We lined up at our 730pm check-in time and waited 35 minutes in the cold and were only halfway through the line. We left because it would have been another 25-35 more minutes to get through the line. This patch is cute…read more The haunted trail costs $15 per person and there are scheduled appointment times to go in, however the line backs up and you have to wait at least 30 minutes past your appointment time before entering. We did not enter the trail until 720pm, and that is after getting in line at 640pm. Just be aware. Which is fine, my family had fun and the actors inside are funny and well rehearsed. However, since we waited so long, we got out of the trail around 750pm. My kid wanted to play the carnival games, which close at 8pm, so we bought some tickets to play, and were out to the carnival by 752pm, they had already taken everything down and had only a few simple games still up. My kid was bummed, but I figured since there were no refunds, I could go back and get a snack instead with my tickets. I was denied and told to come back next week to redeem the tickets. I know this is all for a good cause and it really isn't too big of a deal, but it is silly that I literally bought the tickets within a minute and then walked back after the carnival being closed and then denied to even use the tickets on anything else and then told to come back next week. They were told not to sell any tickets since they were closing up the carnival early, but I guess it wasn't communicated well. I guess we will be back to use up the tickets next weekend...?

Also included blueberries, 2 green peppers, an onion, celery, snap peas, mini romaine lettuce (little gem), romanesco, spinach, and Nantes carrots. Their CSA model is a bit different than others I've tried. Rather than giving you everything from their farm, they source from different local farms. They also deliver which is probably why the price is a bit higher ($44 I think). And the produce seems to be a bit more polished. I mean the carrots and spinach still had dirt, the produce seemed fresh, it clearly still came from a farm. But it was like a smaller cut bunch of spinach tied together, not a huge more wild bunch mostly left alone. Strawberries and blueberries were in plastic boxes. I think the produce visually looked better (and the strawberries were noticeably more fragrant) than other CSA boxes which makes sense. These farms are producing them for Greenhearts which is essentially a distributor or buyer or something so aesthetics playing a bigger role than a farm selling you whatever they have directly makes sense. The produce was all good. But it kind of felt like stuff I could just get from a farmers market or something. The exceptions were maybe the romanesco - very beautiful - and carrots - I don't see the Nantes variety that often in stores and the roasted carrot dish I made was truly exceptional and the sweet carrots were the star. For me, I think I prefer the single farm model more and I don't mind picking up my produce. Given the coordination they have to do and the delivery aspect, I do think the price is probably fair though the quantities are generally pretty moderate. There's also fewer add on options than other CSA models if you care about that. Overall it was a solid box but I did wish there was more of a few items and you do pay a premium for the delivery and the visually nice produce.

The Pumpkin patch is sponsored by the staff and clients that work at Pomeroy Recreation & Rehabilitation center. If you are not aware, Pomeroy provides a different variety of programs for children, teens, youth as well as seniors which include: Therapeutic Swimming Pool., Gym, Computer lab, playground, theater with stage and the amazing community garden. In this amazing community garden is where the Pomeroy Pumpkin Patch takes place. From October 1st-October 31st from 10AM-5PM (Closed on Sunday) the pumpkin patch is open to the whole community. The staff and participants in the center work super hard in putting together this wonderful event. There are pumpkins, face painting, they sale food and drinks, and great games and rides for all ages. They also have a bounce house that is $3. FOOD & DRINKS: The pumpkin patch does sale special food and drinks. Please note that the booth is usually participants of the Pomeroy center and are learning while on the job. They serve: Chocolate chip/ White cholate macadamia cookies which are $2. Infused water is $2. Wreaths are $15. They also sale fruit, chips and fruit snacks as well for a decent price.
