    Cookies.

If you are driving into Key West from the mainland and make a right onto N Roosevelt Blvd, you will see a shopping center on the left with a Publix in it. This is the closest Publix to Old town, so if you want to load up on groceries at a mega box store, this is one of your chances. Most of the shopping for groceries in the Old Town area would be in smaller mom and pop stores or convenience stores. We stopped here to get some cookies, since I had a craving for cookies as we arrived in Key West. Like all Publix stores, this one is well lit, nicely organized and it was easy to find the items I wanted. Nice staff.

    Basil gone bad

Very unhappy to buy high priced basil to open it and most pieces are already brown.- hard to photograph this

Closer example photo of employee smoking

I want to love this publix but the first impression is bad with the smell of employees smoking just outside the doors. The cigarette smell is so strong you can smell it half a parking lot away. If it's not employees sneaking a smoke out front its homeless asking for money. The store needs to police the parking lot and store entrance more. You never get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression. Inside the deli has a pick a number system but employees allow customers to jump the line by jumping in asking for item while people with numbers have to wait longer.

They also sell things like snorkels and other beach items which may be lower in price from the boutique shops in Old Town.

This location was crowded, chaotic and somewhat messy. The prices were slightly higher on average…read moreand choices were limited but I was able to find some egg nog and other seasonal items, but the options were pretty much non existent. On the plus side, they have a bulletin board which was helpful and even though they were busy they had plenty of employees so check out did not take nearly as long as expected. This store works in pinch but if you are only in need of a few items or looking for a bargain, go elsewhere.

This place. So I go to pay and I lost my card. My man comes in and we take care of the bull then…read morewe go to start looking for the card. I trace my steps to other stores and end up back here. I go up to the guy who was overseeing the self check out to see if it was there. Nope. So I go to customer service and wait for ten minutes while watching Alberto sit on the handicapped scooter playing on his phone. I finally go over to ask him for help "no speak English" and goes back to his phone. So I go back to customer service and pull the phone out and start calling anyone who will answer to get some help. The dm nor the manager answers so I randomly dial numbers and I get the guy who is at self check out. Turns out he is the manager and said he already told me he didn't see it. I said ok, thanks and walk out. Turns out my son had to go potty. I take him out of his car seat to go into the same door I have now gone in and out multiple times. Alberto is there laughing. I said it's 20 minutes early! My son needs to use the bathroom. He laughs "no speak English". So I try to open the door. He said "it's locked." Thought you didn't speak English. I go around and Alberto and the manager Livan are laughing as I come up. I asked him why he locked the door twenty minutes early, my son has to use the bathroom and the sign says 6 not 5:40 you close the door. He laughs and says "then go use the bathroom". Really?! Like I didn't know that. The rudeness is atrocious.
