Gayle and I had finished Day 1 of the Camino Ingles at around 12:30. As our Hotel (Pensión Residencia Maragoto) had a 3 PM check in time, it made sense to find a place for Lunch. All during our time in Spain last month, we had breakfast and then the "late" Spanish Lunch in the afternoon. Our evening "meal" then consisted mostly of snacks and our favorite adult beverage. A fellow Pilgrim recommended 7 Santiños, which involved a walk to the other side of the river, towards the Church, and then a right turn up the Hill (aka DP-5404).
We arrived at around 1 PM and were told that the restaurant didn't open until 1:30. However, they let us sit in the main bar area, and even served us a nice appetizer with our wine and beer. When the time came, we moved into the dining area and enjoyed a marvelous seafood medley and delicious croquettes. This is Galicia after all and we'd both dine here again in a heartbeat. Both bar and restaurant staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and appreciative our our attempt to do all this in our broken Spanish. This establishment is small, and were were fortunate and grateful to share a table here. read more
