This restaurant opened last summer, and it is a real gem in an area that has few really good restaurants. Tipperary town doesn't really get much tourist traffic, mostly people passing through to Cashel or Cahir. It is certainly worth stopping for a meal in Prime 74. I stay in this area every year when I come from NYC, and last week my sister in law from Dublin joined me for dinner here. We started with bruschetta and a smoked salmon appetizer. She ordered the rack of lamb, and I had chicken over risotto. Both the starters and main courses were delicious and beautifully presented. The meat and vegetables served here are locally produced, and taste very fresh. We had a glass of good house red wine each.
Prices are reasonable for food of this quality. Park in the "bank place" parking lot close by, and enjoy a great meal with service to match. The only snag is the opening hours - they only serve dinner from Thursday to Sunday but are, I believe, open for lunch on other days. Perhaps it would be safer to phone first, both for the hours and also because it is a small place and seems to fill up fast. read more
