What a horrible experience! I went to get some groceries today and I took my dog with me. My dog is a 7 month old French bulldog puppy and she is the cutest thing ever! By the way my dog is a licensed service dog! So I go on the register to pay and I just hear from my behind " Get your dog out of here, doesn't belong to the store "!!!! I turned around and I see that's the man who actually works in the Publix store on the register number 8. Old, white bold guy!!!! I was shocked and I couldn't believe my ears .... First of all you don't talk to no one in that manner and second of all you don't talk to customers like that. What a rude old man, can't believe! So I went and asked to talk to a manager, I honestly hope he gets suspended or even worse I hope he loses his job! So all of you who have dogs make sure you don't go to his register if you don't want to be treated like that! Very disappointed in this Publix. Just moved to Miami Beach, went to get a famous Publix sub and they told me the deli wouldn't be ready till 10AM. I decided to walk around and look to see if I needed anything in the mean time. When I got back to the deli at 10:05AM the same lady told me the deli wouldn't be ready till 10:30AM. That's ridiculous! In the Publix by my old house the deli was open at 8AM and ready to go. Additionally, the setup is just weird in this Publix, why is the sub station separate from the deli. It doesn't make any sense, the workers have to go back and fourth to get supplies. Worst of all, in the end I didnt even get my sub, cause I wasn't going to wait another 30 minutes ;( read more

A captive audience. That's the situation. We're stuck and Publix knows it. When I moved here, I ran into the street, tore my clothes and screamed to the heavens, "Why? WHHYYYY is there not a Trader Joe's in this city -- especially on the Beach?" After shopping here for a while, I get it. TJ's would put a serious dent into Publix's business and the big boy isn't about to let that happen. So, while we wait for the revolution against Publix to be televised, allow me to mention why it's (the revolution) is necessary. 1.) Atrocious customer service. Even in a city that seems to pride itself on bad service, this takes the cake. I can count on one hand the amount of genuinely helpful and considerate employees I've encountered at this Publix (two in the deli, one stocker in frozen foods, a stocker in dairy, and a cashier; you guys are awesome. This diatribe isn't for you. You deserve raises). Routinely, I'll see disaffected teens rummaging about doing little other than checking their phones, rolling their eyes and avoiding work. Check out is always a hassle. Despite being a giant store, there's hardly anyone available to bag groceries. This leads to delays in the line because the cashier has to bag. This leads to items being left behind. This leads to older people having to lift their own (heavy) bags into carts while younger men look on and do nothing. Four times I have brought this up to management. Four times I have been told "we'll fix it." It's not fixed. Truly, it's simple. Have baggers at the end of each line. It gives the legion of workers standing around doing nothing something to do and it expedites the shopping process for customers. See how easy that is? Now you can continue to sit back and not do anything. 2.) Prices. I get it. It's on the Beach. It's in Miami. Butbutbutbut... when Whole Paycheck offers better prices on staples like produce and dairy, it's time to reevaluate the price point. Back when I lived in Orlando, I could have sworn there used to be a Publix card for discounts on shopping. Or, maybe, I'm making that up. Anything's possible. What's fact is that no such card exists today. I was told "the savings are in the prices." Oh, so that's where the"you saved $4.78" came from. Thanks! 3.) Product. Be sure to check produce for mold. A very good friend of mine is the queen of putting 'expired' stickers on old milk she finds at the market. I am tempted to follow her lead. Routinely, I bag up moldy produce and attempt (attempt) to give it to a worker to be thrown out. I understand with the kind of volume at a location like this it can get hard to keep up with product, but shouldn't the produce manager at least hover around the section and make sure that the store is selling viable goods? Please. At least pretend that you give a d@mn. Yes, the amount of eye candy here is surprisingly high. Yes, there's convenient parking (I wouldn't know; I walk to and fro). Yes, the wine selection is impressive (please try to do the same with the beer selection... and don't chill the entire selection you have. Buying cold beer and bringing home skunked beer because it warmed in the oppressive Miami heat thanks to the oppressive Miami traffic is not the business.). But none of this changes the fact that shopping here is an exercise in frustration that oftentimes leaves me (and others) at my wits' end. Simply put, Publix: do better. Oh Publix, how I love/hate thee. You are still a-ok in my book, but last night's shopping experience was not a pleasure. I brought with me my many canvas bags so I would not have to use plastic and handed them to the bagger. Well, the poor lady had no clue what she was doing. My instinct was to become frustrated as she bagged individual items in plastic bags, then placing them in the canvas bags. As she put potatoes on top of hot dog buns and overstuffed my bags, I cringed. Finally I asked if I could do the rest myself and we left the store annoyed as all hell. So yeah, the lady was a crappy bagger, but I have to blame Publix and their management for poor training. It's not a difficult task and she had obviously not been taught how to do her job. So I'm a fan of this place because it's close to my house and it's all shiny and new. The staff has been super nice and helpful. I even waited to write the review to see if it was only nice for the first couple weeks...but they've stayed nice. They also usually have a lot of lanes open to for check out. These are the reasons I gave it 4 starts. It's not "as good as it gets" because they actually have a fairly small produce section, I think because they made the "ready made" food section enormous. So, it's nice to stop in and pick stuff up for a picnic or the beach if you don't want to cook. And they don't have all that much greenwise stuff, even though they are supposed to be a super greenwise store. Some of the variety is also missing. Am I the only weirdo that likes to visit Publix stores located in neighborhoods other than my own? Because I needed a few grocery items and I happened to be on the beach, and I'm a weirdo that likes to visit other stores, I got a chance to check this place out. Maybe I'm just a creature of habit, but I like my Mary Brickell Publix better than this one. Sure the SoBe Publix is HUGE. It's nice that I have plenty of room for my cart. However, I just couldn't find a few key things that I am used to finding at MY Publix. Of course, take everything I say with a grain of salt because here's some of the things I couldn't find: Varied selection of pre-made cookies in refrigerated section Varied selection of jell-o (why no pina colada or strawberry daiquiri?) A good California Wine selection -- the selection in general was miserable IMO Ice cream selection was poor -- not a lot of lactose free variety On the other hand, this store had a great Greenwise section and also had the 4-pack of Chimay bottles. At MY Publix, I can only get the honkin giant bottle of Chimay --and it forces me to drink too much at once. (Ok, I have no self control). Great location, great Publix overall, great that it offers 2 hours of free parking, but I'm grateful for my Publix because it's got the stuff I need. read more

The new Publix at 5th & Alton is a win in my book. It's walking distance from my house, which is awesome. But if I need to pick up more than I can safely carry for 7 blocks, they also have free parking for up to 2 hours! The parking garage is a little intimidating, but with practice, it's easily manageable. The lay out of the store is also a little different than other Publix locations I've frequented in the past. But it's so shiny and new, that I can't help but love it! The first time I was there, there was a random power outage flash, which was very strange, but the store recovered very nicely. All the employees I've encounted have been very pleasant and eagre to help, which is truly a breath of fresh air! While I love my Whole Foods, the Greenwise section here is giving them a run for their money! Thanks Publix, and welcome to the neighborhood! read more

Publix is the go to grocery store down here. This one is fairly good and the prices are not as high as Whole Foods! We went here a few times for the basics like milk, bread, sandwich meat, and ice cream. The sandwich meat is Boars Head and all of it was excellent. We'll be coming back to this one. read more

This publix has come a long way since their opening. They are much better now in terms of inventory, service was always great (better than their fancy sister "fresh market") but now their variety of products is much larger. Only reason why I don't give them 5 stars is because of the messed up situation w the elevators (not their fault really, the contractors who made the plaza probably got their college diplomas by mail!) and also this publix is still missing the croquettes!! ;) read more

This is the best publix I have ever been in. First of all the place is huge. They have an entire organic selection of produce, and one isle. I prefer shopping here the produce is the freshest I have seen. They have such a huge turnover that nothing seems to be just sitting and rotting like when I go into some of the older Publixes. I love they have a huge variety also, some things I get here when I run into the smaller publixes they do not have. Also, they have more things on sale weekly because they carry a larger selection of items. Even in the bakery the bake healthier breads, that you do not see at the smaller Publixes. As Nathaly L. mentioned, parking can be dangerous because the people exiting the first level can easily hit someone going up the ramp while trying to stop at the stop sign, where said people are exiting. This is one of my biggest fears. Other than that, the Publix is a decent size, there are plenty of beautiful people shopping around, and the hot foods section is pretty good, as well as the deli. I love their chocolate parfaits! Another "con" is that the elevators in the garage are quite confusing, only certain ones will go downstairs to the first floor where the Publix is, and for some reason, there is no signage to indicate which ones are the ones that will take you there. This in and of itself is frustrating as I feel like I am walking in circles trying to find the damn things (I think only 2 elevators take you there, or perhaps it's just 1, I forget). The aisles are somewhat spacious, but the layout is odd. I much prefer the new Omni Publix on 17th and Biscayne, but it's a bit out of my way. I do like that there are other nearby stores here, like Ross, and some food options in the same building, on the first floor, so you can stop on your way in or way out of Publix and browse, or get something to eat. The parking attendants are also quite friendly. I wish the Publix by Alton had a hot foods section (I don't recall seeing one), because at least the parking there is safer, although if it's raining, you will get wet, unlike the SoFi Publix which has that big garage...sigh, I guess nothing is perfect. read more

I love this Publix! It's huge and has everything that most other Publix in Brickell doesn't have. Everything is so spacious and they always have fresh bread available, such as the Kaiser rolls. My boyfriend and I also got pizza dough from the bakery to make our own. It's close to other stores such as Staples, Best Buy, Ross, and TjMaxx as well as eateries such as Red Mango. So it's a one stop shop here! Plus you get 2 hours of free parking! Now who can complain about that?! My only complaint: they didn't carry Americone Dream (Ben and Jerry's). How could you not carry ice cream that has caramel and chocolate covered waffle cones in it!! read more

The aisles are a bit upsetting due to the width and accessibility to many items. All FL Publix's follow one of about nine floor plans. This one is one of the more uncommonly used due to its confusing layout and restricted walkspace. The organic everything is on one aisle so if you're attempting to look through the rice section for an organic option, you'd have to go to another aisle to find a mix of everything just displayed alongside each other. The dairy section is so visibly frustrating because of the extra loop to separate the yogurts fro the eggs that are halfway across the store. It's like the fluidity was completely missed when designing the floor plan. All the bread faces the direct sun next to a window which isn't the best storage method to say the least. Let's not talk about the online ordering of the deli meats. It's just a weird and inconvenient method way of saying "Where Shopping is a Pleasure, sorta..." read more

Went to the sub station to get a sub but after watching the lady make 2 bacon egg and cheese sandwiches I asked for that. She says we don't make them, "I watched her with my own 2 eyes make them. She said I only did that because she's a FRIEND! I think she had to be the most disrespectful and incompetent employee ever and to lie to me after I watched her make the breakfast sandwiches was enough for me to never come back to a Publix ever again. This is the Shops at 5th & Alton Publix. Mega store. Huge, almost too big. They have an entire organic aisle and a huge bakery and fruit and vegetable section. Also, very busy, too busy in fact. A lot of unnecessary driving in the garage, walking down countless aisles to find food. Then there are the swarms massing at the elevators and check out lines. For Sobe, I prefer the other two Publixes, they are far better. read more

The parking garage is the worst experience i've ever experienced in retail. I'm surprised nobody has been run over yet. 4 lanes all exiting at the same time. crazy. Even worse are the elevators, which are 130 degrees hot, and there is always at least one broke down. I don't think I have ever visited when an elevator has not been broken. They need to pass out cold towels to anyone entering the store to wipe the sweat away. read more

I was worried when I read the most recent reviews, when I got there I must say this place impressed me and I'm not easily impressed. All the employees here are greeting customers constantly and offering help. The whole place looks new and neat, shopping carts and baskets are clean and available at the entrance. Terrible service, unqualified people working at the pharmacy, they see their job as an ego trip. I just tried to fill a simple prescription, the pharmacy called with a ton of judgement (not the first time) and essentially told me my prescription is cancelled and I should call the doctor. She would not say why and I had to ask several questions to get just half the story. Very rude to treat customers this way, all she had to do was to give me a call to get the information she needed. Instead the pharmacy person chose to create a drama, and when I asked why she could not have given me a call and that her tone was kind of rude, she entered teenager-land and said 'no you are rude'. I rest my case and moved my pharmacy to Amazon. Maybe the big resignation caused Publix to hire unqualified people rather than paying a bit more to get someone qualified, but that should not be the customer's problem. read more

Watch out the cold food counter with different types of Olives and more...temp is warm, not dealing clean, not properly safe : I saw staff pick up the olives from the floor and put back and then have some by bare finger. I will rather go to other store or buy with jar. read more

This Publix has the worst employees in comparison to the other 2 Publix supermarkets here on Miami Beach!!! Not all of them , but some talk back to you rudely, if you get hot under the collar with them .. I have been in that food industry for over 30 years , on and off .... Here's how it would go down where I cane from : if a customer came into the supermarket with the most ugly attitude , you HAD to defuse them and smile ! We came here for the fried chicken. I got the 2 dark piece meal with a side of rice/beans and mac n cheese. The sides weren't special but the chicken is tender and juicy...potentially better than popeyes. My total was less than 5 bucks! I'd def come here for the fried chicken any day. read more

I love this Publix purely because it is so conveniently located. Because living on the beach has made me feel like having to drive everywhere is a huge hassle, when I don't want to "drive all the way up to the other Publix" (aka - Publix on the Bay by 17th), I go to this one. Which is basically every time. I would complain that they have no Pharmacy, but there is a Walgreens about a block away, so w/e. I can't be harsh on them for that, since they are providing 3 locations withing a 1.5 mile radius. The one thing I do have to complain about is that the people that work here are flat out rude. Just in a general sense that they don't smile when they check you out, and most of the time don't even say Hi back to you when you greet them. I must learn to lower my standards and expectations for customer service at some point in my life, since it seems to be leading me to be constantly docking stars left and right these days. read more

Another Publix that stands out in my mind due to some aspect of its design. I find the stairs and ramps somewhat aesthetically pleasing in how they work with the vertical slab of space that attaches the garage to the actual store. That is where the idiosyncratic design ends. The interior is very similar to many newer Publix being built. I can only assume that they get a lot of customers because they have packed a full-size store's contents into a mid-size store. Saying that there are some intimate spaces in here is an understatement. I realize there is going to be regional variations between stores, but this Publix has most of the same selection as the Mary Brickell Village location in addition to items that I cannot find at MBV. You do pay a premium for that selection and the design. The prices are a bit higher than the other stores on the mainland. read more

Store is a bit on the smallish side but it's not lacking in selection. Whenever I'm on South Beach I take the .25 bus to this terminal point and pick up a loaf of bread, deli meat, and fruit for my hotel fridge. This place really needs new management. The way they run it is horrible. There's no shopping carts because they are upstairs in the parking garage. Why not hire someone to collect them? I don't know. The return line/customer service line is also the western Union and lottery line so it's always super long. Knowing that so many people use western union and the long process it takes, they should separate the lines but they don't. So if you want to return your tomatoes, which takes about 30 seconds, be prepared to wait for 5 people to fill out allll their info and their receivers info on western union forms. read more

We came here at least 3 times during our 5-day Miami Beach vacation. For years my boyfriend has raved about the guava pastries and Cuban bread that you can buy at Publix stores in Miami, so as soon as we arrived we headed here to stock up on snacks and deli meat and other essentials for our vacation. The pastries are no joke. SO DAMN DELICIOUS. I ate so many of them... The guava with cheese are probably the best, although the just-guava and just-cheese were also really good. We came back on our way to the airport to buy a big box for my boyfriend's mom. She couldn't have been more pleased. On our first trip we also got a loaf of crusty Cuban bread and some deli meats. The prosciutto di Parma here is $24/lb, and at the Whole Foods back in Philly we pay $21, so it's a bit pricey for the deli stuff. Quality was excellent, though! The service here can be a bit slow but I was on vacation and not feeling too rushed. I was also able to find rice milk and other specialty items for my special-needs tummy. Check out the baking aisle for excellent tinned guava, latin candies, and solid cane sugar blocks. read more

Miami Beach 6th & Alton - A medium sized Publix grocery store in the new Miami Beach 6th and Alton Shopping structure (with Best Buy, Ross and TJ Max). There is nothing like a new Publix store with new shopping carts, large isles and what felt like an efficient check out process. The store layout is completely different than the other stores and you will need to go down every isle on your first tip. Don't forget to go to the far East Side of the store, that's where the bread is located (in the window). You get two free hours of parking but you'll need to hit the other stores first so your ice cream doesn't melt. The parking structure is not too bad, Publix parking is on the second floor and has its own set of elevators so if you want to go to the other stores, you should avoid the second floor. read more

I am in love with this place! I am a Publix addict to begin with but there's just something about this store that's so nice - everyone is so friendly, helpful, cheery etc and aside from the normal busy times (5-7pm, weekends) it's always calm and quiet. They do have some limited selections of regular stuff due to the Greenwise additions but it's not too bad - after 5 or 6 big trips there were only 2 or 3 items I couldn't get. Just moved to Florida and although I don't generally shop at the regular supermarket I thought I'd see what they had to offer. As a vegan most regular stores have some options. I was very disappointed that there wasn't an organic section. I was also very disappointed that my only options for yogurt and Vegenaise were with soy. I wouldn't expect a store laden with artificial preservatives, GMOs, and hormones to know much about nutrition but Vegenaise does have a "soy free" option on the market and yogurt does come in almond and coconut milks. Come on Publix it is 2017! People are becoming more health conscience. Get with the times! read more

The WORST publix experience I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and go to any other publix on the beach- there are plenty and all are better than this one. Let's see, the first time I went, the staff were playing catch with toilet paper rolls in the middle of the aisle- definitely a first for a publix. Next, be careful if you want to order more than one sub, because the staff will get obviously annoyed, and it's uncomfortable. I even said, "I have other shopping to do, would you like for me to come back and order a little later?" And the woman said no, rolled her eyes and sighed as if she was doing me a huge favor. Even one of the other deli workers said to me "she gets testy, just try to ignore it." For a company that prides itself on customer service and experience, it was shocking to be treated this way. Usually publix staff go out of their way to be kind and helpful. Not the case here. Also, the staff are either clueless or just don't care, because every time I asked a question, they either didn't know, or didn't speak English. Avoid! read more

This place seems to be the Meetup for the weirdest humans. From men nervously talking and even fighting with themselves to the most picturesque individuals... Place looks old and it's not easily accessible. I struggle for minutes walking through the parking lot the few times I go. Yup, awful signaling. Poor lighting, no ambience. Whoa am I happy to pop this one! This is the Mecca, the Holy Shrine of ALL Publix's!!!!! This is a Whole Foods, CVS, and Publix merged into a huge store. They have: Soup Bar Olive and tid bits bar Hot plates section (and I'm not talking about the fried chicken and macaroni & cheese, they have that too) Specialty cheese section Ethnic Foods sections Green sections Organic foods section and every other typical section found at a Publix. It is clean, well organized, and has GREAT customer service! They even have a Customer Service Desk. I didn't wait very long to pay because they had many cashiers open and baggers ready to pack your stuff and scoop you out. I went on Sunday, my mistake, and managed to walk out of there with a smile on my face. Oh, have I mentioned how much love grocery shopping? I could spend hours in here looking at the ethnic food spices, the organic wines, reading cards from the aisle filled with greeting cards, smelling the fresh baked items in their bakery section (they had these mini pizza's I have to come back for), and picking just the right vegetables from the produce section. The seafood section doesn't have pre-wrapped items here, they wrap them fresh to order. The ONLY thing I can mention to consider: There is no street parking. If you come in your car you must park in the garage. There is one entrance and one exit to this garage and if you have ever been to and parked in the Sunset Place garage then you are familiar to this routine. You have 2 hour grace period before they start to charge for parking. Discouraging if you want to run in and out. Just a little something to think about. read more

For the slew of lousy restaurants on hand in Miami, Publix ranks near the bottom. For starters, this place doesn't take reservations, and when my lady and I arrived for our anniversary dinner, there weren't even any tables at which to sit. That combined with the bright lighting, sterile white and green tiles, and the fact that most of the food isn't even warm, let alone cooked (you expect us to cook it ourselves?) makes this one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had in Dade county to date. read more
