Gayle and I had just finished Day 2 of our Camino Ingles Walk. It was a Sunday, with a short downpour greeting our arrival in Pontedeume. Our accommodation for the evening was the most pleasant Hotel Montebreamo, which was a significant hike up the hill. So after wandering around the downtown a little and after getting led around by Google Maps, we arrived around opening (maybe 1:30 PM) at Pulpería Os Cen Pasos.
As we were in Galicia during the entire Camino, seafood was almost always on the menu. In the case of Pulpería Os Cen Pasos, I'm sorry that I was so busy enjoying the baby squid and octopus, that I only managed to take a picture of the restaurant sign as we left. At the end of a Camino day, the first beers, sometimes bread or patatas bravas, are consumed quickly by hungry Pilgrims (us). After that, we settled down to the main seafood courses, and had a marvelous time together chatting about our day (and the next one) and enjoying some really excellent local dishes over bottle of wine. Gayle also appreciated that she was able to purchase an extra Albarino for the room.
As we lingered over our meal, the place slowly filled up with mostly couples, and families. That's part of the Camino experience that we most enjoyed, being off-tourist grid, and relatively anonymous. read more
