Amazing food. Amazing atmosphere. Wonderful and attentive staff. My boyfriend has never had Indian food before today and I was craving it so we checked this place out. We *loved* it. We had the coconut curry, chicken kabab, double rice, and garlic naan for about $45 give or take a few bucks. Very filling and a must stop. read more

Tried this place on our way back hone from fort Bragg, and was not disappointed. My favorites were their tea, was very flavorful and chole bhature, so so good. Also ordered their chicken tikka masala as the single entree with rice and found it about alright, could have been if chicken was cooked more may be. Will be back to try more of their stuff and definitely their chole bhature and tea! read more

Punjabi Dhaba - Outside - Indian Near Me - Berkeley, California

Great new addition to the Southside! Been here twice, and the service was very fast (waited for less than 5 min each time after ordering through Snackpass). The owner is friendly and attentive. He told me he's planning on adding Indian ice creams to the menu which I'm super excited about. My favorite so far is Paneer Tikka Masala. It's a perfect mixture of tangy and creamy and really hits the spot. If you're a big eater like myself, I recommend Vegetable Combo ($12 +tax) which includes two entrees, naan, and rice. Looking forward to trying other veg items on the menu! read more

Oh my yum yum yum! So freaking delish, I came back twice in the span of two days. Tiki Masala burrito fufilled my dreams, and 14$ is good price for the SIZE of the food. Not sure what the rest of the reviews are yapping about, but I couldn't finish either the burrito OR regular tiki masala. Guy at counter was nice, quick, and packed my burrito nice and tight. Laughed at the memes on the wall, good touch (clean too). Only complaint: not enough chicken in my tiki masala :(, I ran out quick and only had the sauce and rice. Still so buss though. Will come back asap! read more

Delicious Indian Food! They obviously opened during a difficult time and are in the Durant Food Court (Asian Ghetto) which caters to 90% students and with classes being online only, a lot of the students didn't move/return to Berkeley this Fall. Nonetheless, this place is the bomb! I ordered Chicken Tikka with fresh naan and red onions on the side. All items were fresh and tasty! read more

You can order yourself through kiosk. This is located around many different options and dessert. Me and my partner got the chicken masala and coconut curry with garlic cheese naan and regular naan. The Chicken masala was a 10/10. Sooo gooooddd. The Coconut curry was not bad and tasty. But I preferred the masala major. The garlic cheese naan wasn't as cheesy as I wanted it to be. It's like little pieces of cheese inside. Total including drink was about $43. Not much meat. But flavoring was delicious. Be careful eating outside or you'll get attacked by pigeons lol Small setting indoor but there's options to sit at the window. read more

before i say anything, let me just say that my bf would sell his soul to single handedly keep this place alivebc he loves it that much. personally, while i wouldn't say it's the best indian food i've ever had in my life, it's definitely a great bang for your buck for some solid indian food! located inside asian ghetto and conventiely located near campus, it's a good spot to get a hotgrab-and-go meal:) the workers are super sweet and diligent in preparing the order, and i haven't have a bad experience so far! -- -- -- pictured: " chicken tikka masala ($12.00) // super big portions of creamy tikka masala and rice! the flavor is more on the mild side, but I still enjoyed it regardless! " garlic naan ($3.50) // literally cannot go wrong with some fresh naanit was so fluffy and had the right amount of garlicdispersed throughout! perfect for dipping into the tikka masala as well:) -- -- -- if you're in the mood for some affordable and solid indian food around berkeley, i'd give it a shot! read more

Amazing new spot near the campus! Sad to see Shihlin go, but I am up for any new Indian restaurants in Berkeley :)) Came around 4pm, the shop wasn't busy so I got my chicken + rice plate really fast, and only had to wait about 3 minutes for the FRESHLY MADE(!!!) garlic naan. It was very nice seeing the naan being made in front of me. Customer service was also A+. The employee was waiting by the window for customers and helped me right away and was super welcoming read more

This is a wonderfully kind family business. I have an unusual order that they accommodate every time with grace and pleasure. Their food is delicious and consistent! My favorite dish is their tikka masala which is creamy and rich with flavor. Although located next to the Berkeley campus, I greatly suggest all locals try their food. read more

Got the paneer tikka masala burrito, with garlic naan as the wrap. I was worried naan and rice would be too heavy, but somehow it was perfect and not too dense. Heavenly, especially on a cold night. read more

Food is good. But don't expect any chicken In your $18 plate. Never coming back. Kids plate all day.

I was craving a chicken tikka burrito and was so hungry that I was willing to pay $17 for it. I expected a Chipotle-sized thick burrito that I could save for two meals (I have a small appetite). It was good but not worth $17. It was a small-to-average size burrito, and I ate it in one sitting which I never do. Other than that, a single tandoori leg with naan costing less than $10 is really nice for someone with a small appetite. And their chicken tikka masala always hits!! The main guy who works there is always nice. The place is clean and has a cool modern vibe to it. The price is probably not their fault, maybe inflation. I do think for students it would be appreciated to assign a better price or make the burrito size larger. $17 is just crazy to me. I expected something bigger than my head. read more

If someone's never experienced North Indian cuisine before, I'm sure they'll love this place. Everything from the ambiance to the food itself has a welcoming Indian feel on a surface level. I also really like the puns on the wall. The location is also huge plus--it's in Asian Ghetto and walkable from Unit 2. On to the food itself. Once again, the prices are quite high, even if you're just getting one samosa, but there isn't much competition with lower prices for the same food that's super nearby (walkable), so I guess you take what you can get. The garlic naan is amazing--soft, spongy, garlicky. Definitely one of the better naans I've had in the Bay. The sabzis/curries are very mediocre. The texture is great, very rich, but the flavor is pretty flat. Pretty much everything has the taste of tikka sauce or is too watery to analyze. As someone who lives and breathes this cuisine, I'd really appreciate something spicy, tangy, and smoky, like a dhaba-style kadhai paneer, on the menu. Service is so-so. They accept Snackpass, but it's usually quite a wait, though with the high demand and preparation time to make fresh food, I can't exactly blame them for this. It just means it's all fresh :). Everyone is super friendly and understanding, and it's honestly a joy to witness them cook while you wait. But if you get any takeout option that has even a little bit of oil, like any of their curries, be prepared for the oil to bleed through the packaging, and for anything not separately packaged to mix into one amalgamation. From what I recall, they also sell Indian Lays and some other grocery items like samosas and Maggi here, but the prices are so high I'd never consider buying them here instead of at an Indian grocery store. As someone who's not exactly a huge fan of any of their curries, here's my goto order (a bit of an unconventional one, I'm sure). I get the garlic naan with the aloo tikki chaat. I treat the aloo tikki chaat like a sabzi/curry in itself, scooping it with the naan, and it's honestly better (spicier and more flavorful) than most of the actual curries on the menu, so yeah. I would give them three stars by the content of this review, but I'm adding an extra star because this place still has my heart by nostalgia. Take this as a 3.5. read more

This place is LEGIT. One of the best Punjabi / Indian restaurants in the Bay Area. Ordered the naan, chicken and vegy combo and it's just fantastic. Quality, authentic, big portions and a nice little kick to it as well. Can't recommend enough. read more

This is my new favorite Indian food place. All the food I've ordered here is phenomenal. My family has ordered delivery twice. They were fast both times. They don't use a delivery service (which is probably why the food arrived hot and on time), so hopefully they will continue to deliver their own food. The food is consistently delicious. The prices are great/affordable and the portions are big. Things we tried that I highly recommend: Samosa Chaat, Sag Paneer, Veg Masala, Aloo Falee (green beans), Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Korma. The Raita is AMAZING and very special. The cashew golden raisin naan is AMAZING. The tandoori chicken leg delicious. The Rasmali is a sweet and subtly aromatic dessert. The spice level is perfect for me. I don't think I ever specified a "spiciness" level, so I'm interpreting what I've received as about a "medium" on a stereotypical U.S. palate. I hope they remain in business forever...TELL ALL of YOUR FRIENDS. and then post a review so this great restaurant will survive through the economic covidtastrophe. read more

I ordered delivery through the Yelp app and the food was great but the restaurant should really reconsider partnering with GrubHub. The Yelp delivery function, which connects you to GrubHub, estimated 25-35 min for delivery, but it wasn't delivered for a full hour. When the driver finally dropped it off it was ice cold and they didn't call, text, ring the doorbell or knock. The receipt showed that the restaurant prepared the food within 15 min, so really this review is just to warn people against using GrubHub because their customer service is also a scam, I waited for their phone/online chatbots for over an hour "first in cue" and they never responded. read more

Very filling and delicious Indian food close to campus. The people that work here are very nice and welcoming. Really bad quality food- the samosa chaat had total dalda smell ( worst quality fatty oil), too spicy. The pav bhaji had only red chili, no taste, the Oc was soaked in oil. We usually go here because it's fast, pretty tasty and reasonably priced. Just ordered and the prices went up A LOT (chicken tikki masala is now $16.90!), it took over 20 minutes when all entrees are already made, they got my order wrong (should have checked it before I left but told her my order three times), the spinach dish was watery and bland, and the naan was burnt and hard. The short version: DEE best Indian option you'll find in the Southside. If you're close to campus, no need to go any further, hands down. The long version: For somebody so picky, this place surprised me. In a good way of course. I had their chicken tikka masala which was very good and their mixed veggies with potatoes and bell peppers was a really good compliment to the protein. What stood out for me though were the little things they got right. The rice smelled and tasted fresh. The naan bread with the touch of herbs was very chewy and delicious. And the raita was probably one of the best I've had, and if you like yogurt along with your Indian food, you must try their raita. Though they may not have a full menu due to the current situation, they pretty much got everything else right, and then some. read more

ordered the chicken combo with coconut chicken curry and paneer tikka masala (comes with rice and 2 pieces of naan), garlic naan, and a vegetable samosa. portion sizes are really big -- lasted me around 3 meals! especially loved the coconut chicken curry for how creamy and rich it was. the only thing was i ordered takeout and the bottom of the plastic container tore open. read more

4.5 stars rounded up, got chicken tikka masala burrito, EXTREMELY comforting, so flavorful, made me feel warm and cozy esp. with naan

We came here to get a few treats on a cold ass runny nosed day. No one else patronized the restaurant so I was a little apprehensive . However, as I continued to gaze at the menu the owner came out and suggested that it was Ok to come in to take a look at their offerings. Timidly I obliged, pointed at a few items such as the Naan with cheese and Samosas. With a genuine smile and gregarious personality he (the owner) described what each dish was. We ordered the fore mentioned and took a walk while we waited for some fresh naan to be made. Getting lost in technical conversation and the comfort of my man's warm grasp, the beeps and exhaust of speeding cars prevent us from crossing the street. As we finally hustle midway through traffic I look up and the gentleman from the restaurant is approaching us with a bag. To our surprise he walked the order over to us. Now how considerate is that?! Not only was he a charm but the food was excellent!! We'll be back! (In my Schwarzenegger's voice) read more
