Pumpkin season would not be complete without a day at a pumpkin patch. Farmer John offers a day of fun with free parking along the main road and various vendors in the pumpkin patch. This place is family friendly and dog friendly. One thing to note for small curly hair dogs, theres a lot of small spikey balls on the floor that may end up in your dogs coat. Pumpkin selection is fantastic here. Every shape, every color, every size you could ask for.. they've got it. We took home some caramel apple pies and pumpkin pies and they were tasty! They had a lot of pie crust but its okay.. because I love pie crust haha. This pumpkin farm is on the smaller side so I wouldn't expect to spend more than an hour here. Stopped by Farmer John's Pumpkin farm to pick up a few small pumpkins for the house after seeing it from the side of the highway, and had a great time here! Parking in Half Moon Bay can be tough, but luckily there was plenty of street side parking near the entrance. Once inside the farm, they had different sections with a variety of different pumpkins for you to choose from. We were looking for smaller pumpkins, and they had them organized towards the front by size and color, we picked what we wanted and headed over to cashier. They take card and cash, and the prices were very reasonable. Another thing that sets this spot from other places is that they had different snack/drink vendors setup with tents and carts. They had hand pies, fresh lemonade, and other desserts available for purchase. They also had a couple different areas for photo opportunities for your Fall OOTD. Coming here was a reminder that there's so many great local farms on the coastside, and to go out and support the local farmers here in the Peninsula. read more

October essentially turns Half Moon Bay into one big cute Pumpkin Farm with this one sitting nicely right before you venture onto the 92. Farmer John offers all the coziness you'd want from a pumpkin farm visit. Plenty of photo ops, plenty of pumpkins, plenty of cute doggies visiting. Good pumpkin selection: ye olde orange ones, white ones, big ones, cute tiny ones, gourd looking ones, green ones and some funky shaped ones. They also sold Brussels sprouts, cornstalks and hay bales if you want to turn your house into a Pinterest board or Instagram reel. Pumpkins aren't cheap but that's to be expected from a patch. We bought 5 big ones and 4 little ones and it was like $60. They have a big parking in the back that makes it a tad easier to visit but will make your car look incredibly dusty. Some food trucks and stands for coffee, pie and corn. Right next door is Andreotti's which also has great offerings so you can do a two in one. read more

Farmer John's Pumpkin Farm is one of the few free alternatives as opposed to the pricier entry fees of other Half Moon Bay pumpkin patches. During the pumpkin festival, this was one of our first stops because of it's proximity to main street as well as being situated right next to another patch next door as well as the ability to park for free along the curb running down the street. The ambiance of this particular farm is pretty down to earth, with the focus being on the pumpkins and a few food offerings rather than a ton of bells and whistles you might find at some other giant operations. The variety of pumpkins strewn about the large hay lot is impressive: large, small, plump, skinny, you name it. There are little nooks as you walk about with photo opportunities galore and other fun activities like the hay ride for a fee. We really enjoyed this pumpkin patch! After researching a bunch of options in Half Moon Bay, my friend picked this one mainly because there's no entrance fee. Getting here from the Peninsula wasn't the easiest since traffic can get pretty bad, but it was worth it once we arrived. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by a charming spread of pumpkins, a good variety and photo-worthy spots. I also loved that they had a pie and coffee food truck on-site since we rushed out that morning without coffee. We went on the hayride for $8 per person, which gave us a nice little tour around the farm. Overall, it was a lovely, low stress, and fun fall outing. Cute little farm! We took pictures and purchased pumpkins. They have food and a corn maze (I think I didn't go in it), and the pumpkins are cheap. They don't charge you for parking or to enter the farm. I will be coming here every year from now on making the drive from San Jose because that's how much I loved it! read more

I'm glad we visited Farmer John's Pumpkin Farm, what a great pumpkin patch, spacious, clean, family AND dog friendly! Just off Hwy 35, easy drive from SF, ample parking. We got about 12 various size pumpkins for $50, reasonably priced. Note there's a 3% fee on all credit card charges. We did the hayride ($10/ person), nothing fancy, but a relaxing 15 min tour around the 21 acre farm. It runs every 30 minutes. There's a mobile food truck and bathrooms. Would be nice if they played some background music to create some festive ambiance. Will definitely return! read more

What a great family spot. Our friends invited us for the Annual Bernese Mountain Dog Day meetup where we got to hang out with a majestic pack amongst other pups. There was a hay ride, delicious cookies and lemonade for sale and of course, pumpkins! This was our first experience with my lil senior pup at a pumpkin patch and we had an awesome time doing a mini photo shoot for him. This is a really cute pumpkin patch in half moon bay! The pumpkins do not seem to grow here, but are instead arranged around the farm to look natural, which I find funny. It wasn't crowded when I went so I was able to take my time in finding the perfect pumpkins. They also have some sweet treats for sale and other produce you can buy. I noticed a hay ride, but it said something about having to buy tickets. Otherwise, just coming here is a free experience. The customer service here is sooooo great. Everyone was super friendly! I gave a four star rating because I found their cookies (a bag was $15) be a little over priced and the hay ride was $10/per ticket which also overpriced imo. We came here since it was next to the sunflower field and saw a huge variety of pumpkins. No entrance fee so you just park in their lot or around the street and walk in. They charge for the pumpkins based on the size. I had to ask for pricing since it seems ambiguous. The pumpkins are already cut so they're just on the ground neatly placed. There's a photo spot and a sunflower field next to it. They have signs to not go in the sunflowers which kept them looking great. read more

I'd like to dedicate my 1st review of 2023 to Farmer John's Pumpkin Farm. My visit took place back in October of 2022 and it was a lovely first experience as the day of my visit was also a special events day filled with Bernese Mountain dogs! It's awesome that this farm doesn't charge parking or an entrance fee, yet provides lots of photo and shopping opportunities. During my visit, there were LOTS of pumpkins available. They set up a couple of displays where you can take photos. You can view some of the farm animals, but no interactions. Farmer John even made an appearance greeting every visitor as a section in the back of the farm was reserved for the Bernese Mountain dogs event. I showed up and started chit chatting with many friendly folks. Farmer John's relatives were also in attendance mingling with everyone. One of the relatives pointed out Farmer John's dog, but when you put a group of Bernese Mountain dogs together, it's hard to tell them apart! Complimentary tours of the perimeter were conducted through tractor rides, I thought about riding, but I was more interested in playing with the dogs. We stopped for some Halloween pumpkins and found every size known to man in spite of it being five weeks before Halloween! Small, medium and as big as you want pumpkins, different colored pumpkins, you name it, it's here. Conveniently, they offer carts to store your pumpkins as you make it around the property - not to mention getting them to your car! This has been our favorite pumpkin patch for more than 12 years. No entry fee and free parking, with a focus on pumpkins. And there are so many varieties! It's pricier than grocery stores and mall pop-ups, but a much better experience, and the drive is beautiful. The big attractions - on top of all the pumpkins - used to be a hay pyramid, a tractor, and a teepee. They replaced the pyramid with hay bale couches, and added a greenery tunnel, some sheep and goats, hay rides, and a coffee stand. There's also a table on the side selling succulent arrangements (in mini pumpkins), jewelry, and harvest/Halloween themed glasses and tea towels for $5-$30. If you're driving south on the PCH, make a right on Frontage Rd - right after Venice Blvd - to avoid traffic. We took home 3 small pumpkins for $9, a steal. They have a giant table filled with pumpkins for $3 each. They also have large carving pumpkins. Standard jack-o-lantern, white ghost pumpkins, Cinderella style, orange and green variegated, mushroom pumpkins, pumpkins with warts, gourds, and corn. There are so many different types to choose from. They have wagons so you can haul your favorites around. They also have hayrides, decorated sugar cookies and dog treats. Last weekend i took my kids to Farmer Johns pumpkin patch. We had a great time looking for a verity of pumpkins. We decided on a few non traditional pumpkins which was cool. Also my kids had a great time seeing the Goats, Longhorns, and riding the wagon. Overall a great experience. Tip - I would say park in the front. Come to Half Moon Bay early, otherwise you'll just be sitting in traffic! I have seen the traffic going into HMB every October and I knew we had to drive down early enough in the morning. We left a little before 9am and there were already a good amount of cars but not enough for it to be stop and go. There is a very small parking lot next to the entrance but I'm sure it gets filled up easily. Parking is available along both sides of the street but it also got filled up. Everyone wore their masks and were socially distant and I appreciated that! Especially since there are so many families and kids running around. This is also a pet-friendly pumpkin patch and it was so fun to see all the cute dogs (some with a costume!) along with the kids. There was a good amount of space and we were able to take some pictures with no one in the background before it got super busy! By the time we left, there was a looot of traffic already going into HMB. Going early is definitely the smart choice! I would definitely come back again in the future! read more

Farmer John's Pumpkin Farm is a cute farm you can find along Hwy 1. Surprisingly there are a lot of farms off of Hwy 1. My husband and I came here with our little girl because a friend of ours had informed us that this cute pumpkin patch is dog friendly. There are bowls of water left out for dogs. But because you are walking on dirt, the water in the bowl may be dirty. Also both you and your dog's paws will be really dirty before you head back to your car (would be best to bring paw wipes for clean up you can wipe them with some water and paper towels at the sink by the porta potties in the parking lot (free, also dirt lot). It would be best to wear closed toed shoes when you come. We came here on a Thursday around 12:20 pm and it wasn't too busy. After walking around, I ended up deciding to purchase 3 pumpkins. But there were not prices around and were not informed of the price until we went to the register (they accept credit card without a minimum transaction). A women (whom I suspect could be the owner or a manager?) that saw us told us the price and an employee behind the register rang us up. She told us $4 at first when we only brought one very small orange pumping and one small white pumpkin to the register. But then my husband saw another pumpkin and decided to add it our purchase. The lady then said $7. After I paid for my items, I was surprised to see that an extra small orange pumpkin was added in our bag by the employee who rang us up. I was not expecting that and thought it was very nice of the employee to throw in an freebie. Overall, I am glad that we were able to visit this farm with our little girl dog and purchase a few cute pumpkins. Would definitely recommend coming here during the season to purchase pumpkins and/ or gourds. read more

We visited this patch yesterday and it was our first time, it was Monday and we arrived at 5 pm, as we walked in the cashier greeted us, we grabbed a wagon and in we went. The pumpkins are all laid out by type and they have many varieties, they have many photo options and even farm animals and a donkey!. The only thing is you can't touch them or feed. They are dog friendly too. It was a sunny afternoon and we chose our pumpkins, took photos and enjoyed the patch. They do offer hay rides,but we were too late for it and miss the chance to tour the farm. I would recommend this farm, but go early so you enjoy the other activities. It's free, dog-friendly, has cute wagons available for use and has free parking! Definitely think it's worth a stop if you're nearby or in the area. It is somewhat small but it's also free so I feel like for the fact that you don't have to pay for parking or entry it's really cute and they do a good job. There's different photo ops too like the tent, the tractor and a blue truck of pumpkins with a giant teddy bear. I have a small pomeranian and he really enjoyed being pulled in the wagon. I'd say the only cons are that it's somewhat small and the selection of pumpkins seemed limited and not the greatest. The prices are fair though. The one other thing though is they weren't really regulating for covid restrictions - they were not limiting how many people entered and no one was checking for masks. They did try to clean the wagons after uses but no one seemed like they were dedicated to it. I absolutely love Farmer Johns and was so excited to hear it would continue being Farmer Johns after the legend himself retired! Went there on opening day, loved how every single pumpkin was meticulously laid out (very pleasing to the eyes)! Loved the addition of the farm animals, sooooo darn cute! Have to say, my one negative is that the prices are by far not the same, which was disappointing. Definitely have been raised, wasn't expecting to pay $25 for a few mini pumpkins (my friend paid $50!). All in all, I'm happy to still have Farmer Johns and I love the goats!
