    Mixed platter, Palov

If you're looking for authentic Afghan food done right, Mazidar Grill is an absolute gem. Everything we tried was deeply flavorful and clearly made with care. The Palov (Kabuli Pulao) is the real deal--perfectly cooked rice, aromatic spices, tender meat, and that signature balance of sweet carrots and raisins. The food platter is a knockout if you want variety: generous portions, beautifully grilled meats, and bold yet balanced seasoning. And the biryani? Straight-up incredible--rich, layered flavors without feeling heavy. What really stood out was how customizable the spice level is. You can keep it mild or turn up the heat without losing depth, which says a lot about how solid the base flavors are. The chickpeas and lentils were another highlight--simple, authentic, and deeply satisfying. Pure comfort food done right. And then there's the butter chicken, which is truly unique here. They use grilled chicken instead of the usual preparation, giving it a smoky, authentic character that sets it apart. Creamy, perfectly spiced, and packed with flavor. The customer service deserves special mention. The owners, Vas and Nas, genuinely go the extra mile to make sure you're taken care of and leave happy. You can feel the pride they take in both the food and the experience. The grocery side is also slowly growing, with Afghan staples and other Asian groceries, which makes it even better for anyone wanting to bring these flavors home. A place with great food, warm hospitality, and heart--you'll want to come back.

Nothing short of a positive experience! They are a small international grocery store with an eatery. The menu is limited and I believe that is because they focus on quality over quantity. I've tried a few dishes from here and all were delicious. My favorite would be the chapli kabobs. They are charred to perfection and I crave them regularly now! Also, the owner is friendly and goes above and beyond for his customers.

Pros: Tasty food, nice staff, great prices. Cons: Horrible location and vibe. It is a truck stop, but the outside is very run down (The inside is fine). A lot of my order was wrong. I think they didn't have all of it in stock or available, but it didn't reflect that online. Since I haven't eaten here before, I also wasn't sure what was incorrect online, a substitution, or a mistake. If you are using the truck stop and going in person to eat, this would be a great option. But as someone who found it online for a dinner take-out, I was disappointed.

They run a buffet lunch on the weekends and bring out fresh paratha and naans to your table which is different than other Indian buffet places in the city and a very welcome addition in my opinion. They had a pretty decent selection of dishes in the buffet including some rare dishes hard to find at other places like beef nihari and paya which is not very common. The food is more Pakistani than Indian. So if you want to try out dishes that are different than your normal Indian fare in most buffets around town, this is a definitely something you should try out. There were a couple of things that stood out from the dishes. The mutton curry and the chickpea curry were really good. The biryani, nihari and paya were ok. There were a bunch of fruits and desserts which were very good. They charge about 20 some dollars for the buffet which might seem a little steep but considering the choices and other prices around town, it is not out of line. The price also includes a soft drink. Overall, I am happy to have a Pakistani restaurant in town and will be going here to support them and would recommend to those that want to try something different. I would say if you like South Asian food, give this spot a try for sure.
