The food was good but the general vibe and cleanliness of the place was not. Place is a little ominous with basically a warning sign that people get sick from here, spiderwebs, everything looks beat to hell and back, and the restaurant name just exists on taped-up regular printer paper. They also had a sign on how to clean up vomit. That being said, nobody from my group is sick yet (it's been a few hours) and the food really was good. Tried the garlic and chili naan and both were solid, took the waitress' recommendation on the kadai chicken and it hit the spot. Good prices too for the gamble.

Masala dosa ($11), vegan by default. Not bad, not amazing.

Three stars is not a bad review in my book. Kabob's has a couple solid dishes and a few duds. With a name like "Kabob's" you wouldn't expect it be a South Indian-focused menu. The channa masala ($10) and fried eggplant curry ($10) were both good and vegan by default---not too salty or oily and not overcooked. The masala dosa ($11) is vegan by default, and fine, but didn't wow me. That said, take-out dosas are rarely great. The parotta with veg salna ($12) is vegan by default and a rare dish to see. I thought the parotta was too thick and not flaky enough; the salna (which is essentially a vegetable curry) tasted okay, but was salty. The veg kothu parotta ($12) is hard to find and most commonly seen on Sri Lankan and some South Indian restaurant menus. Here it was so salty as to be inedible. I gave up after a few bites. The tandoori roti ($4) is better than the chapathi ($4), but both were fine. The restaurant uses a ton of styrofoam and additionally wraps all its take-out orders in saran wrap, wastefully and without need. That irked me. Lastly, I also ordered a baby corn manchurian ($11), but the dish was unavailable. I had a few weeks of going back and forth with the restaurant and Menufy (the site they use for online ordering) before the refund actually got processed. That was a hassle and unnecessarily complex, but the restaurant did finally get it resolved.

Small strip mall restaurant serving great Indian food! I ordered the Lamb Phaal. It was spiced perfectly. Divine!

Worst service, attitude problem. Ambur biryani is a mediocre but the Curry's and Naans are a combination of plastic and rubber. I would never visit this place again not recommend this.

Inside is nothing fancy, but it was some of the best Indian food I've ever had! Chili chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala were our favorites!

It's a yogurt-based curry with CRISPY pakora in it. I came here thinking "any restaurant can make pakora, it's literally just deep-fried, battered vegetables." This was a mistake I have already lived to regret. Before I describe the food, I'll note that I ordered online and was advised to pick it up in 20-35 minutes. I arrived on the later end of this range. I went into the restaurant and no one was seated inside, but it was a Monday night so maybe that's a quiet day for them. I went up to the counter to pick up my order. There was nobody there but someone came out after I rang the bell. I picked up my order and went home, not thinking to check it. I arrived home with the goods in hand. My mother opened it and gave me a look of disappointment, contempt, and disgust. The pakora was cold, limp, and not battered. It seemed like it was microwaved or even just taken straight out of the fridge. We still made the curry, but it was an abomination. I've never had pakora this bad. If you're looking for Indian food in the metro, go literally anywhere else or my Indian mother will be disappointed in you, too.

Bright paint on the walls with colorful photographs, a slightly raised space with cushions that might be used for a performance, and long tables that invite family-style dining. I chose this spot because I was curious about their "Afghan hamburger," which was sausages, hard boiled eggs, various vegetables, and fries with spicy ketchup in a tortilla-like wrap, exactly as described. The fries were pleasantly crispy, and I enjoyed the spicy ketchup. I wanted and got something different. The wrap came with a generous portion of chutney, perhaps the same mint walnut chutney I've seen elsewhere. I washed it down with salt lassi, which hit the spot for me. It wasn't too salty, and it had fresh cucumber in it. I was a little confused when the prices at the register were slightly higher than the prices on the menu, but it was still reasonably priced, especially these days. It would be great if someone updated the menu prices. I took home some sabzi palak (spinach stew) to go. Even though both the stew and the fresh bread it came with had cooled down by the time I got home, they were delicious! As soon as I finished eating, I ran to my computer to look up a recipe. That stew hit it out of the park. I will never think of spinach in the same way again. Next time we're in the neighborhood, I will definitely take my spouse here.

Most of the food they served looked gorgeous, to the point that some may think they were overshadowing the flavor. But I can confidently say that in terms of flavor, many of the dishes were extremely on point as well. Items like the blackened chicken, the tomato dal, the butter chicken, and the palak paneer were very flavorful. The blackened chicken was juicy and tender, too, on top of containing abundant flavor. The samosas contained an abundant amount of potatoes and peas. I could taste a good amount of tomatoes and coconut milk in the butter chicken, which was very creamy. I could also taste very strong garam masala in the palak paneer, which was a great thing. The butter naan was an excellent addition because the flavorful curry definitely needed more than rice to evoke its full potential, and naan bread was perfect for such. In terms of dessert, the mango mousse was incredible! Its soft but solid texture made it very easy to break up and consume, while maintaining its shape without collapsing. The saffron, milk powder, and cream altogether offered a very integral taste that had lots of depth. I honestly want to try all the desserts on their menu, too, like the coconut pannacotta and the basundi pistachio tiramisu, because they both looked amazing on the menu. While this establishment is not one of those places you visit that often, it is perfect for a date night because it has clean and relatively fancy decor along with flavorful food and can evoke a romantic vibe. I will for sure return here in the future and highly recommend it for those looking for quality Indian restaurants!
