Butter chicken and butter naan (2 orders) with mango lassi small
Chloe L.

A hole-in-the-wall and a surprising find! The place looks unassuming from the outside, but the food and drinks were genuinely delicious. Drink ordered: Mango Lassi (8/10): Refreshing with a lovely mango flavor and just the right thickness--it wasn't too hard to drink through the straw, which I appreciated. Food ordered: Butter Naan (8/10): So good, but I do wish the portion was larger. My boyfriend and I each got one order and ended up inhaling it. It wasn't clearly listed on the menu, but they had it when we asked--same with the butter chicken. Butter Chicken with Rice (8/10): As a butter chicken fan, I was happy with this one. The flavor was rich and comforting, though I would've liked a bit more chicken. The rice was just okay--nothing special on its own--but it worked well once mixed with the sauce. Personally, I would've preferred more naan instead. There's minimal indoor seating--just a few bar stools by the window--but there is outdoor seating available, shared with nearby restaurants. Be aware that the outdoor area can feel a little sketchy at times due to the surrounding foot traffic, which took away from the atmosphere a bit, though that's not the business's fault. I personally preferred sitting inside, even with the limited space. The one who took our order was helpful and food came out quickly.

Chicken Biryani

I got the Chicken Biryani to go. It came with a side of yogurt. It was delicious and warm and the portion size was huge! It was enough for 2 meals in my opinion. I will definitely be trying the Chicken Tikka Burrito as I see it is highly recommended.

I never knew I needed a chicken tikka burrito until now! We ordered this via Door dash to a hospital in Oakland! The burrito was piping hot still! I got riata and tamarin chutney! 50/10 My burrito was soooo damn good ! I started to order again before I finished the first one! Spectacular burrito! They used tandoori chicken ! Sorry for the half eaten photo! The even put my name on it!

Chicken Tikka Burrito

I ordered the Chicken Tikka Burritos with a friend of mine and they were out of this world. We instantly ordered seconds after our food, and heavily debated thirds to bring home with us. Staff was pleasant and quick with service, and the music was at an appropriate level. I wish I lived closer, because this would be my every meal.

Veggie Samosa- (1pc) Fresh Hot Chai

Food was really tasty and the staff was nice :) Very easy place to stop by and get a quick bite.

Got the chicken biryani, veggie biryani, veggie samosa, cilantro garlic naan, gulabjamun, fresh sweet lassi, and the fresh aloo paratha. I loved all the food as it was flavorful, spiced evenly, and packed a punch with every bite, the samosas had a great crunch, though the naan and paratha were a bit on the burnt side. The sauces were good with the samosas and the naan and added a ton of flavor. My favorite was the biryanis as the rice and onions were so flavorful and tasty in themselves. I did not like the lassi as much due to personal preferences, but it was a great aspect to try out overall. Order on Snackpass for a discount! It's right in the gourmet ghetto!

Pretty dang good imo tried for the first time with my daughter. I also got the veggie samosa not pictured, but food was flavorful.

Honestly not horrid - however, I would have loved for my chicken tikka masala to have a lot more flavor and intensity.

Recently my son and his…read moregirlfriend went to tour Berkeley, because she's super smart and he's a great athlete (great couple .) So since we're in the city of culture I wanted to fully delve myself and my new family into this beautiful establishment. (Long story short my son's girlfriend is half Afghanistani and half Cubana) (She's spicy and we love her ) (Amazing addition to the family) We came here in honor of her beautiful mixed culture, might I say... I LOVED IT!!! So first of all, I ordered a burrito (since it's my review the kids' orderes' don't matter) this burrito was the best thing I've ever put in my mouth and I've put a lot in there. The meat was so tender and tasteful and tubular and tummy exciting I have to know the recipe for my future grandkids . Second of all the service was divine and the server was cute and polite might I add. Third of all, I just loved the overall expierence and I definitely will be coming back. Thank you Afghani Burrito.

I ordered in person for a to go order and there was no line, but ended up having to wait almost 40 minutes to get my burrito. I had to check at the window after 35 mins and they completely forgot to make it. Finally got my chicken and steak burrito and took it home only to find out there was no steak in the burrito.. So I paid extra for something I didn't get and had my time wasted. On top of that I left a tip after ordering even though I did a to go order. Hate to leave a negative review because the food actually tasted quite good but this was a terrible experience.

The restaurant is fairly small with probably about a half a dozen tables, etc. The owner was very polite, and thankfully very patient with us for a friends lunch. We originally had plans for another restaurant, but this location, etc. worked out. Everyone spent quite a bit of time catching up, and we were made to feel at home. I ordered a side of fries for a shareable at the table. I found the fries to be very underwhelming and needed more seasoning and considering that it's seven dollars for a side of fries the serving was pretty mediocre. I ordered the lamb/beef gyro plate. The side salad was very fresh and had a light vinaigrette dressing. I would have liked for the dressing to be more of an actual vinaigrette flavor. The rice was light and fluffy, but again, lacked seasoning/flavor. The side of yogurt sauce, was tasty, but did not hit the spot. Why? Because it really lacked the flavors. Notice a theme? I will say, the meat was tender, and it had a really nice flavor to it. It was delicious enough that it was very difficult to differentiate between a lamb flavor versus a beef flavor. It all tasted good together. The soft drinks are rather pricey. It was around $3.50 for a bottled Coke. Yikes! When we were done with our meal, we were served complementary hot tea. It was a nice touch.

I got an assortment of Turkish delight and some pistachio baklava ($2.99). The Turkish delight is sold by weight across all the varieties and goes for $16.99/lb. The guy behind the counter was super friendly and offered us a sample of one of the flavors to try which I thought was a nice gesture. Everything looked so good, so we picked a couple different pieces of Turkish delight to try. To my surprise, my favorite ended up being the saffron, though rose petal with pomegranate and sour cherry with pastachio were close seconds. I didn't like the coconut or the chocolate one that much, so reminder to myself to skip those next time. After picking up the dessert, I did a quick circle around the store to see what they had. The café bartenders are always kind -- once they even let me use the bathroom before I realized the laundromat had one. I've ordered a beer while waiting for my clothes to dry and was welcomed to sit with my dog on the back patio. The atmosphere is warm and accommodating. The market itself is a treasure trove: shelves filled with Middle Eastern dry goods, nuts, dried fruits, spices, blends, and condiments you can't find anywhere else. Kofta, shish kebab, falafel, sumac, garam masala -- it's all here. They also carry pita, lavash, labna, and other breads and yogurts that make cooking from scratch feel like heaven. Bonus points for the large assortments of delicious house made baklavas! Even without a full kitchen, the prepared foods are excellent. I ordered falafel, eggplant dip, hummus, and cucumber salad from the to‑go counter -- a mini feast for $26 that didn't disappoint. **Verdict:** Courteous service, respectful staff, and a fantastic selection. Whether you're cooking at home or grabbing a bite, this place is a gem. Highly recommended.
