Let me preface this by saying this place is catering to a suburban clientele and local tourists. It is not curated to be authentic street food - it's meant for large portions, a beachy drink, a classic bar feel, and a fun time. Stopped in here after walking around Stillwater on a sunny Sunday. After having a beer on the water and a long walk, I decided it was time for some tacos. This place was absolutely packed, but as a solo traveler I was seated fairly quickly at a small table inside. Fun colorful and tropical decor. I ordered the Shrimp Tacos and a Margarita. The mason jar marg was salty and refreshing and the tacos were HUGE. The rice was cooked perfectly, the shrimp were large and had a nice pop, and overall the flavors were balanced! A little acid here, a little something savory there, a tangy sauce! Sorry, this was a big no for me. Overpriced, slow service (but they were busy but still 25 minutes for tacos is a long time to wait) and while portions look big, there was hardly any meat. Rice was crunchy and hard?! Oh and they charged for chips and salsa. Bill came to over 60 for 2 of us. For SIX TACOS and chips. A note: it's is ridiculously loud in there. The noise is not the restaurant chatter but a super big business of margarita mixing going on in the bar. Bottom line: Skip and go to chipotle and save your $$ for an above ground pool. :) read more

What can I say... other than I'm suprised Nacho Mama's isn't higher rated. We've been here many times and always have enjoyed the food and drinks. We went on a Wednesday night, it wasn't too busy so we were seated quickly. We sat inside, give it is early April and still chilly in the evenings. We had a carafe of house marg's to split between the three of us. We wanted a spicy version but they don't see them in carafe's so the, wonderful, bartender mulled some cucumber and jalapenios in individual cups for all of us. They were delicious! We started with chips and salsa while we chatted, the wait person was so accomidating and didn't rush us. We ordered three meals one being the classic enchilada bake with pork, the person that ordered that said it was very good. The other friend had the Shrimp Street Taco's and also said they were very good. I had the Smoothered Burritos with fajita vegi's. As usual, it was delicious. I've had 90% of the menu and it's all absolutely delicious every single time. We stopped by here on a Saturday as we were enjoying the last few days of the Fall Season. The restaurant looks small from the street however, when you walk inside it is very comfortable and cozy. We didn't know what to order so I picked the Smothered Burrito and my wife ordered the Barbeque Pork Burrito. We were NOT disappointed! The portion was so huge!! There must have been at least 3/4 of a pound of meat inside the burritos. The taste was phenomenal and we couldn't get over how well everything was prepared. The portions were so large that we had to ask for "to go" containers so we could enjoy another meal at our home with the leftovers. For a Taco Tuesday, we expected it to be busier. We waited for some time at the door to be greeted/acknowledged and seated, enough time, that we went looking for someone that worked there. Once seated we ordered the nachos, figuring they must be good if they are part of the name. We also ordered a side of queso. The nachos were just okay with a weird garlic seasoning, like someone just took garlic powder and sprinkled it across the dish. The queso also had a weird smoky bacon flavor that wasn't expected and not for me. The seating area was also crawling with flies and really loud. It was difficult to hear conversations. This is going to be an unpopular opinion based on other reviews but I think if you find these to be the best nachos in MN, you should broaden your horizons. This place is a solid choice for a patio margarita but it doesn't seem like most things on the menu would/should far exceed your expectations. I feel bad for giving three stars because there wasn't anything wrong, but I didn't get a great vibe from the service as is typical in Stillwater, and the food is just... okay?! This is one of my favorite restaurants to go to when I am in downtown Stillwater. The atmosphere was perfect for a Sunday night dinner. Service: The service we had was phenomenal. Our food and drinks came out in record time and the server was very attentative the whole night. Food: The food was delicious. We also shared delicioua pork nachos at the beginning. I left my leftovers at the restaurant and I'm still sad about it 24 hours later - that's how good the meal was. I stopped by at 6pm on a Monday night for a little girls night. They have a nice, quiet patio with a lot of shade, and yes, it is dog friendly (but there might not be a lot of space if Fido is a big good boy!). We started with drinks - a pina colada for me, and a margarita for my friend. They make great drinks! And the price is great! We also tossed in an order of guacamole. It was amazingly flavorful. If you're a Minnesotan like us, you should know that their jalapeños are HOT - prepare yourself accordingly! What I liked most about this app is that it naturally comes gluten free with the corn chips, which are fried fresh. For mains, my friends got the enchilada bake and I got the carne asada. THE PORTIONS ARE WILD. We knew we would be taking home part of the meal before we even started. She said the enchilada bake is always one of her favorites. My steak was so tasty - tender, sweet flavor, with awesome toppings and a quesadilla soaking up the marinade. YUM. Prices are also great, especially for summer in Stillwater. read more

As other reviewers have stated we were waiting to be greeted for a very long time as employee after employee walked past us making eye contact and then ignoring us, I could have overlooked that, however, if the food was at least good. Unfortunately, the burrito I got, which was truly massive was incredibly salty had no flavor and did not resemble anything that I would consider Mexican. The dining area lighting is a little too dark for me. Bummed when I realized they didn't offer free chips and salsa. Ordered some for 4$. Not bad but eh. Ordered fajitas to share. This is a fun, lively Mexican restaurant with a good selection of menu items including a lettuce wrap taco for those watching carbs. The portions were HUGE and ingredients were fresh. Our table had the taco salad, fajita, chimichanga and shrimp tacos. Everyone said their food was great, however the shrimp tacos were unexpectedly hot/spicy to the point that I could not eat them. There was no indication of this on the menu, which was disappointing. Had I known this I would have made a different menu choice and had a more enjoyable experience. We were in town on vacation and I asked one of the locals where I should eat. She recommended this place. Don't trust her! Ugh. First of all, the place is small. The staff was friendly, but they were screaming across the restaurant about who was doing more work and who was watching sports on tv. We ordered guacamole and an enchilada casserole to share. The guacamole came out and my husband said "you know what this guacamole could use? Flavor". It tasted like store bought guacamole. Zero flavor. The enchilada casserole was huge. We got a to go order there Friday afternoon for lunch. We had the elote/Mexican street corn, and the pulled pork BBQ burrito. It was all really good. The elote in particular was delicious; for $6, we got two cobs. The burrito was huge. We split it and still had leftover food. The pork had a little heat to it, but nothing outrageous.
