We had a very good lunch here. I'm surprised to say. We were in the area and saw it on yelp. You wouldn't know there is anything down this street east of US1/Federal Highway. There's a small strip on the north side of the street with a few businesses. The restaurant is next to the marine fish store. There were a few spaces out front and we lucked out getting one of them. This place is a no frills luncheonette/diner kind of place. I mean no ambiance whatsoever. It would fit perfectly in New York City tucked into a side street. It's tiny. A counter and some tables with maybe 20 seats total (including the 6 stools at the counter). We self seated and I grabbed a menu off the counter as I was entering. Two people eating at a table by the door told us everything was good here. I asked what they'd had -- a grilled cheese with tomato and bacon and the daily special of lasagna. Seems they have a hot lunch special every day that changes depending on the day of the week. We first sat at a table, but after I spilled my Diet Coke, we moved to the counter. There was only one other couple still eating in. I'd gone up to the counter to place our order with the cook. Later on, we saw another person -- a gal who delivered our drinks. She also helped prep their takeout orders. The phone was quite busy while we were there. My husband got a BLT on white toast. It had a lot of bacon on it and a generous amount of lettuce. He said it was quite good. I got their patty melt without the onions. It came on goy style rye bread with a side of French fries. The burger was perfectly cooked and appropriately greasy but tasty as a patty melt usually is. Prices were pretty reasonable. And the food, although not gourmet, is way above average. You'll find most of your favorite diner options on the menu. It's a perfect place for simple, but satisfying lunch -- especially if the food is more important than any frou frou. read more

The theme " Super" from Sunday and that little Bowl game in Houston,Texas continues for me to " Marvelous Monday"!!!! I just experienced a Super, Amazing, Delicious and Huge breakfast & Super service and love at Pudgie's Cafe. A million thanks to my dear Yelp friend Stephen S who is a regular here and wrote an awesome review of this great gem tucked away just east of Federal Highway in a row of shops between a Marine life store and a window/blinds business on NE 16th Street. Perfect scenario as I had to bring my vehicle in for service to the dealer on W Sample Rd about a 9 minutes drive from Pudgie's. This is a very unassuming, quiet spot with parking spots in the front and maybe 6 counter seats and 4 small tables. I received a warm greeting from Manny, the owner/chef and the very sweet waitress Debbie. I sat at the counter and ordered a 3 egg omelete with vegetables, wheat toast and a side of bacon. It was an absolute treat to see Manny prepare and flip the omelette. Maybe " Super " size was the operative word as I was served this beautiful, sculpted, 12" by 4" masterpiece with spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes and onions that were cooked and sautéed just perfectly. It was hot, it was delicious, it was just right!!! The bacon was crisp and lovely!! The toast was hot and great with just the proper amount of butter on it!! Coffee was self serve. There was a lovely and relaxed vibe at Pudgie's as the regulars came in around 845-900 am and the phone for take out and delivery kept ringing. Loved it!!! I loved and devoured my eggs de resistance!! Absolutely loved the great service from Debbie. A regular seated next to meet the counter ordered the Eggs Benedict and they looked absolutely divine. I was in and out in 22 minutes( yes I am a fast eater who does forget sometimes to chew every bite 33 times) and this had to be one of the best breakfasts I have had in a long, long time. Eleven bucks for a SUPER three egg omelette, toast, side of bacon( 3 large strips) and bottomless coffee is a bargain!!!! There is nothing quiet about how I felt and am feeling right now!! I just want to yell out" I love Pudgie's Cafe!". Loved Pudgie's, loved my breakfast and loved Manny and his wonderful staff. How can I possibly top this at lunchtime???? read more

Okay, so my wife and I visited Pudgie Cafe for breakfast based solely on Yelp ratings. Not much to look at but then again neither is Nelson's Diner and we LOVE that place. We weren't greeted immediately and didn't know if they had table service or not. Finally someone said to sit and gave us a menu from the counter. After 5 minutes, the owner left the grill and came out to take our order. He told us coffee was self serve which we already knew from Yelp. My wife drinks decafe for her health and there was none. The woman behind the counter(the owners wife?) said she would make a pot. She then went on making a meal and taking a phone call. After 15 minutes we reminded her and she grudgingly came out and made a pot. The food came out and was good, nothing special but good. I heard from workers in my building that they make a really good sandwich. I wouldn't have rated this as a top 5 eating spot in Pompano Beach but I wish them well. read more

A local tucked away neighborhood joint that serves up good home style food.. Breakfast is always good and they have daily fresh cooked specials for lunch.. Small place with 8 stools along the counter and 6 tables.. I had my usual at this establishment the Ham & Cheddar Cheese omelet with red potatoes and rye toast. The beverages are self-service so don't feel like your imposing going behind the counter to get your own soft drinks from the machine. The situation is the same for the coffee. Self-service. Don't be shy. Manny the cook is a character right out of a Saturday night live restaurant skit. He always has something to say and he takes his time cooking your food. You get it when you get it. It's a cute little hole in the wall spot. They only had 2 staff working, but they kept making sure customers were getting taken care of. So, it took a little longer than a bigger establishment but we were ok with that! The breakfast menu was the perfect diner fare and had an endless coffee bar. read more

This place is barely worth the review. Service was awful practically had menus thrown at us. Place feels and looks dirty. The food was awful worst Cuban I've ever had period. Even a basic dish like pancakes and bacon was awful the bacon was disgustingly grease and some how distasteful. Everything from bread, to meat to anything felt gross and unclean. Do not eat here. Where do I start. If you can't be bothered to greet your customers when they walk in, what you're really saying is you don't care if they are there or not. Second, let me just figure out I need to seat myself. And I say this because EVERY available table was DIRTY. Great little hidden gem of Pompano Beach. Diner-esque spot for breakfast and lunch. My go to spot for a breakfast sandwich regardless of time of day. They refer to it as a Pudgie Muffin (choice of meat: bacon, sausage, or ham, egg, and cheese). I usually call my order in for pick-up and give them atleast 15 minutes before I show up, they can be busy and only have 1 chef. Breakfast served anytime of day. Not open on Sunday's.
