The ambiance of the Buttery Kitchen is great, very nice and modern. I ordered a coffee to go and asked if they had any pastries that I could order to go as well, but the only option was a cinnamon roll, which you can get heated up, if you like. The coffee and cinnamon roll were nice, but I wouldn't be rushing back because of the price of the food there, I found it to be very expensive for what you get, especially when I could go elsewhere for the same thing but for half the price. So, we were looking for brunch on a Friday morning in Mid- July. I stumbled on The Buttery Kitchen on Yelp. We decided to try it as we didn't know where to go except the Dock Bar; we knew that would be packed out with tourists! We went in and we're seated immediately. We did have a bit of a wait for a server to come to us ( a party of 6). Once orders were taken for hot bevs & food; we were off for a great experience. EVERYTHING was wonderful. This is a really aesthetically cute brunch spot that was worth a stop. They have a pretty big menu, and their desserts were amazing. Unfortunately I came late in the day so couldn't try any of their main food type dishes, but did have a latte and and cinnamon roll at the rec of the waitress. The latte was good, but the cinnamon roll was for lack of a better word underwhelming. Really dry, not so much cinnamon, and mostly frosting. Amazing! We are staying in limerick for a couple days and while there's not much here we wanted to do, I'm so glad we found this restaurant! This has been one of the best breakfasts we've had in Ireland! I got the eggs Royale, my husband had The Full, and both of us completely cleaned our plates. The portions are great, The food was delicious, the decor is really nice and was walking distance from our hotel (about 15 mins). Service is good, people are friendly. Ok this is THE place for breakfast. I'd come here any time of the day, the lunch/dinner menus have plenty of delicious dishes to offer but I love it best for breakfast. On my last visit I ordered Eggs Royale. The eggs were perfection. The hollandaise was rich but not too rich. They didn't skip on the salmon either. My one tiny issue is that it was served on half a bagel. I'd rather pay more for a full bagel. The staff were courteous, seated me quickly, checked on me to see how I was enjoying my meal and service was prompt. I would totally recommend this place to everyone - especially for breakfast. I'm knocking off a star for that half bagel and I've thought some of the lunch options are expensive (but good portion sizes). read more

I really like this restaurant, I've been there many times and have yet to be let down by the friendly staff and great service and of course the excellent food! It's a great place to start your day with their healthy breakfast menu. They have a lot of variety, to name a few; the veggie breakfast, avocado and egg, poached egg, pancakes and French toast with organic Canadian maple, the full Irish breakfast and much more! The veggie breakfast is great; two fried eggs, hash brown, beans, cherry tomatoes, long strips of toast (really great bread) and this amazing tasting hummus with poppy seed mixed in. I feel it's a well cared for breakfast as you don't find great vegetarian breakfast options in limerick. The avo and egg breakfast is delicious too, toast with avocado and a sort of sweet chilli mixed in topped with egg and some healthy greens! If you have a sweet tooth, I recommend the French toast served with maple syrup. Although for what you pay for it's not a whole lot! Going there for lunch isn't the best option for vegetarians, they don't have much to offer but I would highly recommend the Hallumi wrap! Served with tasty fries and the wrap is mixed with a chargrilled veg cous cous and hallumi. For meat eaters there are many things to choose from and I'm sure it will satisfy you! A group of 7 of us ate here on a Thursday night for dinner (around 8pm), and even though I'm sure we looked like obnoxious American students, the host and waitresses were amazing to us! They made sure we always had water, and were very helpful in deciding what to order. We had the 5 spice calamari as appetizers, which were a little strange tasting, but not bad. As my entree I got the buttermilk chicken appetizer, which was very good! A few others got the burger, which looked amazing, and I was told the onion rings on it were awesome too. My friends also said the ribs (which had a teriyaki or soy sauce, very interesting) and nachos were great too! Add to all of that the incredibly cute decor and atmosphere, and It was definitely an awesome meal! I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the city! read more

My wife and I just moved home to Ireland and this was her experience recently: Catching up with friends I called The Buttery for the first time. Because the website was under construction I made what was intended to be a quick call to find out if there were and meals with two or three courses for a special price. I was met with a very impatient dismissive man who told me he 'didn't understand what I was asking for' asked me to send him an email - and drag out a very simple request in my opinion and very quickly hung up the phone. So we visited the castle - from what I absorbed from the displayed inside you could write a small pamphlet. Anyway, upon our return The Buttery was open, and we were rescued from hunger. Our wonderful waitress (sweet polish girl, I never learned her name) made eggs on avocado, toast, coffee, and French toast appear very quickly, and we were well satisfied. We went there twice while in Limerick! Lovely. I wish I went here for food and drink rather than the hotel. Whiskey Sour! The best I have ever had. I'll be back!!
