A hidden Key Largo Publix supermarket behind heavy greenery in the Tradewinds Plaza. Perfect place to hit up for beer, water and ice before your Keys adventures. Been here many times and its always been clean and well stocked. The bathrooms are always clean and located at the front of the store next to the check out registers. A commercial inventory truck was blocking the front right fire zone causing a safety issue upon exting into the parking lot. If you're lucky you can catch a glimpse of roosters running throughout the parking lot or taking a rest on your vehicle (see pics). read more

This Publix located in the Tradewinds Plaza is new and improved after taking over the old Kmart spot and expanding into quite possibly the most beautiful and expansive Publix I have ever seen. I have been to countless Publix's in my day, but none are like this. Every department is humungous. There is so much variety, space in the aisles, assortment and layouts like I have never seen. If you are in Key Largo, I would totally make this a pit stop for a boat day or beach day run. It has everything you need including a liquor store next door. I think that the overall rating for this store must be because of some old reviews before it reopened as a larger space in 2024, because this spot truly has it all. I will say, parking is a bit of a nightmare on the weekend. It makes sense as there is also a Burlington and TJ Maxx in this plaza. read more

As locals, we really looked forward to the new, larger Publix (moved/opened 02/2024). What a let down it has been since! First off, the parking lot completely sucks! Lines were drawn closer together to get one more space per row. When I park my Rubicon, the tires touch the white lines on the left and right sides if I choose the straight in parking. The angled parking is slightly wider. I got my first door dent here!!! My neighbor's car got hit by someone backing up in the narrow lane, so I am not alone. The store itself has wider aisles and rather than stocking more product, they spread the same item across more of a shelf. Check out the Chef Boyardee offerings for some entertainment! They cover about 10 feet! lol . Items that were stocked in the previous location are absent here. I buy a specific brand of sesame oil, which was $5.99 in the previous location. They no longer carry that brand. They only offer a huge container for $25! While eggs have come down in price overall (mainland Walmart $4.99), the price here remains $10.99! Oscar Meyer bacon is pretty much in the $7.00 range everywhere, except here. It's $10.98 - $11.28! They realize they can price gouge the tourists, but in doing so, probably hurt locals more. Currently, there are only a handful of local employees who worked at the previous location. Everyone else comes from the mainland to work. The mindset is obvious. I was looking for coconut aminos. Knew the location at the previous location. Went to the service desk for assistance. Employee tried to get someone from the department. No success. Tried to get a manager. Nope. Finally got the store manager after 10 minutes. Nope. But I could order it. At checkout, numerous times I will encounter almost unfriendly checkers who definitely come from the mainland. If I wanted the Miami attitude, I would shop/live there. Who hired these few people? Overall, this store gets a fail for numerous reasons. read more

Publix is my hometown grocer in NSB so I was so happy to see one of their locations so close to the campground where we are staying in Key Largo. The shelves were full in preparation for the 2022 Thanksgiving Holiday and although we travel pretty well stocked it never fails that there are a few last minute items that we need. Yes this is an older store and the exterior is showing some signs of wear and repairs are still underway from damage sustained after a recent storm, but the interior is just what I've come to expect from Publix, very clean and organized and staffed with some very friendly associates. I needed a 12 pack of Dos Equis, hickory chunks for the smoker (Greenwise chunks were almost $2.00 cheaper than the national brands), frozen yeast rolls and something to help with the turkey gravy since there are no dripping with smoked turkey. Well everything was easy to find except the rolls, they were all sold out so there will be another stop needed before Thanksgiving. Speaking of rolls I also needed a few rolls of quarters in case I come across more penny smashing machines while out exploring, the customer service counter was able to accommodate that request for me. This store is located at the end of the road with no additional exits so the traffic congestion can be a little challenging and the multiple crosswalks makes it a stop and stop and stop and go situation no matter which direction you are going, hell I had to stop to let two roosters cross the road, I have no idea what they thought was on the other side but I do know they jaywalked and was in no hurry, oh well the adventure continue... read more

First the pharmacy. Your doc prescribes you a med you need to start taking right away and calls it into Publix... to wait another day or two to get the medication. Sloooooow. They are understaffed. The great big new Publix is also almost double the price of Walmart. On just about everything. At least Winn Dixie isn't price gouging on food. Check expiration dates. Speak Spanish if talking with anyone trying to serve you from deli or hot plates or bakery. Otherwise clean and the manager is nice. read more

I went in to buy oatmeal cookies around 8:15am and there were none available. I then asked an associate if they had any in the back and she asked the associate who said they would be baked LATER. I asked the associate to please inform the bakery managers to at least bake one batch first the morning since they did bake a batch of chocolate which was on a baking cart ready to be packaged after cooling down which she said is the most popular seller. I live Key Largo across the st from Publix, being a costumer for 10 years or more, i go everyweek few times and i spend like 4 to 5 hundred a week. I have a chihuahua 4 pound and she is an emotional support i never had a problem going there i have the ID and i put it in the cart with a small blanket. A new manager Ralph came to me with a bad attitud telling me i cant have he, i have an ID he even call the police so embarrassing for me. Hope you can do something i will call my lawyer to complaint. I live here in Key Largo. I shop at this Publix all the time. The only complaint I have is, this is the second time I've needed to ask for assistance finding something. Both times the employee that I ask doesn't speak a word of English. It's really annoying. I know it's hard to find employees that want to work but, really! They need to figure this out. read more

They always have a lending hand, and make sure my visit is always a pleasure. *the hot case in the bakery is absolutely amazing, and they have so much to choose from. I Iam a costumer in Publix for 10 years I spend more or less $500 weekly everybody knows me there. I have a small chihuahua 4 pounds, she is my emotional support pet, registered. I bring her all the time with the ID and blanket in the shopping cart. This new manager 33037 came to me with a nasty attitud that I cant have her in the cart. Manageres before even thank me for putting her in a blanket. My wife is a veterant and we both have mental problems, that is why she is an emotional support pet. When I told him he answer me with a bad attitud and didn't let me explain he wanted to me to leave the store in front of everybody He even call the police to me so embarrassing for me i was shaking so bad. He is name is Ralph, few employees told me they dont like his attitud. I will call my lawyer monday and see what he says. Every time I go into publix (in key Largo) I come out feeling happier. Between the greetings and my experience at checkout I'm feeling better than when I came into the store !! If I could give the publix Deli in Key Largo zero stars I would but unfortunately that is not an option. It's unfathomable that no matter what time of the day it is you can't order a sub without them needing to walk away from the line to either cut something or walk across the kitchen to get something. Today I watch the attendant have to go to the slicer on back to back to back to back orders. It's not rocket science have your food prepped for the day. You obviously know the volume of customers you receive in a day. So why not prepare for it? The employees don't care about the line they are laughing and lackadaisical about everything. If there are more than 3 people in line you're better off driving to the publix in Islamorada. read more

If it was possible to give zero stars, I would. This is not only the absolute worst Publix in the chain, but the absolute worst grocery store on the planet. Not because of the store itself, but mainly because of the employees who work there. I've been going to this Publix for 20 years, and within the past couple of years, I've never been treated worse in my life. On check-out, godforbid you ask for a bag if you have a couple of items or less. They make the biggest deal out of it, even if you get one at all. Last night's experience takes the cake though, and I've HAD enough. This lady Mary who has been working there for literally as long as I've been going there made me feel like such garbage, that I never want to go in there ever again. I bought one small box of Success boil-in-bag rice, and I told her that I needed a bag for it (this was at the customer service counter at the front of the store). She takes my item and puts it into a tiny small brown paper bag. That didn't bother me even though I prefer to have had it in a plastic bag. I then say to her very nicely that I would rather have it in a plastic bag. She looks at me like I'm crazy, points to my item on the counter and says, "For this????" Whoever is reading this, Yes, I'm NOT making this up! First of all, WHY is she even questioning the fact that I would rather have it in a plastic bag instead of a tiny brown paper bag?? Just give it to me without giving me your opinion either way! I responded, "Yes, for this, is there a problem??" She then very slowly proceeds to grab the plastic bag for me off of the rack behind the counter like it was the end of the world, and WHILE she's doing so she's literally shaking her head back and forth in disgust! Again, I am NOT making this up, people! We exchanged a few words after I displayed my own disgust about the way she acted, and had it immediately in my mind that I was going to contact the district manager (Shane Nelson) to let him know how I was treated. And if you believe it, she's an assistant manager there. I don't care what type of seniority she has in that store, she needs to be reprimanded like any other employee, and be held accountable for how she treated me and made me feel (like TOTAL garbage)! Key Largo, FL, where this store is located (and where I live), is a very hot tourist attraction area, so if you're ever in this town and you need to go to the supermarket, DO NOT come here! Unfortunately, this is the only Publix in our city, but there is a Winn-Dixie about four miles north of this store, so take your business there instead! Trust me, it's worth the extra gas and time to get there. I've been going to Publix's my entire life being a native of South Florida, but this store is the absolute worst of them all! We usually only go to PUBLIX for the guava pastries, cuban sandwiches and Cuban bread! People in the bakery and Deli are always willing to bend backwards to accommodate us. KEYS WEDDING--THE CAKE. The ladies of the Publix bakery far exceeded my expectations! The cake came in under budget and it looked every bit as pretty as I'd hoped. I brought a picture of the cake design to the bakery, and I was really relieved when they said, "Sure! We've done several like this in the past." My design was a very simple 3 layer cake with white icing, satin ribbon, and a starfish on top in place of the "bride and groom" figurines. They took their time helping me pick the flavors (I ended up with a vanilla cake with coconut and key lime filling.) Best of all, they recommended I get a display cake for 40 people and then a sheet cake for the remaining 60. This little piece of advice saved me big bucks. And they were NICE about it. I can't tell you how refreshing it was not to feel humiliated for needing to stick to a budget. Planning a wedding can be a soul-crushing experience for a person with limited funds, but these ladies treated me like a princess. I brought in my own ribbons and starfish, and I changed my mind at one point and decided to add some translucent sugar sparkles. Through it all they were smiling and accommodating. I felt like they made me a beautiful cake, not just because they're skilled professionals who know how to do it, but also because they were excited for me and wanted me to have a happy wedding. I loved my cake, and I'll always be grateful to the wonderful ladies of the Publix bakery in the Keys. read more

The beer and wine section alone is worth an additional 2 stars. This Publix knows how its bread gets buttered. They have everything a tourist could need. That is, if think you need more than beer on your trip to the Keys. There is a permanent display of floatee rings and other water accessories when you come in the main entrance. The deli kicks @#$. They carry seasonal items like tickle sticks, nets and gloves (for mini lobster season) that I've never seen other Publixes do. Don't get me wrong; they know how to take care of their locals too. You can go in on a plain old Wed morning and they still will have enough check out lines open. They are a larger Publix, so they have the space to have the selection that you want. They are popular enough that they have great rotation and everything always seems to be fresh. They also have a larger than normal organic produce section. The only sour note is the parking lot. They have to redraw the lines down some of the aisles. But there is plenty of it, and room for trucks pulling trailers so no need to take away a star. read more

Not only does this location have a large selection of products, fresh produce, and amazing deli and bakery (all the usual), but they also have the largest selection of beach stuff that anyone could need in the Keys. From floaties, to beach bags, to waterproof cases for your stuff. And they have almost every sunblock and tanning oil ever created. Everything you need to be in the Keys. We started our trip by coming here and gathering the essentials for Night 1 - skirt steaks, fruit salad, and BEER. And of course other random items as necessary... Tanning oil and Sunblock (SPF 80); ice; ice cream; the list goes on! $110 later, we were ready for the night! Thank you for always coming through with great selections of fresh and new products. This is a bullshit review. I know nothing of this supermarket except for that of the aisles 1-3. This is the beer and wine section. It is historically my first stop upon entering the Keys. I can always get Sam Adams Cherry Wheat. Other than citrus & Shipyard's Pumpkin Ale, this is the only exception to fruit in beer. They have a reasonable selection of microbrews here as well. And they seem to rotate the selections frequently. I'm certain that they carry food and health and beauty products, as it is their niche, but it's the Keys. Buy some beer and a koozie with fish on it and be on your way. Besides, your trunk is probably full from your stop at the Adult Video Outlet a mile back anyhow. read more

Took an hour to get a sandwich at the deli. Understood it was Sunday but an hour is a little steep. Plus had to take time at the check out lane for a some time because all express lanes were full. Once at the register elderly lady helped us. I told her I had a salad and pasta from the bars by the deli. She rudely corrected me that it was pasta salad not pasta. It made no sense. She then took my salad bag that I was using for all my items and said that's only for combos. So she just wasted a bag I've been using for all my items to give me two regular bags... Made NO sense. As far as grocery stores go, this one was pretty good. Big and clean and bright. It was a little hard to find the things we were looking for though, the ATM, towels, and sunscreen. We didn't get much, but we got in and got what we needed. They have a big parking lot, but no bike racks (that I could see) which was kind of problematic since we came in on bikes and it is right next to the bike path. read more

Nothing really remarkable about this supermarket-- but in the Florida Keys, that's actually kinda a good thing! I had never been to, or even heard of, a 'Publix' prior to winding up here for lunch fixins' and road snacks. It was refreshing to find a big, modern supermarket here in Key Largo rather than another soulless Walmart hell-hole or an overpriced Kwik-E-Mart. This place had everything we needed and more, including a bakery and a deli. Good place to stop and stock up on groceries and other goods, plus the air conditioning was a pleasant break from the hot, muggy weather outside. read more

You know how you walk into some grocery stores and groan internally, thinking, "can I conceivably buy everything I need in 90 seconds and leave?" And, on the other hand, you'll walk into other grocery stores and you almost feel the excitement of all the delicious food possibilities? (No? Well, I do.) Tradewinds Plaza is DIRTY. Garbage left in common areas, yellow paint peeling and scraped, building paint is dirty, foliage unkempt and they just add mulch to solve the obvious neglect. Publix at Tradewinds does a giant business, is clean itself, but is stocked haphazardly (especially with sale items). MANY times they are out of sale items in their flyers (I am a weekly customer so I say this with surety). The competitors and other Publix just north on the mainland is kept significantly better and their selection and their quality level produce puts the Key Largo Publix to absolute shame. I can't tell you how often people have laughed at the low quality produce while shopping. Not always...but frequently enough...that you start to think that this store is given the "left-overs". For the outrageous prices that the Tradewind's Publix charges it's customers, it should be providing a much higher quality shopping experience. I just returned from Florida City (not exactly a fancy place) but my shopping experience was MUCH less expensive (ex. 96 cents for a dozen large eggs vs. Tradewinds Publix at a disturbing $2.85!) . It is obvious that the Keys is being charged a premium because of our tourism...and the locals get screwed. With the mounting filth and disrepair of the Tradewinds Plaza, I can see how people will start making other shopping experience choices. You can't always depend on the reviews of desperate tourists quickly grabbing their beer and chips, locals greatly support local businesses too! To be fair, the PEOPLE working at the Publix are very kind. The cashiers are always friendly. To be honest though....Every time I have caught Publix overcharging for items (not infrequently), they have tried to quickly rectify their mistake. My experiences with store management have not impressed me but my experiences have only been two. For example, When I reported being unable to find up to six items in a single trip due to understocking, the manager listened but no improvement was noted. Neighbors also have reported requesting more organic and better produce from the manager....but they have been going to the mainland since no significant improvement has been made and/or their prices are too high compared to the exact item at competitors. If you are going to charge sky high prices, you need to provide an immaculate and quality shopping experience and they are falling very short. Time for Publix to negotiate a massive improvement of the weary , old, and decrepit Tradewinds Plaza! read more

Where shopping is always a pleasure. In town for the week so I needed to get my groceries and it always brings me joy to find a Publix. I know I'm getting quality and this occasion was no different. The staff was their usual friendly selves. I got everything I needed especially the great BoGo deals. I liked that their produce section was well stocked with fresh fruit and veggies. Ever since September 6th 1930 public has been around and it has never disappointed me or my family. Me and my family have been shopping there for many years and they only sell the best of all products. I don't just give it five stars because its public, I give it five stars because it's great. The facility is clean, employees are nice, and they know how to do things like for example, they know how to put the products in the bag properly and they know how to do it with out breaking another product. Stopped in mid afternoon last Sunday, October 27 to pick up a few things for our 3 day drive to Key West, yes, I said 3 day drive, I say take it slow, or don't go. I have to give kudos to the young man who was bagging for the cashier. He was possibly one of the most kindest gentleman we have ever met. My only mistake was not getting his name off of his name tag for this review. He had the biggest smile while bagging and loading our bags into our cart, and finished of with "Thank you, have a blessed day". As we made our way to our rental car, he was right behind us doing carriages in the parking lot. I hope this review finds its way to Publix and the manager can see this. I can only describe him as a young black male in his late teens, tall and thin, and so so polite. What ever this young man ends up doing in life, I'm sure it will be something big, there was just something about him that stood out. read more

I truly like this store and have never had a complaint until now. It actually has nothing to do with the store itself but about a sausage brand that is being sold in the meat department. Twice now I have purchased Roman brand hot Italian sausages and both times they were inedible with just too much grizzle and fat. I don't think the third time will be the charm! Wish I would have kept my receipt for a refund. read more
