Best breakfast in Ennis! Loved this place for a cheap, generous, relaxing start to the day. It's pretty much the only decent place open in Ennis on a Sunday. From the outside it doesn't look like much, even when you walk in. Then you go upstairs and realize that the first floor is pretty quaint, and the second floor is a massive machine! There is so much seating space, bring the whole family! The menu for breakfast celebrates what the Irish do best for the first meal of the day: eggs and smoked salmon. The offerings include a full Irish, mini Irish, poached eggs, scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and a veggie option. There is also a nice selection of pastries, including some lovely scones. We tried a scone with butter and jam (delicious), as well as a full Irish that we split between the two of us. My only complaint is that the fried egg was slightly overcooked, but the rest of it was EXCELLENT value for money. For only €8.50 we received an entire plate of food, including some of the most tasty black and white pudding (uh...don't look up what this is if you don't know, just try it first) I've had in some time. Our waitress was friendly and service was prompt. Highly recommend this place, especially since it's open on a Sunday - when the rest of the town is mostly closed.

Full Irish Breakfast and Vegetarian Breakfast, side by side.
Notice the eggs and grilled tomato--off-the-chart delicious.

Great coffee, great breakfast, what more can you ask for? Seriously, it's rare to find a eatery that does BOTH extremely well. Recommend get the full Irish breakfast for the black and white pudding. Their poached egg and potatoes are good too. wifi is free, password is cafearoma123

Looking for a great breakfast place in Ennis, look no further. And they serve breakfast all day. This place will satisfy all in your party. They have the scones and pastries, plus a full irish breakfast and mini breakfast, plus omelettes, and plain scrambled eggs and toast. They also have pancakes (I wasn't sure how those looked, but sounded good). The hot breakfasts come with tea or coffee for an affordable price. I really enjoyed the mini-breakfast which wasn't small, but came with everything to fill me up (fried egg, bacon, sausages, boiled potatoes, hash brown, and of course beans). They offer you brown or white toast as well as choice of tea or coffee, and it hit the spot and kept me full through after lunch. The place seemed fairly crowded with many locals enjoying their coffees, lattes and teas. The staff were welcoming and attentive (even to non-local visitors like myself). If in the Ennis area, I definitely would eat here again.

I have always been a fan of this place. They have a great menu and the food is brilliant. They are located right in the middle of town and have a very original layout which includes three floors of seating. The main draw for me though, is the all day breakfast. They have the best breakfast in town. Their full Irish has everything it is supposed to and is perfect. It also is only like eight euro, making it very reasonable as well. You can't beat a good full Irish and you won't find one better around sure.

My husband and I stumbled upon Cafe Aroma on accident, but I'm glad we did. We had breakfast there (we both had the Mini Irish) and it was really great. I'm a little sad we didn't venture upstairs to get a feel for the whole place - we ate on the ground floor - but it was great anyway. Food was hot and delicious, and the service was good. Would definitely recommend!

Who would have thought one of our favorite meals while visiting Ireland would be an Italian spot…read moretucked away in little ole downtown Ennis!? We were staying in nearby Dromoland and were after dinner that wasn't our hotel restaurant, so we wandered into downtown Ennis and then into Passatempo. When you think cute and quaint, you picture a place like Passatempo. They have only seven tables inside and when the weather is good, they have a few out front. We grabbed a table inside and were greeted by the owner who got us started on our meal. The owner and his family, authentic Italians who are clearly passionate about the food and drink, were delightful to interact with all night! Now the food...fresh made everything! So be patient, I promise it's worth it. We started with the crostini, which was a plate of 8 crositini's topped with a variety of fresh veggies, meats and sauces. My favorite was the red wine reduced onions and cheese crostini! For our mains, we got the lasagna and the spicy sausage pasta. The pasta is clearly made in house and with love, as do the sauces. The dishes were absolute perfection and delicious! And one surprising thing was the portion sizes, which were larger than expected, and we were good with it! While we did not partake, they did have a limited menu of Italian cocktails, wine and beer. And of course, several desserts including tiramisu. Overall, Passatempo was an absolute highlight of our trip and put Ennis on the map for us - Highly recommend!
