Worst restaurant in red wing. The service is HORRIBLE. The food quality is HORRIBLE. And the prices keep going up- chips and salsa is no longer free. We went here this past weekend and a table of 8. They brought out plates 5 mins after we ordered one by one. I was done eating by the time the last person got their food. The quesadilla cheese was not melted. We ordered a dish with no tomato- it had tomato. Asked for a margarita on the rocks, got it blended. Our glasses were empty the entire time. The waiter was rude and had no idea what he was doing. "Minnesota Mild" is a real, problematic thing. We were not enthused by our visit here. I'm from California, my husband is from New Mexico, and we just moved to Minnesota after a long stint in Arizona. We found the food here despairingly bland, from the salsa and chips to our main entrees. My husband's fajitas were sizzling hot when they came out--as the picture shows--but it wasn't immediately evident that the food was actually burnt across the bottom. I have been here several times and if you get one of the brothers as a server you might as well leave. He has waited on me several times and he is horrible. He has no personality and doesn't listen to what you are ordering. It's kind of hard to mess up a margarita on the rocks with no salt, and I get salt every single time. Food was horrible! Blender made guacamole, think baby food. Steak tacos - Greasy-non authentic. Literally thrown on the plate so most of the meat, cilantro and onion were on the plate and not in the nasty rubbery like taco shell. Hands down the worst taco I have ever had. We stopped here spontaneously going to a Treasure Island concert. I kind of wish we wouldn't have. We got the Mexican pizza. No flavor and way too many green onions. We each took one bite and pushed the plate aside. We also got flautas. These were okay at best that also lacked any flavor. The chile con queso was the only item we enjoyed. The margaritas are gigantic.The guava was excellent- I recommend you try it. Also highly recommended is the Tres Mares with shrimp scallops and fish. Even the Fish taste good. The shrimp and scallops were perfectly seasoned. The sides were all grilled veggies and salad greens with avocado. I can feast without feeling guilty. The fried ice cream was a perfect ending to our experience. Chips and Salsa are complimentary and the salsa was perfect. So why 4 stars? The taco dinner my daughter got was clearly the last steak of the night, it was dry, hard and tasted bland. read more

The salsa was favorable and had nice chunks of onion, tomatoes and Cilantro.. the chips seemed a little burnt and absolutely no salt...no big My burrito.. the supreme chorizo and eggs, didn't come with guacamole and i felt lacked flavor. Walked in the door and waited a couple minutes then sought out staff to be seated. That was unusual as we have been here before. I ordered from the lunch menu flautas with chicken. Meat was not dry but no flavor needed salt. The beans were delicious but the guacamole was scary looking. Guacamole was a small scoop and the top was turning black like it was made yesterday I just scrap it off my dish. Never had a problem here before but today was no there best. It not even good Mexican food for Minnesota. Minnesota has plenty of tasty Mexican restaurants that taste authentic in terms of flavor profile and freshness. Have eaten here a few time and the service is always friendly and professional. The only meal worth ordering is the steak or mahi fajitas - and that dish is not even Mexican. All the other dishes have an off-putting, bland, medicinal flavor profile - including the enchiladas verde. Not sure why this is the case. Maybe every ingredient, every sauce comes from an industrial supplier? Who knows. In addition the rice is cracked and dry - and the beans are soupy and nasty. Enjoy the fajitas. Stopped by this restaurant today while out on a road trip. Started out with some Chili con Queso and added the Chorizo to it. It was a bit runny, but the flavor was great and there was plenty of chorizo too. I ordered the combo with a chalupa and an enchilada. The chalupa was HUGE (see picture)! I thought it would be more the size of a taco I guess. There was not enough filling to justify the size of the shell and I ended up pulling out the chicken and eating it with the rice instead and left the shell. The chicken was shredded and good quality though. The enchiladas was ground beef and very good flavor too. My husband had the fajitas with chicken, and again, found everything to be tasty and good quality. A good place with OK service. We would go again if we are down that way :) read more

I would prefer to give 2 1/2 stars instead of 3. The place is not authentic. They'd be better off if they stated new Mexican fare or fresh Mexican fare. I went in hoping for AL Pastor- the marinated pork. I was told they had it. Waitress told me it was in one dish, I could tell this wasn't true. Getting past this, I ordered the steak chimichanga which while not authentic was actually pretty decent. The rice & beans were above average because of the rice which was similar to fried Chinese rice Beans were avg. The frozen margarita was a great disappointment. So good & bad but if it was advertised as a fresh take on Mexican, customers would not be expecting authentic & would know its a fresh take on Mexican & thusly wouldn't be disappointed. I thought this place was pretty good. One of the better restaurants to choose from that we saw driving through Red Wing. It was either Perkins ( no offense to them) or this place with a little more flair. Nice little outside patio. Good service. Food is pretty decent. Love the tight fried old-style tacos, and the Pollo de Caldo soup has to be another bar-none fave. The fajita plate without meat, also a creative solution personal eating preferences with ALL the flavor of a full-on meat dish. Have a margarita with a shot, and just the Nachos! Everything is HUGE helpings, delish! Family atmosphere with absolutely beautiful paintings that rival any outdoor scenes. Check out the lady caballero in the back room with the rodeo moves. Without a doubt my favourite Mexican restaurant. All others are rated on a scale of 1 to Fiesta. I travel to Red Wing for work every few weeks and I ALWAYS schedule a trip here. My favourite is the 17B burrito but if I go more than once per trip I will either get the daily special or try a dish I've never had. I have never had a meal here that was only average or below. I've been here alone as well as with a group of 15+ and the staff is always friendly and the service is always prompt. I strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal in Red Wing. read more

Yelpers are ripping on this place because it's not authentic enough. This is small town MINNESOTA people--you're right--they are probably not going to give you the fried iguana you ate on the side of the road in Mexico. I eat here at least a few times a month. I was in town for a week working on a project when our team decided to do dinner at this place. Having moved to the cities from California I've been ardently searching for a place in Minnesota with some decent mexican food and I'll have to say, this hit the spot! I ordered steak fajitas for dinner (I'd like to say it was less than $10) and received a small mountain of meat on its own plate, a second plate full of the standard fajita fare (beans, rice, roasted green peppers and onions, etc), and a stack of fresh tortillas. This was definitely one of the best fajita plates I've had in recent memory, enough so that I have since driven to Red Wing from the cities just to visit this place. I have driven by this place so many times. It seems to always be packed. In the area yesterday afternoon, I decided this would be the time to check it out. I walk in to find this family owned restaurant filled with lovely and fun mexican decor. I asked for a menu and was told I could take it to my car and look it over if I wanted to. Because, nobody does it all well or so that had been my belief system. I ordered the Chalupa meal with re-fried beans and rice. I also like variety so I ordered three different soft shell tacos. One true tell for me with good Mexican cuisine is the guacamole. Is it made on site? Is it fresh? Time would tell. I waited for about fifteen minutes. I didn't know what to expect but I really had an open mind. I had waited for a long time to try the food here. It was handed to me in a box and everything was neatly wrapped. So I drove home with the anticipation of a having good meal. Here's the deal: I have been to Mexico several time and really had missed authentic Mexican foods. So I opened my wrapped goodies to find huge tacos and other mouth watering food. The food was incredible. One word kept coming into my head, fresh!! It was authentic mexican cooking at its very finest. True test? The guacamole was heavenly. So delicate and packed with flavor. It was easy to taste that it was super fresh and delicious. I smeared it inside the tacos which were filled with equally fresh ingredients. The corn chips that were made there and the salsa was amazing. The experience was refreshing and it didn't disappoint. I was really hesitant to try a Mexican restaurant in Minnesota, to be honest. It's hard enough to find decent Mexican in my home state of Missouri, which is 500 miles closer to the border! So when my business associates insisted we try Fiesta Mexicana, I was cautious. The food was similar to any Mexican restaurant outside of the Southwest - a Tex-Mex fare, but with a Baja twist (lots of fresh veggies and sour cream, not a lot of heat). I ordered the vegetarian enchilada platter, since there were no vegetarian lunch specials. I was pleased to find out that the beans and rice are vegetarian - no chicken stock or lard used. The platter came with two corn tortilla enchiladas filled with zucchini, bell peppers, and some other chopped veggies; as well as refried beans, Mexican rice, and a generous amount of sour cream.
