I've ordered several birthday cakes from Publix Bakery, and they never disappoint. This time I got a vanilla cake with raspberry filling and buttercream icing--hands down one of the best cakes I've had. The flavor was perfect, moist, and not overly sweet. They followed the inspiration photo I provided exactly--the design and colors were on point. Customer service was excellent, and the pricing is very reasonable compared to specialty bakeries. Their cupcakes are great too, but if you need a birthday cake, Publix is definitely the place to go. Creative, consistent, and reliable. 10/10 highly recommend! read more

Ordered my pubsub at 10.48. Got here at pickup time 11.15 didn't get my sandwich til 11.45. It was so poorly wrapped it fell out the package an onto the floor. At least jan tried. I guess. I dont fucking know. If anyone orders sandwiches for lunch in nearby offices avoid this place like the plague. Staff is slow. Sour attitude. And they shit talked several people who had the same issue i did when they gave up and walked away. Didnt even have the courtesy to be professional an not speak ill of paying guests. This location is a bit rundown and not in the best part of the city. The inside is fine, their outside and parking lot are the problem. Every time I come I see some random people hanging around by the entrance and in the parking lot. I don't like to pass judgement but I just felt they were not there as regular shoppers. Going to a grocery store can be pretty mundane but every once in a while, something special happens. I went to a Publix grocery store today and it was about 15 miles from our house. I've been trying to find a store that carries Kaukauna cheese spread. Its not fancy cheese but if you're having company, almost everyone loves it. I met one of the store manager's, Fritz, and inquired if he carried that product. Not only did they have it in the store but he was nice enough to take me to where it is stocked. I'm glad that he did because it is still hard to find that product/container even when you have the aisle and general location. If you are looking for a new grocery store to try, visit the Publix at 8120 S Tryon in Charlotte. If you're having trouble finding a product at that location, ask for Fritz. If they don't carry something, he'll know it but if they do, he'll make sure that you find it! My kinda store.... read more

We had a very large catering order with the bakery and deli department and I was very unsatisfied with how the deli handled our order. There was confusion on a chicken tender box/platter and instead of trying to find a solution together, I got hung up on by an associate. Being understandably upset, I called back spoke to Mike the manager whom right away tried to rectify my issue and the associate called back to apologize. Within her apology though, she made it seem as if she didn't hang up, when in all reality, she did and was trying to save face. When Mike did the follow up call, he let me know that what I actually needed for my order is cheaper than what I was originally quoted so I had the assumption that it would be cheaper. So when I went to pick up the order, the price wasn't. So that's disappointing. The only thing that saved this from being a 1 star review was the bakery being so nice, the 2 cake/cupcake combo looked great, and Mike's efforts to fix the problem. I also want to mention, on the sandwich platters, none of the sandwiches had cheese on it. I have both catering receipt orders and it clearly says provolone on the original one, but not on the one that was written up when I picked up the order. Will not do catering again with this store and much rather drive further to a different location. Do better Deli department. I shouldn't feel like I'm inconveniencing you to do your job when I placed an over $500 order. And there wasn't any mustard or mayo packs. Just all around a bad experience with them. read more

[UPDATE: The Yelp Hamsters have struck again, merging the Publix Supermarket with the Publix Pharmacy even though they had different URLs and different phone numbers.] We made the decision to switch from the Harris Teeter Pharmacy that we have been using for the last 7 or so years because this one in Whitehall is just so much more convenient. Four miles doesn't seem like a lot but when the afternoon traffic is going, it can take a half hour to get from here to Steele Creek. The staff here are professional, competent and accurate. I've now had a few prescriptions filled and got my flu shot here. Easy. There's no drive through, so that's a minus. But they have decent hours and the store is definitely easier for us. This public have always been my go to on my way home. Yesterday I wanted to get a salmon. Stopped by the seafood butcher to some. A lady name Elaine and a guy named Tai were staying right there. I asked Elaine if I can get 1lbs of a salmon I prefer. She grab one. Then another one. It ended up being 1.32 lbs. never did she ask me if I wanted more than a pound or even 2 pieces at that. Then I asked if they can filet it for me. Since she just gave me a slab. Tai tried to explain why they can't. And she just out right said no.. Now I have asked the butcher at Publix to scale a fish, cut a ribeye thinly, and cut me some chicken thighs. I turned and asked Elaine what did you say, she said she was talking to Tai. I asked her what her name was. Many times she said she wasn't going to give me her name nor the name of her manager. Tai couldn't tell her to calm now. We continue to go back and forth. At some point, I was sooo upset that I said I'm about to pull a damn Karen. She said she will kick my ass. So I said some over the counter and see what happen. I tried to complain to the manager. Instead of getting the meat manager. I got the produce manager. He couldn't understand why she and Tai didn't wear a name tag. And if I wanted my salmon cut into filets. It shouldn't been a problem at all. Will file a complaint with corporate. read more

I needed to go to Publix for a few items and decided to pick up one of the family meals consisting of chicken tenders, potato wedges and onion rings. Waited 10 minutes for fresh onion rings. Upon getting home and checking the bags we got approximately 4 oz of onion rings no sauce and no bread of any sort. I am so not happy. So I've heard all the hype about Publix. Mostly from all the Floridians that have found their way to the Charlotte area. They have been holding their breath and waiting for what seems like a lifetime for The Big P to finally crack open Harris Teeter's market hold. Here they are and, well, meh. I'm not super impressed but not overly disappointed either. Lately I've been doing most of my grocery shopping at the fringe-y health food stores. Read: Whole Foods, Earth Fare, Fresh Market, Healthy Home Market (or whatever it's called). So on my occasional jaunts back into a Harris Teeter I've been less than impressed. My eye for quality and attention to detail has increased so much. I've come a long way from a small-town NC Food Lion shopper... had figured Publix to be better than Harris Teeter but found it to be ultimately about the same. There is at least one neat thing here that HT hasn't seemed to catch onto: meal recipes and prep sections. Basically where Publix plans a meal for you and puts everything you need for it right in one area. They give you the recipe and you can get in and get out with ease. Beyond that, prices and quality are similar to HT in my opinion. And either HT has come down in quality in recent years or I've just become too fancy pants. There's no Publix close to home for me so I won't be making any further trips out of my way to visit again. read more

I'm a big fan of Publix. This used to be my main grocery store until I moved. It's still close to me, but unfortunately, I can't justify coming here anymore since I can walk across the street to a Harris Teeter. I came here because I had styrofoam to recycle and Publix is the only place I can find that recycles it. While I was there I did my grocery shopping too. I like that they don't make you have a card to get their discounts. I find Publix to be cheaper and less pretentious than Harris Teeter. This location is clean and not crowded. The only thing I don't like is the shopping center its in. There's so much traffic and driver's are crazy. If you can go in and out the side entrance it's a lot better. This is definitely a good grocery store if you're in the area! read more

This is my primary grocery store. I am always shown customer service when shopping at Publix. One time they messed up a design on a birthday cake I ordered and I was compensated for the cake and given a gift card. The only other complaint I have is that went the seafood counter is closed there isn't fresh salmon on the floor. I was told I could request it but the one time I did that I was told there was nothing that could be done. I live the brand variety Publix offers and the clean, modern layout. If you live near S. I have never been so frustrated and humiliated like this. I always go to this store and never had any incident or whatsoever. I was shopping for instacart today and soon I arrived at the self checkout an associated came to me asking if I was doing instacart and I said yes . Shen then Told me to rush a little bite because one of the customers was waiting in the parking lot. I had 2 separates order . One to be pick up at the store and the 2nd one to be deliver as I was checking myself out at the self checkout. the 2nd minute she was taking the bags out of my cart . Even though I told her I had 2 separates batches she replied back saying that she knows the items..... And none of her supervisor said something about it I refrained telling her to give me time to sort out the items so that I don't make mistake putting items in the wrong Bag She kept on with what she was doing Saying that "we have to take care of our customers " She then said that she does instacart also that 'I took too long to shop' as if she knows at what time I got there ? What incident or what back and forth I had to do with the customers to satisfy their need.... Enough said Publix has a reputation to maintain and I believe that it goes from the associates, supervisors..... managers to attain that goal . I felt ashamed as If I was doing something wrong.... I don't know if I deserve this Publix, but I am grateful for it. Last week it was pouring down raining when I pulled in, so I bundled up my toddler and hustled in. Once I got to the lobby, I saw a Publix employee offer his coat to an elderly gentleman who was heading to his car in the parking lot. I told him "Wow, that's really kind of you!" and he said "Oh I'm just doing my job ma'am." Once in the store, my kid decided the candle I'd placed in the cart actually deserved to be on the floor. He threw it on the floor and then looked to me for approval. Of course it cracked in a million pieces and before I could even try to clean it up, an employee showed up with a broom and began cleaning. I said "I'm so sorry. I can help." He replied "No need to apologize. At least the candle smells good! He could have thrown something stinky." A few moments later, this same employee noticed me scanning the aisle and asked "Do you need help finding something ma'am?" I sheepishly admitted that I couldn't find the cornmeal. He immediately found it for me, carried it to my cart, and finishing cleaning up Vanilla-Gate. Once I got all my groceries, the cashier chattily scanned and bagged my items. Another person begin pushing my cart towards the parking lot. I said "Oh, I think I can handle it." She said "Are you sure? I can help you get everything into your car while you buckle your son in." And that's when I decided that Publix was the place for me. read more

You know, I used to think South Boulevard was my favorite location because it's new just like I was new but I have to give it to Steele Creek they have earned these five stars. I like Kevin at customer service there are two other ladies who are good when they work the counter because Kevin is now on the floor from time to time. But I appreciate the different times I've had problems, Charles, the customer service manager jumped right into action ...another manager addressed the limited availability of the Southern Cobb salad I know it sounds futile or sounds really asinine; however it is a salad worth trying and we've decided to have it part of our graduation celebration that's how good it is. I respect their BOGO sales because they don't mark up the prices just to mark them down and call it a cell. The digital coupons system you can utilize that coupon as many times per day but you can use it as many times as you like until the expiration date. That completely blew me away. As for Logistics, they have little buggies, large full-size buggies and actual handheld baskets. There is a deli that serves hot food. Lunch gets pretty busy. Try even ordering Subs online or standing in line and ordering them in the store. There is a sushi Department right next to Seafood. They seem to cater to the pet owners with their own specific coupons and clubs, we may have to join one day. Also, the customer service line is available to check out there's self checkout and the regular check out. read more

I love coming to Publix however today wasn't a good shopping trip. I walked in and immediately went to the deli area. There was only one person working and lots of people in the sub line and I was waiting for assistance in the deli meat line. Usually they have about three people working but this poor lady was sooo doing everything herself. Guest were beginning to become frustrated and she kept reassuring everyone that she would be right with them. I'm not sure if she was working on a online order or someone else's order. But I was the only person in the deli area and it lots of people in the sandwich line. Everyone in the sandwich line left and after about 15minutes or waiting she was finally finish and could assist me with my order. If I had one criticism about all Publix stores, it would be the beer selection and prices of the beer sold there. To me Harris Teeter trumps them in this category. My favorite place to shop is Publix. This is the second Publix that I have been to. Usually, up at the one in Huntersville. Look forward to another Publix opening up in Cornelius. In general, I shop at Publix like 3-4 times a week. They are so convenient for me that after hours I run and pick up milk and snacks. Their Publix brand of products are really good. The roasted chicken that comes in BBQ, Lemon Pepper, and Mojo. Always, someone to help out with recipes for fish and cooking meats. Prices are inexpensive and there is no need for a membership card. Always shop for their specials and weekly sales this is where you get the best bargains. read more

I LOVE THIS STORE. The folks who work there are so so so friendly. I'm talking about SWEET, genuine, old school associate friendliness. Associates will actually greet you with enthusiasm and big smiles on their face. It kind of takes you back a little bit because you're not used to seeing that anymore. It's actually delightful to go in there. It's a pleasant experience, which I love instead of just rushing around getting what I need. I also love that they carry so many cool and different brands that I've never heard of that other stores do not carry. You know when you're walking around the grocery store and can't figure out what to get and just need some inspiration? This store always does that for me. They have a lots of gluten-free, natural, and organic options. I've found a lot of snacks for my Little guy that I otherwise would never have heard of. They have more premade and frozen dinner entrées and appetizers than any other store I know of in the area. Unlike most grocery stores, instead of just having a seafood section with whitefish, salmon, crab, and shrimp, they have variations of fish and premade options and frozen options and lots and lots to choose from. Also a great floral section that rivals Trader Joe's and whole foods. This store is just leaps and bounds above Food Lion and Harris Teeter. It makes me never want to shop at those stores again. I really hope they keep up the great work that they're doing so I can shop there for years to come! If only they would sell alcohol to customers while you shop. 10/01/2018. Although I really like this location, My recent experience at this Publix location was extremely unpleasant with the deli. I found Publix employee Shelly to be very rude, unfriendly, not helpful and very unwelcoming. I said Hello, Shelly never responded. I asked if she had a certain boars head in stock , Shelly replied in a agitated manner: "I Might! But you have to wait awhile cause I have to cut it"! Not sure why Shelly felt the need to forewarn me of a long wait, but I waited. What I didn't like the most was Shellys total lack of training on behalf of Publix and the unprofessional demeanor she displayed. Her lack of customer service was also very inconsistent with Publix missions statement. After completing my sandwich Shelly plopped my sandwich down on-top of the high glass counter (when my hand was extended to receive the sandwich) and said: "Here you go" as she turned her back and walked away. What ever happen to have a good day", "come see us again" or simple "can I help you with anything else"? Being a registered nurse I definitely don't have the time consuming luxury to sit and write positive nor negative reviews, but my interaction with this particular Publix employee was so disturbing I had to use my valuable day off to write this. Coming from the northeast where most stores are full of workers trying to avoid eye contact, it was almost uncomfortable at first when every single employee in the store is so helpful! I cannot say enough about how much I appreciate the simplest "hello, are you finding everything okay?" even when the employee is busy stocking shelves or moving product. Also good to note that this location actually seems to have more of a selection of grass fed meats/dairy and Paleo-friendly products than the one in South End! read more

When this Publix first opened up I was a little hesitant to shop for groceries here because I had never heard of Publix grocery stores before but once I did, it's the only place I shop for my groceries now! Everything is always fresh and the entire store is always kept clean and organized (and we all can imagine how tough keeping a grocery store organized may be) but the Publix staff does an amazing job! While we're on the topic of staff, the customer service at the Steele Creek location is absolutely amazing. Everyone is kind, polite and extremely helpful. I have never walked out without a smile and I have never had an issue here. I just wanted to acknowledge the hard work from everyone as a team! Be prepared when you come to Publix. And I don't mean just having your reusable bags ready. Be prepared to be greeted cheerfully by pretty much every person working there. Be prepared for clean and brightly lit aisles and picture-perfect shelves and plump fresh produce. Be prepared for a clerk to come rushing to your aid when you really just wanted that one bulb of fennel, but three of them decide to come crashing down on you because foot-long fronds are ridiculous! Be prepared for a wonderfully full and varied inventory of healthful foods at really good prices. Be prepared to find plenty of affordable organic meats and cage-free eggs. Be prepared to find awesome things that you can't find at other stores! (Seriously, truly whole wheat English muffins and Amish cheese? Yum!!) Then be prepared for a fast and easy checkout experience, complete with a big easy-to-read screen as your items are being scanned in and your bill tallied. I do enjoy Publix a lot, the produce selection is great and very fresh, it always seems to last a while. There is always a large selection of different apples, fish, and eggs. I feel as if it may be a little less expensive than Harris Teeter. They also have a lot of brands that are difficult to find elsewhere. The staff is friendly and helpful. Although, I havent had the best experience with how my groceries have been bagged, some things have been squished or broken. I think out of every regular grocery store, Publix is my favorite but I do miss shopping at Trader Joes. read more

I CANNOT express how happy I am to finally have a real grocery store close to home. You never know how much you appreciate the convenience of a local grocery store until Walmart is your only option. Ugh. So, I very happily welcome Publix to the neighborhood. As previous reviews have mentioned, it's super clean, well lit, stocked and has some of the nicest employees ever! I'm also a fan of their subs with Boars Head meat (which you can order online and avoid the long lunch line) and their sushi is freshly made and really fresh! I'm a huge fan of this place! Welcome Publix to the Charlotte area! This is a newer location that renovated an old BiLo location. Located near the Walmart off of South Tryon road. Which by the way, is way easier to get into the parking lot at Publix than further back to the Walmart. Talk about customer service. All of the employees here are very willing to help and make the customer happy. Sometimes to the point you have to really say you don't need help (i.e. - they like to walk your groceries to the car - which is great! but just not for me). Selection is wonderful at this place. I find the produce to be a good selection, as well as other sections of the store. And their store brand I find to be of good quality as well. Prices on some items are more expensive, but I find them to be fairly on par with area Harris Teeters for most products. Also no membership card needed, which is nice. Give this place a try. Watch out for the items sold at this store, they do not check expiration dates! It happened to me 3 times! The first time I just let it go, second time I took the item back and exchanged it, the third time I requested my money back. It is hat a HIGE INCONVENIENCE to have to watch out for expiration dates or make another trip back to the store. I don't ever remember having this problem with any other store in my life! I love Publix. Very clean stores with very a very wide selection of just about anything. They have tons of lunch options and their Aprons program is great for inspiration. You will have plenty of people offer to help and/or make recommendations. They are really good with service here. The only thing that wasn't cool is I let a guy ahead of me in the sushi line and the lady gave him a discount since she knew him ...which is fine, but kind of weird when I bought the same thing directly behind him for more money. Ah nepotism ... Anyway I like it better than the Teeter in many ways so I think Publix will be my future grocery store. read more

I am on the fence about Publix. Are they a generally cleaner store than when this location was a Bi Lo? Yes. The staff are friendlier too, though sometimes too much so. Especially when they first opened - I couldn't walked more than a few feet without someone asking if I needed help. They do have a good International section with a variety of options from different countries. The sushi is a very good quick lunch option, and they have some well-priced pre-packaged sandwiches if you are trying to get back to your desk. The wine organization irritates me so I have only purchased one bottle from them and I probably couldn't find it again if I tried. They organize their wine by "flavor profile" instead of white / red and subcategories or even region. I know what type of wine I like and it is much easier when a store places all the pinots in one section and the cabs in another. I miss the Bi Lo organization and discount on wine. I will mention that Publix does wine and snack tastings, though I am not sure of the schedule. The clerks are friendly and even wait at the end of their register when they are open and not currently serving a customer. They will take your cart to the parking lot and give you a coupon for free applesauce once they have loaded your groceries into your vehicle. Everything I have purchased from there has been good quality, but the prices are higher than expected unless you catch something on discount. I do like that you don't have to keep track of a loyalty card to get their discounts; they automatically give them to you. read more

I live in the area and this publix is my grocery store. Surrounding stores and parking lot are always a mess. By far the nicest store in the parking lot. Staff is always friendly and store is clean.
