While this place had good reviews they are extremely outdated. I am an avid Mexican restaurant visitor and this was one of if not the worst. Red sauce has zero flavor. Rice was leftover white rice warmed on the grill. Corn tortillas were soaked in some colored grease and beans tasted like they just came out of the can warmed in microwave. Service was good and staff was friendly but just can't get past the tasteless food. Will not return. Sorry just not good. read more

If I could give a negative star review I would!! If you like dry, rubbery chicken breast for chicken fajitas then this is the place to come eat at!!! The shrimp tasted like pure salt, the chips and salsa were awful too. The horchata was watered down made from a pre mix. Just awful and awful service. I appreciate the Mexican restaurants in Indiana so much more!!! read more

Let me preface this by saying I NEVER give bad reviews and when it comes to Mexican food, I'm not that picky. I heart tacos and all Mexican food alike. Period. We were heading through town and decided to stop here for a quick bite versus a bigger Mexican restaurant. First bummer right out the gate - no margaritas. Their queso cheese was bland and the salsa was completely flavorless. It tastes like watered down tomato juice. Our fajitas were bland - only seasoned with salt and pepper, and they didn't come with any toppings (I.e. sour cream, lettuce, salsa, etc.). We barely touched our food. And the cherry on top - the wait staff was rude. So. Damn. Disappointed. Because I'm not a Karen I will give them credit where credit is due I will say the one younger server was very sweet and their mole sauce was pretty good. Overall 1 star. Wish I would have read the reviews. #1 when I go out and pay $60 at a Mexican restaurant I would like complimentary chips and salsa. 2 I would like to be greeted like a guest and not like I am imposing on your free time. Food was not even good. Chicken tasted like canned food. I recommend using marinade. Owner should take a trip to azul tequila in hudson or cancun in Menomonie and improve this place. Stopped in to get fresh eggs. That's right, she sells fresh free-range eggs. I cracked some open and compared the yokes to store bought eggs and the difference was astonishing. Her eggs had the darkest yokes I have ever seen. Obvious that the hens are getting lots of sunlight, eating a few bugs, and are healthy and happy. Thank you for sharing your yummy eggs. read more

Took the chance, based on some good reviews to jump off the 94 highway a couple of miles to give DJ's a chance. Located at the end of Main Street, it was easy to find and park. Fresh, inexpensive food in an interesting small town atmosphere. We enjoyed our food and the service. I had the Chimi and it was delightful. Wide selection of soda. Super Mexican cuisine - built into a Main Street store front, great photos on the wall, bright decor - a DIAMOND of a restaurant! I came here for the first time with a coworker after another had recommended it to us - I can testify that DJ's has the best chunky refried beans on this side of the Red River! I get to write the first review for D J's? That works. D J's is owned by a husband and wife. The restaurant is located in downtown Baldwin, WI and is pretty small and easily bypassed but bypassing it would be a mistake. This is one of the very few restaurants that actually is remotely authentic Mexican in the twin cities area. The food is really much more Latin than Mexican. The flavors are excellent on the various dishes that I have tried. They do an all you can eat taco promotion on Fridays and Saturdays which is well worth the price. They use very good quality ingredients and the owners use the restaurant's profits to help support charities in Central America. Excellent food and a good cause. Well worth the trip from Hudson to Baldwin for me. The service is really good and the owners are very pleasant to talk to. They let you know that your business is appreciated. read more

Not sure why there are so many good reviews. This was seriously the worst restaurant I have ever been to. I don't even know why the enchiladas I had were called enchiladas. They appeared to be some soggy limp corn tortillas filled with microwaved meat and no sauce. After one bite and finding hair in my food, I was outta there. Happened upon D.J.s Restaurante Juda and were amazed to discover them to have the BEST Mexican food and margaritas we have ever had! Everything is made fresh and the prices are reasonable. If you like things spicy, they have the spiciest salsa we have ever had at a Mexican restaurant. Carmenes a la diablo (SPICY shrimp with rice, beans and corn tortillas) was amazing as were the enchiladas with homemade mole sauce! The restaurant has a wonderful story behind it as well. The staff was friendly enough but quite inattentive. The young waitress was on her phone, my wife had to get her own takeout box, and I had to go ask for our tab. I recently moved to Baldwin from the Twin Cities, and spent last weekend trying out some of the local cuisine. Although there are quite a few places to eat in town, this is truly a hidden gem. Located right off of main street, and across the street from the local ice cream fix, I will be making this one of my regular dining destinations. The place is relatively small, but has a ton of character, and they do offer take out for those in a hurry. The food can be made to order, so things can be tweaked to fit your needs, or you can let them work their magic. The combos are an amazing deal, you can choose between 1-4 entree items, and they are served with a side of rice and beans.
