We did take out. We ordered the afghan platter (rice especially was awesome), the dal and chicken 65. Not realizing how large the portions are we ordered additional naan. The food was delicious and portions were more than adequate! Staff were very friendly and helpful. read more

Nothing short of a positive experience! They are a small international grocery store with an eatery. The menu is limited and I believe that is because they focus on quality over quantity. I've tried a few dishes from here and all were delicious. My favorite would be the chapli kabobs. They are charred to perfection and I crave them regularly now! This grocery store also has a food counter that serves a limited amount of dishes, that includes Afghan food. As someone who used to live in Northern Virginia and is pretty familiar with East Bay California, I have been craving good Afghan food. I know that there is Afghan Darbar, but we had a mixed experience there and ended up leaving because much of the menu was unavailable. I will have to try it again one day. BUT, I went because my husband loves chapli kabob and they have it...but actually they ran out that night. The employee who helped me was very kind, and he suggested that I try the goat karahi. Now, I don't necessarily mind goat, but it's not always my favorite. But that day my mind was blown. My husband doesn't like goat, but he didn't even really get to try it. I only had two pieces that night because I had already had dinner, and I only had two pieces because I couldn't stop myself. I went to work the next day and thought about it all day. I went home and ate the rest of it and it was just as delicious reheated. I didn't even reheat it properly. I microwaved it for a minute and a half and then I devoured it like a carnivore. It was delicious. I can't wait to go back. Hopefully this this they'll have chaplis for my husband. My kid also enjoyed his chicken tikka masala. Naan was fine, probably bagged, and I am assuming chai was good, but it was too late for me to drink. The atmosphere is cafe-ish and when I was there it was mostly older Afghan men chatting over tea. I'm wondering a little bit about the previous reviewer's chapli experience but maybe check the Google reviews instead. Green Afghan chutney though ain't salsa verde. read more

Walked in today famished and saw it said "Grille" figured I could get a quick bite. The deli counter was completely empty and all the menu items were goat this and goat that, so I started walking out when a guy stopped me and I told him I was just looking for a quick something. Said he had the best burgers ever so I took the bait. Here's what $18 gets you- (see pics too)- a couple of crispy black charred hockey pucks, a specimen of salsa verde, and two pieces of naan. The meat was so over-cooked I couldn't eat it. Nasty. So one star for pleasantries and another maybe for the grocery/product diversification.
