Aroma Indian Cuisine makes super delicious Indian food at reasonable prices. We had the Chicken Seekh Kabob and the Chicken Vindaloo and both were excellent. The flavors are rich, well-spiced, and really satisfying. The portions are very generous too, which makes it great value for the price. It's very easy to order takeout or delivery, and everything travels well. The restaurant itself isn't my first choice for dining in and from what I could tell not very popular as a sit down, but they have great takeout service. The service is very friendly and helpful, which makes the experience even better. Landed on this local family-owned Indian restaurant as we were searching for Indian food. It was a little busy on a random Wednesday for dine-in and take out which shows the place is good. There was only one server running around so it was a tat of a wait but he was very nice, calm, and happy (props to the waiter). Chicken Samosa- packed with a lot of chicken. Came with a sweet and sour tamarind like sauce and a green spicy sauce. I liked the tamarind more but did dip both. It was hot and crunch shell. Lollipop chicken- got medium spicy and it was definitely Spicy! It is an appetizer so does not come with rice but I do recommend to eat it with rice or naan to offset the spicy unless you love spicy. Definitely spicer than my liking and tolerant. It is not a "fake" medium level. But it was good. Butter chicken - comes with rice. Delicious and flavorful. Taste good with both rice and garlic naan (side order, also very good but very oily as well) The price here is very decent. The portion is not large but I would say enough for the price. Mango Lassi- very tasty and rich in mango. Really enjoyed the drink. Even though it was pre-made, it did take awhile to come out but it was busy with one server so didn't want to rush. Weird start but it ended up being pretty decent. I went on their website to order online (pick-up) and after paying, did not get any kind of confirmation email or text. After waiting a few minutes, I called the restaurant, and no one picked up. I called off and on for the next five minutes. Surely, they're not closed. Tuesday at 5pm? Screw it, I have nothing better to do, I'll just drive up there to see. I enter the establishment and it's dead quiet out front, but I do hear noises in the back. There's no bell to ding at the host desk and after waiting for a couple of more minutes I decide to call the restaurant. Lo and behold, a man runs out of the kitchen to answer the phone. Ah, so the phone does work! They ended up getting my order, just didn't have any confirmation. The food: I ordered Chicken Gongura Curry, Goat Rogan Josh and Palak Paneer. I did choose the "Indian Spicy" and made an extra note on the order to kill me with spice, but I'd say it was pretty mild to me. The flavors however, were really delicious and I have no food regrets. This felt like the workhorse of Indian food restaurants. Lots of choices, you couldn't go wrong. I ordered a chicken khorma (which came with a side of rice), naan and a side of raitha. It was all insanely delicious, and looking at the menu there are half a dozen other things I wish I could have ordered as well. Portions were extremely generous, I had enough for leftovers. Strangely enough, the restaurant itself was nearly empty. But when I got there, somebody else was waiting for a pickup and somebody else came in after I left for takeout. So it seems like you could get in pretty easily, but nothing beats eating tasty Indian comfort food from the comfort of your own couch. read more

Very excited to try this place, after a friend recommended it. Upon arrival, I noticed we were the only table in the restaurant -- for a Friday evening, I would have expected it to be busier. We were seated right away and given time to review the extensive menu. Our hostess was pleasant throughout our meal. The music playing sounded like traditional Indian music, which was enjoyable! Ordered 3 entrees: tandoori chicken with naan, lamb boti kebab with rice, and the fish special. The entrees came at the same time, all except the naan. The proteins were flavorful and the green mint sauce that came with the lamb was absolutely stellar -- mint and lemongrass perfectly complemented the rich lamb! I could drink that sauce straight! The tandoori chicken and lamb kebab were both flavorful, but overall on the dry side. The only chicken piece that not dry was the thigh piece. The fish was delicious, especially the coconut sauce. I would have enjoyed this even more with a side of rice. Upon finishing our meal, we asked our hostess about the naan that never arrived. She checked in with the kitchen and came back saying they probably thought they gave it to us with the order. I was a little surprised, because as I said at the beginning, we were the only table at that time, so not sure how they forgot. Nevertheless, when it did arrive, we did take the naan to go and ate it in the car. WOW! I can see why there are so many naan variations to order on the menu. Absolutely deliciously light bread! Just a shame to not have had the naan alongside our entrees, but still delicious on its own! Next time I come, I will try more naan and rice dishes. read more

As I was eating my butter chicken and my friend eating her chicken tikka, I commented the colors seemed to be the opposite of what it normally was. We noticed the lids got switched, and received 2 orders of butter chicken and 1 chicken tikka masala. I like how they include rice with the order and does not need to be ordered separately. My wife and I were out for our weekly new restaurant Saturday lunch. We decided on this well reviewed Indian place in a strip mall by her parents' house in Bloomington, MN. We called ahead our order and we stepped in to the well populated restaurant for 11:45 on a Saturday and it was ready and super hot for us. My main unhappiness with take-out is that you usually have to zap it in the microwave when you get home. Not a problem with Aroma. The lady behind the counter was super nice as well. Their take-out containers are perfection. Take-out procedure. 10/10 For our naan we got the garlic naan, garlic and rosemary and plain versions. Each one was cooked to its chewy happiness and super flavorful to their spices. 10/10 We wanted something that we knew her parents wouldn't be offended by, so we went with the cubes of chicken breast cooked in mild tomato butter-based tikka masala sauce - Not my favorite, but it is because the other two entrees we got were that good. I purposefully didn't get a spicy versions of any of the dishes that I knew her parents would try. This had the lighter sauce and it was nice with some raitha and mint chutney on top of the dahl. 7/10 My second favorite was the slow cooked lamb with lentils and spices and tampered with mustard seeds and curry leaf - Lamb Dal. The lamb was cooked through and the spices were flavorful. Really good with the lentils. A nice hearty stew/soup. 9/10 Now, the piece de resistance. I got the spicy Goat Khorma. Goat korma is a dish made by slow cooking mutton along with yogurt, whole spices and spice powders. This had just enough heat as to bring some sweat upon my brow. I love goat and this was a perfect dish. 10/10 Your order comes with lots of rice and I think everything was about $65. Not bad for a lunch for four adults. A must try in the southern Twin Cities suburbs. read more

It's fine if you live in this ethnic food desert. Been here multiple times for takeout--had meat and vegetarian dishes. The meat seems to be the bottom of the barrel. The sauce with the Chicken tikka masala was flavorful (way too spicy for a mild dish but I don't have a Midwest palette so that was refreshing) but the chicken was chewy and felt like tendons you'd find in street meat in New York. Felt the same way about the lamb vindaloo--they're charging a premium for the meat but what I got looked more like bolognese sauce with random chunks of difficult to chew "lamb." It probably had three potatoes in it. The samosas are flavorful but it feels like a pastry filled with mashed potatoes and maybe one pea each. The samosas were disappointing too. The veggie samosas was just mashed potatoes with some spices. And the chicken was just ground chicken. It was still a week old when we visited it. You could still hear some banging going on in the back room. Being a new place, we were a bit hesitant, but pleasantly surprised. 1. Taste - The food we tasted were pretty good. We ordered a lot of apps, kind of tapas style for the group. And there was nothing bad to say about any of them. The "Cut Mirchi" was the only thing that kind of dripping oil, as if it had been fried twice. 2. Price to value - Decent value. The portions for each was pretty good. And the price point was not too expensive. We ended up getting a couple of togo boxes too. 3. Service - We were seated immediately and looked after well 4. Ambiance - Being new, it was still good and the spacing between tables was decent. Nice and clean. AND they had a brand new, gleaming fully stocked bar. I tried the chicken tiki masala, garlic naan and the gobi manchurian. For the large portion of chicken tiki masala I got, I didn't get enough rice. The sauce was very creamy but I felt that it was lacking in flavor. I feel like it needed a little more spice to it. The garlic naan was great. For the gobi manchurian, I wished the cauliflower was a little crunchier. It was mushy. I enjoyed the taste though. Prices were fair and no issues with service or timing. I was invited here by some good friends who are from are from India and I have limited experience with Indian cuisine. It's been over 10 years and it's been only two maybe three times ever. This spot, is a local gem you've gotta visit, sooner than later. We were with a group, and we had apps, we had main dish, our main dish had main dish, then we had extra, then we ordered more, and after all that, then our friends said let's get dessert! And the whole time, the food kept coming, hot, fresh, the staff was attentive and friendly and new families and groups kept coming into the restaurant. Here was my experience. The apps, our friends ordered goat and chicken I think that wasn't too spicy ( I like the spice), but he wanted to start off light and add to the next level of spice for those around the table, cus not everyone can hang. I'm like, bring on the spice while others who don't spice like that we're already sweating. Round two, chicken 65 and lollipop chicken. That's what I'm talking about! Even those who can't handle the spice found the taste buds will the meat back in the fork and take a bite cus the flavor was that powerful. That this place is called Aroma is a very fitting name because the second the dish is placed in front of you, the aroma hits your nose and it gets your attention like, it's signaling you with its pointer finger saying "come here, I'm calling out to you." Round 3. Something called stuffed naan came upon the table and changed the game. Take a bite, and your like "hey hold up, hold on. How come nobody told me about this before? How come we haven't come to this restaurant before?" And in that moment, the restaurant pulled a move I've rarely seen done, they took a surprise dish that changed the game, then they added a dipping sauce to it to ring the bell and call it a night. ding ding ding and the winner is!!! They brought out a bowl of fresh hot curry....and I was skeptical at first, "you want me to dip this oh so good stuffed naan in this lame lookin' brown bowl of curry.?? So I did. Such good Indian food! There was only one other table there besides us on a Thursday around noon. Clean open space inside. The rosemary garlic naan bread is to die for. Definitely try it. There were 4 good size pieces so it was plenty for 2 of us to share. We also had the chicken tikka masala which was wonderful and came with jasmine rice. Lastly, we had the chettinadu chicken biryani. So flavorful and unlike anything I've had before. This also came with 2 different amazing sauces. The chicken had bones so be careful when digging in! They didn't have tap water but didn't charge for bottles of water-just felt wasteful to be using the plastic. Had plenty of leftovers! read more

Decent place. We ate outside because we had a dog. The table was very dirty and the sun was harsh and hard to hide from, and the metal furniture wasn't that comfortable. We had to go inside to get our menus and it took a while for a waiter to come out. The menu is much larger than most places, but despite that there was only one lentil (daal) dish, yellow (so no daal makhani). The food was pretty good! Pyramid fried samosa rather than flat triangle pastry, decent chutney. Butter chicken, coconut chicken, and the Iranian style curry were all solid. The palak/saag paneer was the baby food style: blended to death, it tasted ok. Naan was ok, a little bready instead of fluffy, and not enough of it. No brown rice option. Mango lassi was good, mango shake was not. We had to go inside for more water and they seemed put off when I asked to take a pitcher outside. After the meal, they hustled a QR code for a Google review. Price was better than many places. I would return here but I'm still looking for the best Indian food in this city. read more

We went to Aroma. Atmosphere is fine. Ordered an appetizer and 3 entrees. Appetizer came out at the exact same time as the meals which is annoying. The chicken was overly fried and tasted so so. The vegetarian entree was the best. Good flavors and hefty portion for leftovers. The butter chicken sauce was very good but the chicken was more like bone fragments and cartilage than chicken. The chicken tikka masala was good. The service was poor at best. Didn't even bother telling her how terrible the butter chicken was because I knew she couldn't have cared less. I've been lucky to have eaten at Aroma a few times a year for many years now. It's reliably a great place to go for delicious Indian & Iranian food in the Twin Cities! A calm indoor seating area, with outdoor tables shaded by the large covered patio space, either would be good options. Inside is a quieter space, which is usually my go to requirement for lunch out with friends. Staff is attentive but not hovering. Friendly, but not overbearing. A perfect balance! read more
