Dancing Ganesha has several locations including this one in St. Louis Park. This is one of the nicest looking Indian restaurants I've visited. It's very attractively decorated and it seems much thought was put into its ambiance. This was my first trip to Dancing Ganesha. Normally, we trek out to Namaste India Grill & Brewhouse in Arden Hills, which is fantastic, but much more of a trek than to St. Louis Park. My wife and I ordered our two standards, Chicken Josh ($18) (which I believe is the same as Butter Chicken), and Chicken Tandoori ($17) with a side of Garlic Naan. Both dishes were excellent. The Tandoori Chicken was moist and good flavor and the the quantity of food very very generous and made for a good lunch the next day. The Chicken Josh was tasty and very good, but I think it was a tad less flavored than the version at Namaste. But it was a close second. We both enjoyed the Garlic Naan, which is best eaten while it's hot. The service was good and a bit more attentive than Namaste in Arden Hills. Overall, this is a solid restaurant. read more

Great service, great food and overall a great experience at the St. Louis Park location. The food was amazing! I ordered the Butter chicken, Beef vindaloo, garlic naan and the Chicken Rice Biryani! The rice biryani is the way to go! So flavorful and minty with a wholesome rice:chicken ratio. Overall love the portions here and the spice range is mild (to anyone that can endure heat). I chose the level 4 spice and it *barely* had a kick. Nothing better than when your food is served and it's steaming hot! Went there after a workout next door at Alloy. My friend and I split the Bombat Chat, Potato Naan and Tikka Masala. The chat was super fresh and flavorful with the Masala and Naan following shortly there after and was just like the chat, delicious! Good service, clean and nice atmosphere. BPA ALERT. !!! When you order 'Take Out' from DG They will put your Piping HOT food in a CHEAP plastic container (the kind you get at a fishing bait shop). THE FOOD Let's put it this way, The first time was the best time. Every time after that, there was something not right with the food/orders First of all, their curry only had CUBED chicken and curry sauce, no vegetables, no potato they said they could add potato for an extra $3 wtf. Their Chicken NaaN had microscopic bits of chicken (hard to find) the regular NaaN was Burnt each visit. The first time the NaaN came with dipping sauces - never got that again when I placed my next order, I asked about the sauces and they seem confused but promised they would put some in my takeout order and surprise. I have been in love with Indian food since my first trip to London decades ago. Dancing Ganesha was new to me so I decided to try several dishes. First the Dal, a yellow lentil soup that was puréed and missing texture. It was ok, but very bland. Salt and a squeeze of lime helped. My Lamb Saag was much more successful and one of my favorite Indian dishes. The lamb was tender, the spinach fragrant and delicious, and nicely spiced. I ordered medium but definitely next time I'll kick it up a notch. Medium didn't make me break a sweat, but I appreciate the options in heat level offered (mild, mild plus, medium, medium plus, hot, extra hot). The Onion Kulcha was fantastic! Described as naan stuffed with onions, it appeared to be naan with onions worked into the dough as they were readily visible. The sweet onions and their crunch took naan to another level both in texture and flavor. We had gone on a quiet evening, ourselves and another large party were there we were seated in a quieter back area and the staff was very polite. we ordered two different chicken entrees and naan (goat stuffed and garlic). Everything was delicious! The price was fair for what we got, and we had a ton of leftovers because the portions are generous! This review is based on a first visit where I only ordered an appetizer. So take it for what it's worth. Stopped by here after stopping next door and still being hungry and wanted to give it a try. The decor and cleanliness was what you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. That is to say, nothing to complain about but nothing spectacular. Had to wait a little bit for service but again not unexpected. They were fairly busy and maybe a little understaffed. Once I did get service, the server was attentive. Now on to the food. Again based on one dish that I ordered. The Chicken 65 appetizer. Came out hot and crispy. Maybe a little bit on the dry side. I was expecting it to be a little moist or maybe saucy as I have seen it at other places. Would probably give it another try and order some other items. I enjoyed dinner with Mom and family friends. It was quite nice being together. The food was quite tasty but lacking salt. Reminded me a lot of Tamarind in terms of flavor, but not quite as heavy. This restaurant was tucked away in the back of a strip center. Not the most ideal location, but very cute, clean, friendly ambience. The host and server were both friendly and efficient. I had lamb Samosa as an appetizer, and both sauces were delicious The crust was flaky and fresh, and the lamb and peas were spiced perfectly. It might be the best lamb I've ever had I had the chicken tiki masala for dinner. I asked for it hot don't do that again. It was excellent great flavor spice beautifully very very hot now I happen to like it that way, but it would probably be too hot for most. The portions were very large on both the appetizer and dinner, so the pistachio ice cream was good but I was already full, and hot chai was excellent. Food is good, online ordering experience was difficult had to call to inquire about if you get a side of rice with the entrees, it does. After getting the order home, I called the restaurant and asked if why we only got one order of rice, when we placed an order for 2 entrees. There is nothing on the receipt that reflects we even got rice. When speaking to the person on the phone they said they gave us double rice, I said okay. I also communicated to the restaurant, that my yelp order was not confirmed after placing it. The only time I got an update for my order was when I got notified it was ready for pickup by yelp. He said I need to call Grubhub, that information wasn't very helpful at all. I'm just letting them know it'd be nice from customer perspective to know if your order is being made, guess I have to call grubhub for inquiry idk. Upon getting into the food I noticed there were no labels communicating what was what. I called again and the guy said they Never label their food. Ambiance was fine I suppose but we had NO clue what we were eating- that's a bit odd if you ask me. As always, the service is prompt, and the food is delicious at Dancing Ganesha. The lively decor catches your eye the moment you step inside, but the aroma of the spices takes over your senses, making your mouth water! You can't go wrong here. I usually order the mild chicken rice biryani, although even the mild version has a bit of a kick. In the past, I've requested no spice in this dish, but it still came out spicy. Last night, I was informed that it's not possible to make rice biryani without some level of spice; otherwise, it wouldn't be rice biryani. With that noted, I'll mention that even though I have a sensitive palate, the mild version is tolerable, but it takes some getting used to. However, it might still be too spicy for kids. Who doesn't love naan, and the naan at Dancing Ganesha is fantastic. My family and friends have never complained about any dish they've ordered. Last night, the other orders at my table included Dal soup, Chicken Saag, and Vindaloo. Everything was wonderfully prepared and served with plenty of rice. If I had one complaint, it would be that an extra side of Raita used to be a generous size and is now quite small. For $4 a side, I'd like to receive the previous pint-size they used to offer instead of the small ramekin they now provide. All in all, this is our go-to spot, and we will definitely be returning! I had the lamb curry which was spicy.The heat was a little bit much...however I'm used to spicy food.My guest had the Chicken Vindaloo.I sampled hers and it was flavorful! I called the store directly to let them know that they did not place the item in my bag and he said I can come and pick it up if I was able to pick it up I would have not DoorDash in the first place. After talking with him, he then called me back to tell me that the driver must have taken my food. Instead of owning up to the mistake that it was never placed in the bag. I am surprised that I forgot to take pictures but the food was all well packed. We had the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, chicken saag, lentil curry, samosas too. I feel like the butter chicken and chicken tikka masala are so similar that I couldn't tell them apart. The saag was yummy but I should have ordered it with the cheese not chicken. The lentil curry had the ghee flavor to it. The meals come with a generous portion of rice. Next time, I would like to go inside the restaurant and order there. Yum. All I can say is yum. My partner ordered and got the food for us from here, and it was all delicious. The sauces were all so flavorful, and there were big portions of everything. We were both absolutely stuffed by the end. I'm docking it one star just because one of our dishes was cold when we got it, but that's really the only complaint I have. Mild spice level was like no spice level. Most disappointing was the false advertising of what the bombat chat was. The picture on their website is not at all what you get. This place adds some great diversity to Knollwood, especially in an area mostly comprised of chain restaurants. The food was good, with delicious flavors and good-sized chunks of chicken in the entrees. They have multiple spice levels, ranging from Mild to Hot, to choose from. The service was average - we got our orders taken quickly and got our food not too long after, but they didn't check on us after they served the food, so we waited a while after we were done eating and ended up having to flag our waiter down to get the check. My one complaint is that most of the staff weren't wearing masks, despite the fact that there is an active mask mandate in St Louis Park right now. Saag (Spinach) with Chicken (4/5) - a North Indian dish that you don't find at every Indian restaurant. Pretty similar to palak paneer, except with chicken instead of paneer. Ordered it mild, but it was still plenty tasty - if anything, a little too salty. Chettinad (4/5) - good typical Indian curry flavor. Ordered it medium, and it was a good balance between spiciness and curry flavor. Garlic Naan (5/5) - a ton of garlic flavor, and nice and crispy (without being too burnt!). First time here and it was delicious! We came in a day where Blaze pizza had a long line because it was pi day and this restaurant was right next door to it. I saw that it had great reviews and decided to give it a try. I ordered a mango lasi and was very happy to see that it was pretty great portion and not in a small cup. I also tried the Lamb Saag which is land in a creamy rock spinach sauce, a order of garlic naan, and chicken Makhani which is chicken in fresh tomato sauce with a touch of light cream and fenugreek. Both were ordered on mild because I have learned my lesson getting spicy and it being a spice I can't handled. The place was busy with take out orders and a good amount of people inside. You get a potion of rice that's enough for 2 but they will bring you more if you finish it as well. Service was good and would highly recommend the dishes I got.
