it's still so silky.

Let's start out by saying overall the customer service was bad. I waited in the lobby for 20 minutes before anyone even acknowledged I was there. I was taken to a table, was given no consultation or asked what I wanted and my eyelashes are now ruined. My eyebrows look like a toddler waxed and colored them - I got the 2005 apostrophe eyebrow special apparently- and when I asked her to fix my lashes because they're too curled and laying flat on my eye lid she said "no they're great just brush them down" After I insisted she fix them... two more perm applications later and my lashes are still curling up under my eyelid. I consulted another salon and was told if I put any more perm solution on my lashes to try to relax them that they'll break off. $200 later and I'm left with ruined brows and lashes.

We booked the 60 minute head spa for their one year birthday promotion, and this may be the best thing I've done in Denver recently. I know I love head massages and getting a shampoo, but this was next level. It was so relaxing and wonderful. My hair is so incredibly soft. The price is a little steep, so I'm glad we went for the 20 percent off promo. With that said, well worth it. Just maybe more of a special celebration treatment. Already trying to find an excuse to go back...

The service itself was performed well, and I was satisfied with the quality of the wax. However, the subsequent events have caused significant disappointment and lead me to strongly advise caution to other male clients. The day after my service, I was unexpectedly contacted by the manager and informed that I was banned from the establishment due to an "inappropriate conversation" with the esthetician. This notification was perplexing, as the conversation in question was initiated by the esthetician's small talk. During the service, Reagan asked about my weekend plans. When I initially mentioned that the plans were personal, she indicated that was acceptable. I then shared that my wife and I planned to visit The Scarlet Ranch, a known lifestyle club. As my wife and I are open about our lifestyle, I was willing to engage in general, surface-level discussion. Reagan continued to actively participate, asking multiple follow-up questions about the club's atmosphere, membership fees, types of events, and clientele. I was careful to keep my responses strictly professional and non-sexual, focusing on logistical and social aspects. At no point during this sustained conversation did the esthetician indicate that she felt uncomfortable or ask to change the subject. Therefore, receiving a call informing me I was banned--and being told by the manager that the conversation was "inappropriate to have while getting a male Brazilian"--was a significant surprise. It seems highly unprofessional to ban a paying customer without the service provider communicating any discomfort during the interaction. Feedback on Communication and Professionalism: For the management and staff: Professional protocol dictates that if a client's conversation makes a staff member uncomfortable, the staff member must clearly and politely redirect or end the topic of conversation. Customers cannot be expected to know a provider's boundaries, especially when the provider is actively engaging and asking follow-up questions. A simple, "I prefer to keep our conversation limited to the service," would have been sufficient and professional. This lack of professional communication has resulted in the loss of a repeat client and has created an unnecessarily unpleasant experience. I urge management to review their policies on staff interaction and boundary setting. Recommendation for Male Clients: Due to this experience, I do not recommend this establishment for males seeking a Brazilian wax. While the technique was good, the overall lack of staff maturity and professionalism in handling client conversations is concerning. Prospective clients might consider alternatives like European Wax Center for a lower-cost option. I hope this feedback leads to better communication practices so that other clients do not feel targeted or confused in the future.

I also expressed my sensitive skin worries, before the service and she acknowledged that, but still used the wax anyways. The skin above and below my eyes was red and peeling for two days after the service. When I asked about it, all I was told was to put Benadryl on my skin. Cortisone near one's eyes is not a great idea from a medical standpoint. It was too late to stop her as I didn't know what she was doing til she pulled the wax linen strip off. I thought she was still using the template when she was touching my face. I also had to ask for the color fill although it was included in the price. $55 is very high for the factory like service I received. I felt as though my service was not individualized and everyone going to Shante gets the same exact procedure no matter what you pay for. The only reason, this was not one star, was because it was very easy to book on the website. Other than that, there is no positives with booking at this beauty Lounge. Many places do a much better job, and cost 20 to 30% less. I definitely will not be back.

Enter: JACK! This is how desperate I had become. I saw a beautiful woman, with beautiful hair & make-up, and I befriended her at the grocery store. Then when my last hair stylist failed, including burning my hair off with an ouchy, too hot, Dyson hair dryer, and hurting my scalp, still healing from Mohs surgery - in my hair line, above my forehead - I reached out to this woman, who had previously provided me with both hair colorist & aesthetician referrals, back when I was considering coloring my hair, before I learned it was not in alignment with my health goals. Long story. I was very suspicious, as I've been spoiled with posh hair stylists properly cutting my hair throughout my entire life, so yes, I'm high maintenance. I read Jack's bio. I was extremely impressed, but still scared. I came in armed with all my SF hair stylist's instructions on how to cut my hair, into my preferred style, translated into hair stylist/artist language. Jack had the skills, I could tell, as he did not need the instructions, gratefully. We are now in a "business as usual (BAU)" hair state, after it took a few hair cuts to correct the other 3 hair stylists - who were basically colorists - hair cutting uneven mistakes, where they'd given me shelf-like layers, that were neither long, nor blended. I'm so thrilled I can now trust Jack, tell him I want my "usual," and ask for his recommendation on the length I need trimmed, to keep my hair healthy, as we play around with regular cadence (e.g., every 8-12 weeks). I also love that he & Arrow use my same hair care products, from my salon(s) in San Francisco, CA. And I love that he recommended me a home hair dryer, when I saw his L'Ange, given I have the same brand to curl/straighten my hair. The vibe is lovely, but I'm not here for the vibe. I'm here for hair *ARCHITECTURE*, because if you get a properly architected/artistic-perfection hair cut, you don't have to do much to it at home, and can enjoy your leisure time. :-) P.s. I'll need to post a photo the next time I wear make-up, and am photo-ready, after Jack cuts my hair. Will do!

When I…read morearrived, there was another client wrapping up their hair cut, and Connie, who was handling my color, had her trainee assist with me. While I didn't mind the trainee's help, it quickly became apparent that she was doing most of my hair--she handled half the root touch-up, the toning, washing, and half the blow-dry while Connie juggled another client at the same time next to me. I wasn't sure who was really in charge of my appointment. The biggest issue came at checkout when I was surprised with an additional $71 charge for a blow-dry. I had no prior explanation of this fee, and when I asked about it, I was told I could've left with wet hair if I didn't want the blow-dry. This charge seemed unreasonable, especially after already paying $125 for the root touchup. ($125 for a root touch up with no blow dry?!?!) The lack of transparency was very annoying. The staff tried to upsell me throughout my visit--suggesting brow services and conditioning treatments. While I understand they want to offer additional services, it felt a bit pushy and made the experience feel more like a cheap salon rather than a professional setting. While the color itself was decent, I'd recommend making sure you ask about all fees and services upfront if you decide to go. It seems like communication and transparency could be improved.
