"Minnesota Mild" is a real, problematic thing. We were not enthused by our visit here. I'm from California, my husband is from New Mexico, and we just moved to Minnesota after a long stint in Arizona. We found the food here despairingly bland, from the salsa and chips to our main entrees. My husband's fajitas were sizzling hot when they came out--as the picture shows--but it wasn't immediately evident that the food was actually burnt across the bottom. The one thing that was quite good was my strawberry margarita. I liked the ambience, too--they went all in on setting the mood. We won't be back, though.

Guava Margarita
Ernie H.

The margaritas are gigantic. The guava was excellent- I recommend you try it. Also highly recommended is the Tres Mares with shrimp scallops and fish. Even the Fish taste good. The shrimp and scallops were perfectly seasoned. The sides were all grilled veggies and salad greens with avocado. I can feast without feeling guilty. The fried ice cream was a perfect ending to our experience. Chips and Salsa are complimentary and the salsa was perfect. So why 4 stars? The taco dinner my daughter got was clearly the last steak of the night, it was dry, hard and tasted bland.

Combo with chalupa and enchilada. Good!
Michelle O.

Stopped by this restaurant today while out on a road trip. Started out with some Chili con Queso and added the Chorizo to it. It was a bit runny, but the flavor was great and there was plenty of chorizo too. I ordered the combo with a chalupa and an enchilada. The chalupa was HUGE (see picture)! I thought it would be more the size of a taco I guess. There was not enough filling to justify the size of the shell and I ended up pulling out the chicken and eating it with the rice instead and left the shell. The chicken was shredded and good quality though. The enchiladas was ground beef and very good flavor too. My husband had the fajitas with chicken, and again, found everything to be tasty and good quality. A good place with OK service. We would go again if we are down that way :)

Seems like fast food...everything is reheated or been heating all day...the margaritas are good..the waitress would rather be somewhere else

La Regia Market - birria pizza

This small market is tucked just off the major commerce on West Main. The parking lot is hidden at…read morethe back. There are two major facets of the market: a food counter and a small grocery store that specializes in Mexican/Guatemalan goods. There were some fresh items, like produce, vegetables, and cheese, but most of the stock is shelf-stable. LOTS of ingredients. I'm from California, so the vibe reminded me a lot of home, though the Guatemalan items were new and cool. Like, the frozen tamales weren't wrapped by corn husks, but with banana leaves. We were there to order food to go. Tip: it's probably best to order by phone or online, because they do make everything fresh. We had about a 30 minute wait, which was okay, because it gave us a good chance to study the grocery store. The food is well worth the wait, too. We ordered birria tacos and a birria pizza. Like I said, I'm from California, and then my husband is from New Mexico. We have had... mixed experiences in getting authentic, flavorful Mexican food in Minnesota. This stuff? Legit. Generous fillings, lots of flavor. I'm sensitive to hot spices and this was at a perfect level for me--hot to my judgment, but the kind of pleasant hot that washes away when I have some water. The tears I experienced were from sheer nostalgia is getting delicious food that reminds me of home. We will absolutely be getting food from here again!

Rancho Loco Grill & Bar - Churro's were so great!

Gave Rancho Loco another shot and it was not good. Like sad, not good. I did appreciate someone…read moreopening the door for me when she saw me coming in. I ordered a basic, beef hard shell taco and it was yucky. I barely ate it. It's hard to screw up a taco but this one had a mushy shell, no flavor to the beef and little to no lettuce, cheese, etc. Added salsa to it to jazz it up and it didn't help. I rack it up to the worst taco I've ever had. My friend ordered the fajita quesidilla and she liked her food. It looked appealing. I'm not sure what happened to the awesome chips they used to have (this was several years ago). I didn't even eat the chips and salsa. Chips are lousy - greasy, awful flavor and texture and salsa is no big shake. We ordered queso and again, hard to screw up queso, but it was so runny like water and had no flavor. We didn't even eat it. What really disappointed me is the lack of care around the restaurant. The doors and windows are so smudged up and dirty. It makes it feel unclean. Most of the booth cushions were ripped up. At first he sat me at at a table that's cushions were all ripped up. I would have been sitting on the innards of the booth. Second booth was a slight improvement - but still big, wide rip on the seat. Super bummed on how this restaurant has changed so much. I used to drive from Rochester to eat Mexican there because it was so good. It's safe to say that this was my last time there. Hope they listen feedback and make improvements. Like to support small businesses - but this spot needs a lot of TLC.

We love Bravis! Their new location is such an upgrade from their previous spot downtown Shakopee…read more Much more seating - booths, tables, picnic table style seats, bar seating. Love the murals on the walls celebrating the Minnesotan culture and icons. The service is always great, and the servers always have a good menu recommendation if you're unsure what to get. The bar has delicious drinks and their Jamaica juice is so refreshing on a hot summer day. Happy hour is a nice discount on some favorite items. I will say anything with shredded chicken isn't my favorite (not enough seasoning on the chicken for my taste) but everything else we've tried is a hit! We always start off with the chips and salsa flight and add cheese sauce - it's NOT a queso, there's no peppers or spice. The creamy green sauce is our favorite salsa they make, it's delicious on everything. The torta is a great choice if you're unsure what to get, the pineapple bowl is awesome if you're trying to share with others. Tacos and burritos are always a hit - I love the crunch of the pork belly and the flavor of the al pastor, taco toppings are onion and cilantro unless you get the loaded taco with slaw. The burrito could probably feed two people with an appetizer. It's a little higher priced than your typical plate of tacos but the quality of the food is always top notch, the kitchen is open and clean, and I've never left hungry or without leftovers. I will note - if you're looking for "traditional" Mexican food this probably isn't the spot you're looking for. It's still delicious just slightly different than what you'd get at your typical taqueria.

Homemade flavor and excellent service. Hard surfaces so a bit loud inside but plenty of patio…read moreoptions. Never disappointed. Pineapple bowl superb and shrimp outstanding. Most prices, these day, are higher than 12 months ago. Worth every cent.
