Vegetarian quiche with side salad
Loretta H.

I do love me a puffin. Our visit to the Cliffs did not give us any sightings of puffins but there are pictures inside the visitor's center of puffins during the spring/summer months. A spectacular sighting. I will warn you that during the fall you can have the weather change in a minute. When our bus arrived we were warned that we had maybe 20 minutes before the rain in the distance would arrive. Our guide was correct. We wandered around, got pictures, got wind swept and retreated to the Cafe for some food and a visit with the prerequisite gift shop. The cafe is on the first floor with a long line wrapped around the area. The staff are on top of the crowds retreiving bowls of stews, passing out premade quiches and more moving people along to the cashier. Once out of the food selection area, finding a table is your next task. While there were many tables, most had not been bused leaving a lot of tables unusable. We found a small corner to sit and watch the rain coming down in buckets. We did time that well. SO had the lamb stew which looked better than the quiche I had. Obviously, both were good, but it's had to make snap decisions after quickly viewing what's available. Quiche did come was a small side salad. It was a nice lunch. I have read that picnic baskets are available for purchase. Our weather did not permit any kind of picnic opportunity. If weather permits, I would certainly get a boxed picnic lunch and wander the paths of the cliffs.

Food was surprisingly good, but it might be the elevation or biting cold outside. Worth every penny, there's even hot chocolate and a cappuccino machine!

Not nearly as fancy as the Cliffs View Cafe on the second level, but after lunch this cafe still has sandwiches and paninis while upstairs there's just coffee and muffins. The sandwiches are freshly made, and while they're a bit pricey, the chicken and stuffing sandwich I had was really tasty.

I ordered a hot chocolate & tomato and goat cheese quiche. I liked both. My total was around €10. The service was very nice

Good food and service. The selection was tailored for those that want a quick, but good meal. Great selection of to-go items as well.

Cliffs View Cafe - Seafood Chowder - Terrific!

After seeing the Cliffs, we had plenty of time for lunch, so headed to the visitors center. When we walked in, we noticed the little sandwich place on the first floor, but decided there were more options upstairs at Cliffs View. I think it was the right choice. My wife ordered some soup and a salad, and I ordered a Toasted Special, which was ham & cheese. We both thought the food was pretty good, and even though the place was very crowded, we moved through the line pretty quickly. The biggest challenge here was finding a table. And if you do find one over by the windows where the ceiling slopes, watch your head!

Beautifully blending with the astounding countryside. Housed within on the second floor of the Visitor Information Center. Don't mistake the smaller Snack Bar on the first level with the Cafe. Cafeteria style with tray in hand you have to decide on the most tempting home style food. Seafood chowder, Irish Stew, Irish Ground Beef & Gravy, pasta, salad, etc. All very, welcoming, warming, and replenishing after the Cliff Trail, Stairs Up & Down, and Frrrrrresh Sea Air. After gobbling my stew I felted like a big old dog curled up by the fireside.

We found Brian Hackett hard at work in his jewelry studio, which I think has taken over the Crafts Gallery space. In any case, we were impressed by Brian's work but were not in the market for jewelry, so we moved along. In the other wing of the building, we were astounded to find the most AMAZING little bakery - to think we almost drove right by this place and didn't even know it existed. Fabiola, Brian's partner, has brought a little piece of France to this quiet corner of Ireland! Her delicate pastries and exquisite desserts reflect professional training and an artistic eye. They taste every bit as good as they look, too... I am still dreaming about the raspberry tart. Oh, la la. Fabiola herself is a welcoming host and will make you feel right at home as you enjoy her sun-bathed cafe, which overlooks the patio garden and fields beyond. A magical place, with cheerful touches of color and character in every inch of the decor...the perfect spot to sit and stay a while as you savor a mouth-watering pastry or scone and linger over a cup of dark, true coffee. Not to be missed if you are passing through Doolin. If the signs for the Doolin Crafts Gallery lead you astray, here is my best attempt at directions: take R479 northeast out of Doolin. About 1.0km out of town, you will see a large white church on a right-hand corner. Take a right on the lane just before it (L1036, I believe). The cafe and jewelry gallery will just a few hundred meters up on your right.
