Came here based off of the reviews and I was not disappointed. My husband got the daily roast special, I got the chicken curry, and my son got the pasta carbonara. This never happens but each meal was FANTASTIC. The service was so amazing. The owner came over and started chatting with us and gifted us a cheesecake and a hot brownie with ice cream. If you are in Ennis even for a small amount of time you MUST come here. We came for lunch but I was so impressed we will come back for breakfast tomorrow. read more

The avocado toast is absolutely abismal do not order it! My avocado was discolored and looked as if it had been mashed that morning of the day prior as to being fresh. The coffee is always lovely and their chicken goujon sandwich is always solid the avocado toast was a massive let down the I suppose that's to be expected with Irish restaurants. read more

Best breakfast in Ennis! Loved this place for a cheap, generous, relaxing start to the day. It's pretty much the only decent place open in Ennis on a Sunday. From the outside it doesn't look like much, even when you walk in. Then you go upstairs and realize that the first floor is pretty quaint, and the second floor is a massive machine! There is so much seating space, bring the whole family! The menu for breakfast celebrates what the Irish do best for the first meal of the day: eggs and smoked salmon. The offerings include a full Irish, mini Irish, poached eggs, scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and a veggie option. There is also a nice selection of pastries, including some lovely scones. We tried a scone with butter and jam (delicious), as well as a full Irish that we split between the two of us. My only complaint is that the fried egg was slightly overcooked, but the rest of it was EXCELLENT value for money. For only €8.50 we received an entire plate of food, including some of the most tasty black and white pudding (uh...don't look up what this is if you don't know, just try it first) I've had in some time. Our waitress was friendly and service was prompt. Highly recommend this place, especially since it's open on a Sunday - when the rest of the town is mostly closed. read more

Looking for a great breakfast place in Ennis, look no further. And they serve breakfast all day. This place will satisfy all in your party. They have the scones and pastries, plus a full irish breakfast and mini breakfast, plus omelettes, and plain scrambled eggs and toast. They also have pancakes (I wasn't sure how those looked, but sounded good). The hot breakfasts come with tea or coffee for an affordable price. I really enjoyed the mini-breakfast which wasn't small, but came with everything to fill me up (fried egg, bacon, sausages, boiled potatoes, hash brown, and of course beans). They offer you brown or white toast as well as choice of tea or coffee, and it hit the spot and kept me full through after lunch. The place seemed fairly crowded with many locals enjoying their coffees, lattes and teas. The staff were welcoming and attentive (even to non-local visitors like myself). I have always been a fan of this place. They have a great menu and the food is brilliant. They are located right in the middle of town and have a very original layout which includes three floors of seating. The main draw for me though, is the all day breakfast. They have the best breakfast in town. Their full Irish has everything it is supposed to and is perfect. It also is only like eight euro, making it very reasonable as well. You can't beat a good full Irish and you won't find one better around sure. read more

Am I right to believe that an Irish Breakfast is the original breakfast-for-dinner (and breakfast-for-lunch, for that matter)? This makes sense because an Irish Breakfast is gorgeously satisfying at any time of the day. My English colleague, Lucy, and I were on a day trip adventure to the coast when we stumbled upon Cafe Aroma, in the center of town, and ordered two mini-Irishes with tea, for lunch. We had each had a beautiful plate piled with roasted tomatoes and baby potatoes, baked beans, bacon, sausage and an perfectly fried egg with loads of toasted brown bread. And because breakfast comes with tea or coffee, we had two medium pots of Barry's--the liquid gold of Emerald Isle. This was the mini breakfast, guys. One could choose the veg version to make it lighter or just get mental and order the full-on regular Irish. To be sure, there were plenty of sandwich and salad options as well as daily specials including a roast and a pasta but honestly why eat anything else but a breakfast, when it's offered all day, especially if one is terrifically hungover as we were? Our server was charming and quick and our food and drink, delicious. Cafe Aroma inhabits three floors; we sat on the second which had an intimate six tables and comfy, soft chairs. Our fellow diners were school girls, a couple of folks having a business lunch and a solitary lady of a certain age who ordered the roast special (roast for lunch! impressive right?!) and demolished it (#goals one day). It was hard to leave the warmth of Cafe Aroma as we did but we had an ocean trail hike to get to and as you might imagine, quite a lot of calories to burn. ps: For travelers without EU data plans, rejoice! I hate to give bad reviews but I had a negative experience with staff and management in Cafe Aroma. I wasn't going to say anything because I had applied for a job here just a few days ago, but then I thought, why would I want to work somewhere where they don't value paying customers? Today I asked for a coffee and was told by staff to go upstairs if I wanted to sit down because "students are not allowed to sit downstairs". As a student wearing a uniform you get used to being treated like dog shite at restaurants so I just accepted this and went up the three flights of stairs to order my coffee. After I ordered I was asked "are your friends getting anything?" by the manager and told I was not allowed sit down unless all of my friends also bought something. I was with only two friends who were quiet and well mannered. Can you imagine a manager saying this to a group of adults? It simply wouldn't happen and if it did, they would be outraged. Secondary school students are people too, and some of us are over 18 and have jobs and drive cars just like you do. Please stop discriminating against us. read more

Definitely the most welcoming, warm, and atmospheric of Ennis' cafes. I think one of the most striking things I noticed upon entering was the decor, particularly as one moves up the stairs to the top floor. This is one of the few (or only?) cafes in town featuring local artist's works, and the layout and colors used throughout the cafe combined with the artwork make it interesting and unique. The food is wonderful, particularly the Irish breakfast. The staff are always kind and efficient, and it's my favorite go-to spot when I'm meeting friends for a coffee or looking for a bite to eat. read more
