This place was pretty good ! Such a cute little pizza place. Menu isn't too overwhelming. The pizza dough is different, a little chewy but crunchy at the same time. It's good! Parking was also pretty easy. The zucchini fries and Brussels were great. The only thing I didn't like that I got was the spinach salad. It needed way more flavor. Ot tasted like an onion, anchovy salad. I wouldn't recommend it lol. Our server was awesome. He was a little bit of an older, white , gentleman. Pupatella is a welcome addition to the West Springfield restaurant scene, especially after the recent loss of Coal Fire Pizza and Austin Grill. The stand-alone building in the Old Keene Mill Shopping Center has in previous incarnations been a Hardee's and Tiyaki Grill. Pupatella has done an outstanding job in renovating the restaurant space! Kudos! Tables and banquettes are roomy, lighting is good, and the tile work around the order counter and pizza ovens is very attractive. Someone went to a lot of work painting the decorative graffiti on two of the walls. There is small full bar with just a few seats. Staff were welcoming on our first visit and explained their ordering system. Patrons order at the counter and take a number to their seat. The pizza is brought to your table. I ordered a Custom Pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni and Kalamata olives. (For custom pizzas, you select the sauce and cheese.) My wife ordered tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, Nonna's Meatballs and roasted red peppers. Pupatella tells us that they serve Neapolitan style pizza. Indeed the pizza is in the European style, meaning it is a single 11 inch pizza meant to be eaten as your meal. The ingredients were fresh and delicious. My only reservation was that the pizza was on the soggy side. If Pupatella were to make the pizza a bit more crispy and solid it would be wonderful. We'll definitely be back. Mixed feelings about this place, especially this location. I was excited when this location opened up since we wouldn't have to make the rare trek to Arlington. In spite of being a New York style pizza fan, I can appreciate Neapolitan pizza for what it offers. The crust is very thin and softer. It also seems relatively "healthier" than other styles since it's not laden with grease. We usually do carry out from this location, which is where the problem comes in. Online ordering is available, but no special requests or modifications are possible through their system. Therefore, many times I try to call in my order. The last three times I called them, I was unable to get through. The recording says they are busy and please leave a message or call back. Each time I call back, I get the same message. When I try to leave a message, the recording says voice box is full. This time, it didn't even give me any options; it just said voice box is full and hung up. And each of the last three times I couldn't get through, I've come into the restaurant to see it pretty empty, not busy and no phones ringing. I usually come before the rush so pizza comes out quickly. The pizza is decent. Because of the thinness of the dough, you are only able to have three toppings per pizza, which is fine. I like a simpler pizza. Toppings are fresh but could use a boost of flavor. I always have to sprinkle a little salt, and it helps bring out of the flavors. The space is bright with several tables and some bar type seating against the front glass wall. We have eaten in once around 5ish when the sun was going down. The sun came through the glass windows and made it impossible to sit facing the door. They have no shades so I had to change my seat and sit side by side my husband with our backs to the glaring sun. Pupatella is normally good pizza with at least adequate service. Not this one. We've tried it three times. Each time the pizza was marginal on quality. But the service is what really disappointed. We didn't once get what we ordered. The last time they forgot a pizza. I called to complain and was offered a free pizza on my next order. There will not be a "next order".
