    Chabli kabob with naan (takeout)

Ambiance: This seemed authentic as there were several families here watching a cricket on the restaurant's one TV (at the same time an NBA finals elimination game was happening) and there was an elevated seating area where you can eat in a reclined position. Food: Chabli kabob Vegetable samosa The chabli is like a sausage patty, though has Afghani spices. It was a little spicy. I'm not sure if this is the traditional preparation or maybe just the ones I got, though they seemed a little charred. The portions were big (probably not clear from the photo). The naan wrap is bigger than Indian naan. It was paradoxically fluffy yet also tough (jaw was slightly tired after chewing).

    Chappli Kabab

Visited this Afghan Darbar Resturant for the first time and ordered the chapli kabab. It took a little while, probably because they make it fresh -- totally worth the wait. The kababs were huge and absolutely delicious. The host, Abdullah, was incredibly kind and welcoming. He served me soup to start and later offered green tea on the house. This place feels like a hidden gem tucked away in Minneapolis. I'd highly recommend it and definitely plan to come back during my next five days here.

Hi all, I flew in to Minneapolis today. I stopped to grab a bottle of wine, saw this restaurant nearby, and felt I hit the jackpot. Immediately upon walking in I knew it was very authentic, which is what we desire right? The restaurant felt family owned which is even better. Service was speedy. I ordered the Chickpea Curry, requested heat with it, and took it to-go to eat at my hotel. I was not disappointed. The food was amazing and served culture. I will be returning when I come back into town.

Kabuli pulao with beef and goat has to be the best items, much better than what I've had in big cities like Chicago.

If you're looking for authentic Afghan food done right, Mazidar Grill is an absolute gem…read more Everything we tried was deeply flavorful and clearly made with care. The Palov (Kabuli Pulao) is the real deal--perfectly cooked rice, aromatic spices, tender meat, and that signature balance of sweet carrots and raisins. The food platter is a knockout if you want variety: generous portions, beautifully grilled meats, and bold yet balanced seasoning. And the biryani? Straight-up incredible--rich, layered flavors without feeling heavy. What really stood out was how customizable the spice level is. You can keep it mild or turn up the heat without losing depth, which says a lot about how solid the base flavors are. The chickpeas and lentils were another highlight--simple, authentic, and deeply satisfying. Pure comfort food done right. And then there's the butter chicken, which is truly unique here. They use grilled chicken instead of the usual preparation, giving it a smoky, authentic character that sets it apart. Creamy, perfectly spiced, and packed with flavor. The customer service deserves special mention. The owners, Vas and Nas, genuinely go the extra mile to make sure you're taken care of and leave happy. You can feel the pride they take in both the food and the experience. The grocery side is also slowly growing, with Afghan staples and other Asian groceries, which makes it even better for anyone wanting to bring these flavors home. A place with great food, warm hospitality, and heart--you'll want to come back.

The…read moreMethi was delightful, medium spice made my scalp prickle and my nose run which is a success for me! The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy and meaty not at all dry. The sauce was deeply flavorful and rich. The Onion Dosa was a waste of money. It's about two feet long and disappointingly stuffed with chopped RAW red onions. No bueno, they fell out of the piece I cut and got everywhere. I ate a little bit and it went into the compost bin. The crepe itself was flavorle The Butter Chicken was fantastic, perfect spice level for me, the chicken succulent and tender, the sauce flavorful and delicious. There was a weird little cold soup of some kind of veg - I could only identify carrot - tasted sour and was not edible. Not sure what it is, it's not on the menu. So A+ on the Methi and Butter Chicken, F on the dosa. Portions are large, I'll be eating the two mains for days. Rice portion is huge.

I usually go to Holy Land , and that is good, but this definitely is the next best thing. This also has a butcher shop, fresh pita and other breads, lots of produce with fresh mint, cilantro and parsley always plentiful and clean. They also have a small deli grab and go next to the butcher are where there are fresh made snacks, za'atr bread, spinach pies, etc The olive and cheese deli section is plentiful as well. There is a separate cafe which I did not try on this visit but will be back for it. Plenty of seating and they had my favorite Falafel sandwich on the menu My favorite part are the little snack goodies in the grocery area such as chips of unique flavors, a variety of candy , and salted nuts snacks. There is a large amount of Indian groceries as well for those looking for that. They say are the largest Halal market in Minnesota for those looking for that niche. They have their own private parking lot and are off of University Ave and 85th Ave. There is always someone available from the store to answer questions. Looking forward to trying their cafe next time.!

Finally made a point to come here for dinner and excited to try out their food! Not realizing it was also connected to the supermarket we wandered the aisles for a bit before heading over to the cooked food cafe. My husband grabbed some olives and immediately started eating them while we sat in the grill area--10/10 no regrets. We ordered the babaganoush, garlic spread, and a falafel sandwich. While we weren't huge fans of the pita (very bready), the dips were so good they made up for it. Great food, great market vibes, and a fun place to try something new!
