Very nice early evening experience. Walking distance to our hotel. The limoncello martini was…read morestrong and a little tart for my taste but nice with a splash of water. Started with the Fried trio and the mozzarella was the best part. Excellent marinara. The veal Amici was tender and flavorful with the pappardelle perfectly cooked. Husband had the fruitti de mar made "dumbed down" (less spicy) was nice. What topped the whole experience was John, our server. It was his first night working at Amici's but clearly not his first night making guest experiences special. The perfect blend of attentiveness and charm. As a fellow patron of the restaurant, each of his recommendations were on point.

The atmosphere has real charm--checked tablecloths and an old-school vibe that feels cozy and inviting. My server Abby, was fantastic! She was friendly, funny, and clearly knew the menu well. Her recommendation to start with the fresh bread was spot-on! Hot from the oven and melt-in-your-mouth good. I tried the "Godfather Fashion" from the drink menu. A little sweet for my taste, but a creative twist on the classic that many will enjoy. Dinner was the Chicken Amici's: breaded chicken with provolone and mushrooms in a sweet Marsala sauce over pappardelle pasta. Rich, flavorful, and very filling. I also upgraded to a Caesar salad--worth every penny. Amici's delivered great food, great service, and a memorable experience. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.

They sat our party of 10 in the furthest single room. It was like we were in trouble and sent to exile island! All other customers were two sections away from us! Service was great and is not an issue. My stars dropped because of the down grade in menu options and overall food quality. They were also out of seafood (not shrimp) broccoli and asparagus. There was no specials menu this time excepts for one side of Brussels. The food I had was just ok. The croutons on the Caesar were solid rocks. No one should be using boxed croutons anymore. They should cut up and toast the bread they make and serve when you're seated as their croutons. Those would be amazing! My arancini's were fine. The sauce with them is still good. That's why I'm updating to A-OK from 5-stars.

I try to ignore reviews and try places at least once to form my own opinions and since I haven't been in that long of a time, I decided to swing by. I got chicken Alfredo because I was craving it (sure, sue me). It was fine. Tasted like...chicken Alfredo. I've actually never been to Olive garden in my life but I wouldn't be surprised if it tastes similar. It came with a side salad--upcharges for certain dressings like caesar dressing. I just grabbed a simple vinaigrette. Salad was something you could toss together at home in 2 seconds. Chopped greens, cherry tomatoes, and drowned in sauce. I didn't really complain since I'm usually heavy on the dressing anyway. Bread came out first and it was a bit sad. Heavily buttered and a bit soggy. The oil/garlic dip was pretty standard, on the garlicky side. Maybe it's my preference, but would've liked it to be a bit crispier. I ordered a Manhattan which was fine but it took like 10 mins to come out. I had some time to kill so it didn't bother me too much, but I expected it to at least come out at the same time as the salad. Wasn't sure if the bar was slammed or not, but it was a pretty cozy weeknight so it didn't seem all too busy. Vibe inside was cute and dark. Felt cozy. Service was just okay--the server was very friendly and nice but the food and drink took a while to hit the table. Overall, probably a 5/10~. I don't remember Gennaros from 2011 when I last ate there but I still think it's quite cute inside, but wasn't impressed by the meal overall. That might've been on me, ordering Alfredo that I could just make at home. Sometimes you do be cravin Alfredo tho so don't judge me.

That's a high compliment from me since I can be snobby about pasta, being from New York City and all. The restaurant itself is a gorgeous, large house and has lots of outdoor seating as well. Despite the location and going on a Friday evening I found parking with no effort across the street at the bank. These are all great things! I had a fettuccine special was blew my mind (only 2 or 3 shrimp and 2 scallops was VERY skimpy for $45 though), the garlic bread is almost exactly how I make it at home, the salad had a nice, bright taste, and the crème brûlée was exquisite. Where we went from five stars to four... mostly with front of house stuff. I called ahead to see if I should join the waitlist and I was told that it would be a good idea. I asked to join the waitlist and I was told to just do it online. I explained that I was driving but I was told to do it online. Tried doing it online at a red light, the system said that it couldn't. I called back in and asked again to be put on the waitlist since it was down and was told that wasn't possible. When I got there though there was no need for a waitlist, I was immediately seated even though I said I was waiting to meet someone. 9 minutes later the hostess came to my table to follow up and I felt very pressured, even though I tried to tell her when I was seated that my date wasn't there yet! Once I decided that I had been stood up, it was hard to get a hold of my server who was super busy. They couldn't add any more servers in here, it's just too jam packed as it is. Once my order was taken my meal was on track. Unfortunately when my food arrived, it wasn't brought by my server it was brought by a helper, who didn't offer any extra cheese. By the time my server came around to offer me cheese I was significantly through my meal. This is a basic fumble, that is solved by giving cheese graters to the folks bringing out the food, a common expectation at an Italian restaurant. Meanwhile I am spending my entire meal seated next to a family with two extremely young children, and everyone was acting like they were at Grandma's for Thanksgiving. One daughter (young enough to have a pacifier) was tossed onto the bench seating while dad started playing drums on her belly and wailing about how special she is, the other daughter was flinging herself at the bench and using it as a jungle gym. They were NOT the only family in here having like this either, there were multiple children running around and squealing like they were playing hide and seek. As a parent of three I am sympathetic but if you can afford to eat here you can afford a babysitter. And while the restaurant isn't responsible for how people behave I do expect them to have that uncomfortable conversation with people rather than expecting the rest of the customers to grin and bear it. Overall... I didn't let these things ruin my night or my meal, but they definitely take a star off. J.Ja

My husband found this spot last minute since it was just a short walk from our hotel. We arrived pretty close to the kitchen closing, and while they mentioned we could still order at the bar, our server, Miseal, graciously offered to seat us at a table and take care of us anyway. That level of hospitality set the tone for the entire evening. We kept it simple and shared the Octopus Salad and the Taleggio Pizza, and wow...every single bite was packed with flavor. The pizza, cooked in the wood-fired brick oven, had the perfect crispy yet chewy crust with rich, melty cheese. The octopus was tender, fresh, and beautifully balanced. It was honestly the best meal we had all weekend. I paired everything with a refreshing brut rose while my husband enjoyed a beer, and it couldn't have been a better way to end our Charleston trip. The atmosphere is stylish and lounge-like with a romantic feel...perfect for a date night or a relaxed evening after exploring the city. A huge thank you to Miseal for making us feel so welcome, even at the end of the night. Great food, outstanding service, and an unforgettable experience. This will absolutely be one of our first stops the next time we're in Charleston.

Our server was really personable and gave recommendations after asking (she said the meatballs were her fav in Charleston and she might be right).
