Keep better track of which customers came in first to dine in. My party of two was told to a "10-minute" wait which turned to twenty while being 2nd in queue to be seated. A table opened and the hostess skipped the person before us but we redirected for the first to be seated. Another 10 minutes later and a group that came a bit after us was brought to a table for dining in front of our face. What a great place! I have been coming for years but had the pleasure to return with a large group! We did a restaurant faux pas and at the last second had to add two more to our already large party and they made it work with no problem. Service was good and attentive with all of us getting our waters filled multiple times and purchasing several specialty beverages. We also unfortunately all got separate checks (I so appreciate our server) and he got them all correct 100%. Our food was amazing as always and their mango lassi pairs perfectly for a sweet treat throughout. We had the lamb saag and chicken vindaloo and both were so great, portions are very good for the price, we both left with extras. You're able to choose your own spice level per dish and a 3/5 had a nice bit of heat that really enhanced the flavors without being overwhelming. Great experience - a cornucopia of flavors - 5 stars! I haven't had good Indian food in a long time and India Palace didn't disappoint. Every bite of food was great. What a treat! FOOD: We ordered a ton of good. We got beverages, appetizers, soup, a main meal, and dessert. I particularly loved the savory tomato soup with a wonderful Indian twist. My beef josh was excellent. I ordered a heat level of 4 out of 5 and it didn't disappoint. For dessert, my fried milk balls (Gulab Jamul), were interesting and very good. LOCAL CHAIN: Apparently, India Palace is a local chain. The first one originally opened in Roseville. According to the manager, they now have 7 locations throughout the metro. MEMORIZE: We were served by the manager. We ordered a ton of food and drinks, all at one time. Amazingly, he remembered everything perfectly, including the correct amount of spice heat. This is pretty impressive. It's usually something you only see at the fanciest, high end restaurants with the best top level servers. REAL CLOTH: It was a pleasure to eat at a restaurant that actually has cloth table coverings, cloth napkins, glass for drinks, and real ceramics for food. One thing you know for sure: your table is clean because everyone gets a new linen table cloth after each meal. MISTAKE: One of the food runners accidentally mixed up our main entrees when he gave them to us. He actually came out later and sheepishly apologized to us. No big deal...but appreciated. I visited with a friend about 45 minutes before they closed up and the host was happy to let us put in our orders. I ordered the seekh kebab and when asked how spicy I asked for mild. The food came out in about 20 minutes. They let us sit down in some chairs that were lined up 6 ft apart of course. The food came out steaming hot so you already know that it was made fresh to order. The kebab that I ordered came with the kebab meat, veggies, a side of vegetable curry, a slice of lemon, and two sauces on the side: a red sauce (tastes sweet and tangy) and a green sauce (earthly and rounds out the sweetness of the other sauce). If you eat the kebab and veggies by itself, it's pretty underwhelming. But the moment you squeeze the lemon and pour both sauces on, the whole thing transforms into a wonderful blend of heat, sweet and sour. Since I ordered it mild, it wasn't that hot, but you could feel the heat linger on your tongue. At first it didn't look like much in the takeout containers, but I would say that it was a reasonable portion size after you ate all of it. I would recommend that you order a side of rice with it if you're hungry. For $20, I enjoyed the food, but I'm too sure if I would spend the money again since I feel like you can stretch $20 for more food. If you haven't tried an Indian Kebab, feel safe to try this, it was super tasty once you add everything in. read more

I went to India Palace at a busy time on a Sunday evening, yet the service was prompt and friendly. I ordered the dal soup, and while it was piping hot, I was disappointed with the flavor & the texture. The lentils were puréed so much that I didn't actually see or taste them. And, overall, the soup was a little bland. My main course was chicken curry with vegetables and naan. The meal was delicious! The naan was the perfect texture (and heated up nicely the next day). I ordered the curry medium spicy, and it had a good kick, but I could've gone slightly spicier. Given that it was my first time at this establishment I erred on the side of caution. The portion size was huge. I had two healthy servings in the restaurant and enough was left to serve two people for lunch the next day. Definitely good value for the price. The service is good, place and ambience is average but presentable. Despite all this they have sustained their presence and standard. We were seated right away, at 5:15, thinking we had plenty of time before attending a show at 7. An hour and 15 minutes later, still no food and our server never really walked by our table. We ended up sitting there forever and then needed to put our food in to go containers right away so we didn't miss our show. we were so hungry and didn't get to eat and got no discount on our food or any adjustments at all. ugh :( read more
