If I was just reviewing the food and atmosphere they would already be at 5 starts. However, the family that runs this business would definitely get it pushed several stars more. They're warm and welcoming, wonderful when you're out in the community, and their food is delicious and authentic. I'd give them far more than 5 stars if I could! However, if you all could be stop making such addicting salsa that'd be great, I honestly cannot stop eating it! read more

Mediocre food. I ordered huevos rancheros and a pork tamale and I couldn't taste the difference between each of them. Trust me when I tell you you they should taste different. They both had a weird, icky oily taste to them. Like a deep-fat fryer taste (neither of these dishes should be deep-fat fried). I consider myself a well-seasoned consumer of both of these dishes, having lived in the west and southwest. Just not impressed. May be great for the undiscerning who just want to get filled up (these dishes will do that), but for me, it was disappointing enough to never go back. I ordered takeout and the checkout person was super friendly and grateful for my business. So, if that's enough for you -- please, by all means try them out. I just wish they were a place I could enjoy going back to in this small town. Dang. read more

Very tasty Mexican food and margaritas!! Wait staff is very friendly and food always comes out fast!

Every time I go to the Mariachi Loco I walk out saying it was the best meal I've ever had there. These folks are relentlessly stepping up their game. Thank you for creating such a beautiful enterprise in little ol' River Falls creating jobs, great food and memories!!! read more

First time at Mariachi Loco, THE BEST CHERRY COKE I'VE EVER HAD! Cheese queso was a 10/10 and the vibes and music was a plus! Service by Rosa was phenomenal :) If you're in River Falls you need to eat here! Will be back! read more

Wonderful food as usual. The is now doubt about it, it's our very favorite place for Mexican food. The service is the best and we always enjoy how friendly they are. read more

The salsa is Amazing. The tamales are perfect. Small quaint atmosphere. Good service.

Mariachi Loco does a nice job. Service good and fast, portions decent. I had the Burrito and enchiladas and my wife had the enchiladas and Tostada. Also had the cheese dip as a appetizer. My only complaint is the lack of bold or unique flavor. Cheese dip and salsa seemed like it was just poured out of a jar. Everything sorta just tasted the same. Would I go back? Maybe; but wouldn't be a priority. read more

Our waitress was very friendly and showed us right to our table. She started us off with chips and salsa while we perused the menu. We ordered a chicken chimichonga and flautas. One thing I REALLY appreciated was that they had a kids meals that had a menu even a picky eater can tolerate. (So we also ordered chicken nuggets.) Honestly, our food came out so quickly and was delicious. I realized that flautas were basically mini chimichongas and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The chimichonga was a good size, so I was able to take half of it home for the next day. We will stop in again! read more

Great food, quick and friendly service, great place to grab a quick lunch or a nice date night dinner!

Great fast and fresh Mexican. Love the chicken soap! Service is always polite and fast!

Don't get the vegatarian. Tastes like they just thawed a pack of frozen mixed vegetables and threw some paprika on and called it good.... No salt... No pepper, just watered down vegatables. The mushrooms are barely cooked, it was just overall very unpleasant. Then on top of that the beans just tasted like they drained a can of pinto beans and placed it on a plate. The rice was by far the best part and the only thing worth eating, which is sad because it is a minor part of the meal. I'd rather pay someone $10.25 to go to the grocery store and buy a pack of frozen vegetables and a can of beans so I could cook it myself. read more

July 2023 update: All these years later, and Mariachi Loco is still the best restaurant in town. Consistently good food, consistently good service. And still the best salsa I've ever had! This family-owned restaurant has earned its place as a pillar of the community. It's always the first place I recommend to visitors. read more

nasty. chips are gross salsa tastes like tomato sauce. i'm starving service takes forever.

First time customer. Best burrito I've ever had!! Staff was really nice!

Food was great. atmosphere was cute-- warm and welcoming. I came here close to closing time and I didn't feel rushed at all: great service!!

My Arizona friend takes us to some of the best restaurants in southern Arizona. When he visited River Falls we took him to Mariachi Loco and he agreed it matched any of his favorite local restaurants. read more

Stopped in for lunch in the late afternoon. It seems like a basic Mexican place but did have some nice peppery aromas when walking in. The food was pretty good. It was a lunch serving, but still generous. The salsa is thin but has chunks of fresh tomatoes and cilantro-- which I enjoyed! I would return and try other items! Staff was friendly and the place was pretty clean (except the carpet does look a bit yuck, but that happens in a restaurant) read more

By far the closest authentic Mexican food you can get. Food is always very quick and cooked to perfection. If you haven't been here yet, you need to try it. read more

Love this place! Really good Mexican food, properly spicy if you ask for spicy. We just had a long drive ending in River Falls, with mediocre at best grub along the way. Dinner from Mariachi Loco was heaven sent. read more

This is by far my favorite place to eat lunch in River Falls. They have blazing fast service, and very good Mexican food. They are so fast sometimes we have told them to give us some time to work on the chips and salsa. I personally think this is a good thing. I get very upset at places that try to draw out your meal and make things take forever! Mariachi Loco is not fancy so don't expect too much. The decor is very basic, but the food, service and reasonable prices more then make up for it. Favorite things to order: Beef Chimichanga Chicken Fajita Beef Flautas Any Queso Dip read more

Mariachi Loco - a yellow building with a green awning - Mexican Near Me - River Falls, Wisconsin

Very nice family restaurant with a good menu, good food and good service and a comfy atmosphere.

It was fine. It was definitely bland. It had good elements like the Shredded beef and the chicken but the taco shell was thick for a corn tortilla. It also had iceberg lettuce and cheddar cheese not my favorite. It was as if they had potential for more authentic Mexican tastes but have tailored it for a midwestern college town. I wouldn't go out of my way to return but it was fine if you don't like spicy. read more

I went to college in River Falls and I dream about this place. I have not been in years and I was secretly hoping it was gross now so I could stop craving the mole enchiladas. No luck it was still as good as always. This place is not fancy they serve standard Mexican options but the sauces they serve are what set them above the rest. I always loved the verde, cremosa and mole sauces. Nothing as changed I still do. If you happen by this tiny little college town you have to and need to stop in. PS: In college we tried to see what in reason meant for chips as it indicates on the menu. Within reason for chips and salsa is about 8 baskets. read more

Consistent and authentic Mexican cuisine for Wisconsinites! There are three things I cannot go without when stopping at Mariachi Loco: 1) The queso dip and chips, which are served with homemade salsa! 2) The deep-fried ice cream, which is absolutely BOMB and 100% a MUST try! Finally, 3) the mole sauce on anything containing chicken. I always get a chimichanga with pulled chicken and swap out the usual red sauce for the mole. If you've never had mole sauce it's a dark brown mixture of TONS of spices and has a sweetness unlike any other. Please do yourself a favor and TRY THIS! Obviously, I'm a big fan but it's really because I have never been disappointed by this place. You can even get it to-go! read more

The food is just okay. It was very bland. The mango margaritas are good. The service is horrible. I went for lunch with my sister and 2 friends. We ordered 3 mango alcoholic beverages and 1 mango virgin beverage. The waitress served my underage sister an alcoholic beverage instead of the virgin one. The virgin one was given to my friend instead. I complained about this to the waitress. They don't have a good system to separate alcoholic drinks from virgin ones. The waitress told us that the drink with more whipped cream is virgin and the drinks with less whip cream are alcoholic. That's not a full proof system because whip cream can sink into the drink. I asked to talk to the manager about this situation. The manager acted like it wasn't a big deal. She offered to comp the drink. I told her this isn't about money. It's about the fact that the waitress served alcohol to someone who is underage. My sister had to drive home after lunch and if she had gotten pulled over by a cop she could have lost her license. I will never go there again. read more

The food at Mariachi Loco is unfortunately bland and not very exciting. It is a shame as the people working there are so nice and the inside of the restaurant is very clean. I hope they spice it up a little bit but I get them playing to the casual Wisconsin dinners palate. read more

Pretty good. The server was amazing! It was a busy lunch rush and she busted her butt. The food was okay just not for me

Great restaurant and nothing but kings people who work there! It's our go-to for food in River Falls. They have so many options.

Very good food and prices. Had the jalapeño appetizer and enjoyed every bite! Our meals were also great.

I love this place! Great food, good prices super friendly staff what else do you want? One thing to avoid is the veggie burrito though...it's just weird. Frozen veggie mix wrapped in a tortilla..They have obviously never actually eaten this as broccoli does not ever belong in a burrito. If it wasn't for this I'd give them a 5/5 read more

My favorite restaurant in River Falls. The food is cheap, and delicious. I've had at least half the menu, and still have not encountered a bad dish. The restaurant is small, so there is a wait sometimes, usually no more than ten minutes. The service is exceptional. Fast, friendly, and always prompt. Great restaurant, and great people too! read more

I've eaten here about 4+ times now and should share some thoughts. Yes, the space is a bit small, especially on a busy night when all the tables and booths seem to be filled. The kitchen puts out a lot of steam and heat (smoke and sizzle?), so watch out if it's muggy outdoors and you are an asthma, heart or other type of patient because it might be a little difficult to breathe if you are too close to the cooking. They do have fans set up around if I recall correctly. Don't get me wrong, it smells delicious! And you can tell the food is REALLY being cooked, not microwaved like I've heard some other restaurants ~may~ do. The building was previously a fast food restaurant with a drive through (not currently open) when I was much younger. Customer turnover is much faster with fast food, but this is now a sit-down and order your food restaurant. No pearls or diamonds required. T-shirts are fine. The drinks are flavorful and you might not want to share with someone at your table because you'll want it all for yourself (explanation: wasn't going to drink anything with alcohol BUT it tasted sooooo good at that moment, I got selfish). Maybe later, when I find my photos I'll remember what we ordered but each time we kind of try something else. Our food has always been delivered in a very timely manner, hot or very hot (temperature) and plenty, enough that we could have shared but when a hungry teenage boy is with you (which has been each time I've been here) it is not easy to have anything left over to bring home. ~Someone~ is alway willing to help me clean my plate. Next time I'll mention the chips and salsa.... or at least the green, spicer salsa. FYI: people who are accustomed to spice heat will be able to handle this, no problem. Teens who think they can handle the heat may find out otherwise. Make sure you have something near to help with the after effects. Oh, and extra napkins for the sweating and tearing eyes. Oh, and, yes, we will go here again in the future. I just saw some other Yelp reviews and just to let you know, we weren't looking for "authentic" Mexican food, although, the people (I did NOT poll them. My son would have died!!) working here most likely are of some Hispanic ethnicity. So, to this white bread (bred), Northern WI grown girl, Mariachi Loco was more Mexican culture than I grew up with. For the record, one of my bro-in-laws from Honduras and one sis-in-law is from India so I guess I do have ~some~ exposure to the outside world. If you want solid food and feel that you got your money's worth, I would recommend this restaurant. read more
