Had seen Dancing Ganesha in the days I used to live in Minneapolis but never had the pleasure of trying it. Was visiting family and decided to try it out. For the Indians craving traditional Indian flavors, in my opinion, this may not live up to expectations. We tried the samosas. The casing was exceptional. Crispy and held itself. The filling; hmmmm, didn't care for it much. The gobi manchuran we ordered as an appetizer too, not what we expected. It lacked the 'crispy' feel as it had a lot of the sauce. Traditionally, even when saucy, the gobi has an awesome crisp to the extent it's crunchy. Fun to eat. The other thing we didn't enjoy in the flavor profile of this was the ketchup. It felt like there was a good amount of ketchup that was used in the sauce. The tomato soup was EXCELLENT. It was a cool evening and the warm, rich, slightly sour soup hit the spot. I ordered the chole bhature. I think that was the most disappointing. The chole was not bad but the bhature; come on guys. You know what real bhature is. What was served was closer to something like a version of pita bread (little different) but not a bhature. If there was a 'sin' committed, I would say it was not serving a traditional bhature for a dish called chole bhature. We also ordered a dal makhani which was alright. The paneer makhani was really good. The paneer was super fresh and the flavor while not original (to me) was still really good. The service was fantastic. Our server was friendly, attentive, made sure our waters were always filled and checked in on us from time to time without being overwhelming while yet not disappearing. Would I come here again? It was our son's 19th birthday yesterday, and we told him he could pick anywhere he wanted to go for lunch. He chose Dancing Ganesha in Maple Grove. Indian cuisine isn't something our family is very familiar with, so we really weren't sure what to expect, but he assured us it was phenomenal. My husband has tried curry dishes in the past and has never been a fan, so I looked up the menu in advance and tried to plan out a few things I thought he might like just to be proactive. I'm really glad I did. Their menu includes a variety of dishes we had never even heard of before, and researching it ahead of time really helped me understand the flavor profiles and what to expect. We went with a group of six and decided to sample a variety of dishes. We ordered Vegetable Samosas, Chicken 65, Gobi Manchurian, and Chili Chicken as appetizers. For entrées, we had Chicken Makhani (Butter Chicken), Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Malabar, Chicken Korma, and Chicken Biryani. We asked for a medium spice level on everything. We also shared plain, garlic, and onion naan, along with a side of mango chutney. It gave us a great variety of flavors and was the perfect way to experience Indian cuisine for the first time. The thing that stood out most to me was the freshness of the food and the beautifully balanced flavors in every dish we received. Every time we tried something new, it was like, "Oh my goodness, you have to try this one!" It was so exciting to experience such well-made and delicious food in a way that was completely new to us. My husband even raved about it, which was shocking! The thing that surprised us most was the Gobi Manchurian. Our server told us it was their most popular appetizer, which I found interesting because it's cauliflower-based. It came out looking almost like sweet and sour chicken, and the flavor was spectacular. The medium spice level definitely brought enough heat to leave a little burn in the back of your throat, but it wasn't overwhelming. It balanced perfectly with the seasonings and spices and never overpowered the food. To be honest, we didn't really even know how to eat everything, so we just started piling different dishes onto our plates, mixing and matching sauces and flavors. Somehow, everything complemented each other incredibly well. After we finished our meal, we talked with the staff on our way out. They told us that everything is made from scratch using authentic recipes and fresh ingredients, and you can absolutely taste that level of quality in every dish. Oh yeah, the Mango Lassi drink was out of this world. It was like a creamy mango smoothie that you almost couldn't get enough of. Thinking about that alone makes me want to go back right now. I highly recommend checking it out, whether you already love authentic Indian food or you're simply an adventurous foodie looking for something delicious and surprising. One of my favorite go-to places for Chicken Tikka Misala. Their naan, vegetable samosas, and paneer pakoras are all great! Every time I have ordered, it is always packaged well. They wrap the sauce cups for orders, which I appreciate as they can sometimes leak. Ordering online and picking up, ordering on Uber Eats, or ordering on DoorDash works great with this location. I tried the Chicken Tikka dosa once and wasn't a fan of the crepe. I prefer the garlic naan with my chicken Tikka misala as the naan is more sturdy for holding the chicken Tikka misala and it is more likely to arrive warm. When picking up, the location is easy to find and there is plenty of parking. Love this spot. I usually get the saag paneer extra spicy and they do give a good spice level (I usually like it HOT). This time I tried the butter masala paneer extra spicy and it was fantastic. Love their garlic naan. Crunchy on the outside and tasty on the inside. I ordered butter chicken and my husband ordered the chicken tikka Marsala, with a side of white rice, palak paneer with a side of garlic naan. (It would be 1 star based on the service) We just ate here for the 2nd time, so I reserved giving a bad review until we visited twice to see if it would be better the 2nd time. We ordered sodas the first time and never got refills, the 2nd time the waitress never even asked us if we wanted anything besides water. The main issue is the younger female server, she is very rude, barely engages with you, takes dishes off the table while you're still eating, and acts like you're an inconvenience for being there. Tried this place for the first time last night and currently eating the leftovers. Got their chicken curry which had a nice kick to it and tasted pretty good. Their garlic naan was solid as well. I tried their lamb samosas but felt they were really dry so cant recommend those even tho they pack it full of lamb/dont skimp and give you two sauces to drizzle over or dip. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and our regular Indian place was closed. So we ordered from here. We were pleased, the food was good. Just didn't enjoy the Gobi Manchurian was too much breading for us. We loved the chicken tikka masala, just wish the chicken pieces were smaller. The Chicken Biriyani was amazing. The portions were smaller than our normal Indian restaurant so that was also slightly disappointing for us, but still decent portions. We ordered through door dash to be delivered and ate an hour after being delivered we got it and everything still tasted fresh and good. Our son had the shrimp and I tried the chicken skewer - the meat was so slow cooked tender and perfectly flavored. Accompanied by the longest grain, best flavored rice I've ever seen! It was a perfect combination for those returning for fan favorites and a first timer. So much good food we had lunch for the next day. Full bar menu as well. This review is regarding a take-out experience I had this week with this restaurant. The dine in experience may be different. In a nutshell, the quality of food here is not even close to the quality of the Minneapolis location, where I've had many meals. I thought trying this would be a similar experience. No such luck. The food was terrible! The samosas and the garlic naan were so overcooked the naan was rubbery and the samosas were hard. On top of that, all of the dishes were bland and even with medium spice there was no real use of spice that I am used to from the Minneapolis location. The only good thing for this order was the mint and tamarind chutneys. They were excellent. read more
