Great food, and good people! Don't let the "travel center" part fool you... this is the REAL DEAL!

Punjabi Rasoli, in Baldwin Travel Plaza.

What a surprise to find tasty Indian food in a truck stop just off I-94 at Baldwin, Wisconsin! The setting is like any truck stop, but the food is excellent. You can order from a steam table or off a decent-size menu, either for take out or dine in. Good service, cooked to order if you want it. Very good food, and not too hot, either.

It's pretty easy to miss it since it's in a truck stop, but they're really good at what they do.

Fires with spice, super nice. Service was super quick ordering and getting the food. I placed a mobile order for pickup at the location closest to me, which happens to be on the University of Minnesota campus. Although I had never been to this location before, I chose it for convenience (which, unfortunately, turned out to be not convenient at all and actually ruined our evening). When we arrived, my husband dropped me off to go inside to pick up the food, and meanwhile, he was circling the block waiting for me to pick up the order as no parking was available. After a considerable wait, he called to check on me because it was taking so long. There were only two workers in the front: a busy female employee at the register and a male employee who appeared to be responsible for passing out food. I stood at the to-go area, staring at my food sitting there for about 10 minutes while the male worker walked past me several times, avoiding eye contact. I began to wonder if I was in the wrong area or if there was some unusual procedure at this location since the worker didn't acknowledge me, so I wandered over to the cash register area, but there was a huge line out the door at this point. I returned to the pass-out counter and watched the male worker talk with someone in the back for a few more minutes. When he finally finished, I asked if he was working, and he responded with "What?" I repeated my question, explaining that I was there to pick up my food. He clearly heard me and walked away with a smirk on his face, then started bagging someone else's food and passed out several other orders, while my order continued to sit there for about 10 more minutes. Meanwhile, my husband was getting increasingly frustrated as he continued to circle the block three times in rush hour traffic, all the while our food was sitting behind the counter being held hostage by one of the most inconsiderate and disrespectful workers I've ever encountered. I was just trying to grab a quick to-go order. After being ignored, I snapped a photo of the employee, and only then did he finally help me (you can see my order sitting there behind his shoulder, getting cold while he handed someone else their hot food). I wonder how much longer it would have taken him to help me if I hadn't taken his photo? Never, maybe. He finally asked me what I was there for, and I had to repeat my name twice. He eventually handed me my order without any apology for the wait. This employee's behavior was completely unacceptable, especially during dinner time, which is just shocking. I also find it personally offensive, as a former restaurant worker putting myself through college - I just can't believe customer service has gotten this shameful. I encourage you to review the footage from the restaurant as it's truly a sight to see. I believe he should be fired, because he clearly knew better and was being rude on purpose. It's important to understand that your customers are not just college students who will tolerate this kind of service. I love Cane's, but I will drive out of my way to avoid this location in the future.

The employee running the register was also bright and polite. He recited the order back to us since I'd swapped out the coleslaw in my Box Combo for another Texas toast and added an additional dipping sauce (it's too good to spread out a single dipping container across four fingers). They got me my lemonade right away, and our order wasn't long behind that. As usual, the food was piping hot and delicious! This location also has two all-gender bathrooms for use (I was presenting very non-binary while we were there, so I genuinely appreciated this fact that eliminated any thoughts of "Are people gonna be weirded out if they see me go in here?"). They have some fun holiday decor up already. I was admiring the tree with all the cute Cane's plushie ornaments. (They do have Christmas merch for sale too.)

I'm not one to pick Raising Cane's as my number one choice for fast food because all they serve is chicken. This particular visit I had a coupon, so I decided to give it a whirl. Prior to this visit, my other visit was likely when this location first opened.... Whenever that was. Although, there was a long line in the drive thru, it moved quickly as expected. Menu was very well lit up and drive-thru staff were upbeat and friendly. I modified my order to not include any coleslaw as I wouldn't eat it, so no use getting it to waste. My meal was served piping hot and pretty tasty.

In case you don't know, this is a fast-casual restaurant with very few menu items. Chicken tenders. That's pretty much it. You can have them in sandwich form or not. You have three sides to choose from - fries, Texas toast, and cole slaw. They have lemonade and iced tea in addition to soda. And they have one kind of dipping sauce. Yes, just one. They have hung their entire business plan on the experience of dipping straightforward, high-quality, freshly-cooked chicken tenders in a creamy, delicious sauce. And it absolutely is enough for me. I order on the app a few minutes in advance and they always have it ready for me on the shelf. I then pick a table in their excitedly-decorated dining room and enjoy the experience I'd probably been craving all day. Counter service is visibly present, congenial, and hard-working. Coming here is always a treat and you should do it sometimes.

I literally had to great her with a smile and say hello face to face 3x before she smiled and said hi back. Fast forward to my order. I placed it I substituted all 3 coleslaws for extra toast as my kiddos requested. When I picked up my order and took it to the table my kids were starting to eat their food and told me they were missing their extra bread . I went back to T and she ask me to bring my my whole order to the front I told her my said after my kids started eating already and stood quiet and then I said ok let me take the food away from them. She then said never mind forget it. That's when I asked for her name "May I get your name please. She said My name is T. I said thank you. She continued in front of customers asking if I have a problem with her? Me being a manager before in food and beverage was shocked for her being so confrontational in front of customers like that. I told Her no only because that is not the place to discuss that. She asked for the breads on the fly. I'm waiting for the bread she continues and said if you have a problem or have something to say about me you can ask for my manager. I said ok. Again very UNPROFESSIONAL. When I said No she should have left it alone. When I asked for her name she should have should have just stayed quiet due to the fact that she had a line of customers. I showed my employees when I was in this industry when someone asks for your name let me know if I'm available so I can approach the table while they are here and figure out what's going on and do some customer satisfaction revival to prevent any bad reviews. And if it was for a compliment then Thank Goodness but never become confrontational with a customer I front of other customers as T did bc the lady she was dealing with at that time while acting out her eyes were getting big and I saw she was getting tensed and that's why I chose to leave it alone. Otherwise the place was clean so kudos to them on this!
