I don't make it that often, but I always enjoy the experience. From the flowers to the frozen food, to seasoning, to cheese, all the way to the employees in their floral shirts - it's usually a good time. The staff is fantastic, they have a great selection of items, and it just tastes good! The frozen butter chicken entree is my go to for "emergency meals" at work when I didn't have leftovers, etc. And what's even better - it doesn't taste like a frozen meal - it's just yummy! I mostly shop here for drinks, household items like cleaning supplies, and the occasional candy/snacks. Dollar General is pretty couponer friendly, and you can find Facebook group and pages that teach you how to find deals here. The trick to shopping here is to use the app. Every Saturday, the app has a coupon for $5 off $25, and that coupon combines with other digital coupons on the app AND deals in the store. Coke 12-packs are usually 3/$16 or 3/$17 which is cheaper than the grocery store sales. Occasionally the app has a $5 off $25 coupon for other days of the week, or the coupon will be $10 off $40. Use the app for your first order, and if you need more items, the register almost always prints another $5 off $25 coupon you can turn around and use on other things. If I'm done shopping, I just leave the printed coupon with the cashier and tell her she can pass it onto another customer who doesn't have a coupon. The only con to this DG store is that the entrance to the parking lot is a little weird. There's a private driveway just beside the DG entrance, so you have to be sure not to accidentally turn in there. I also never make a left turn leaving because Hwy 61 traffic is insane.

With a new car wash company popping up on every corner in CHS right now, I still use this locations if I have time. The only thing that I've found at this Spinx location (and many others) is they don't keep up on their lottery scratcher displays. They'll display that they have tons, but when you ask, they don't have the ones displayed. I'm sure it's an annoying part of the job to go around front and remove each card after it runs out, but if I worked there I'd find it more annoying getting asked every 5 seconds for something that's sold out.... You decide!

When we got to the deli, there was only one person ahead of us and the food looked EXTRA fresh. (Jackpot.) I'm standing there looking at everything and thinking... wow, this all looks good. Pork chops, baked chicken, fried chicken, sweet potato casserole... I could keep going. Presentation? Solid. When it was my turn, I went with baked chicken (a thigh and leg), yellow chicken rice, and sweet potato casserole. Doesn't sound like a lot, right? HA. Wait until you see the serving size. My plate was LOADED. What I appreciated most was how friendly the staff was while serving the food. They were so kind and didn't have an attitude while fixing plates (and if you know deli counters... you know). They made my first experience a great one. Overall, I really enjoyed the food. The baked chicken was good. The sweet potato casserole? I honestly could have eaten an entire pan of that by myself. The chicken rice was good too, my serving had a lot of pepper, but I still enjoyed it. My dad and sister got food as well, and they both enjoyed theirs. Would I come back here? Yep! I spent $9.99 on a plate I've been eating off for TWO DAYS. That's how much food they gave me. Next time, I want to try the fried chicken because that looked really good. I first…read morestarted coming here in 2025 mainly for the produce section and to escape the "egg price war" I was running into at other supermarkets. Over time, we began bringing home more and more of our groceries from here. At first, we were a little apprehensive since some products are sourced internationally and the flavors can differ slightly from what we were used to. However, we quickly grew to appreciate the quality and unique taste of many of the items. The produce is consistently the freshest in Goose Creek, and the organic meats are excellent. We especially enjoy the eggs, milk, butter, coffee creamers, gourmet cookies, and sliced cakes. The savings have been significant for our household. We used to spend around $800 a month on groceries for the 2 of us... and now we average between $350-$400 -- without sacrificing quality. The employees are polite, efficient, and almost always smiling. Sundays after church can feel a bit chaotic, but for the most part, the store is orderly and clean. The only consistently busy area is the seasonal aisle (Aisle 3 -- the famous "Aldi Finds" section), where everyone is searching for special deals. It looks like a tornado went through it. Lol. There were a few frozen meals we tried that didn't quite match the flavor of their American counterparts, but overall the quality of ingredients feels cleaner and less processed. The parking lot is usually full -- a testament to how popular this location is. It's well-lit, conveniently located off St. James Avenue and just a few blocks from Highway 52, and always buzzing with people coming and going. Overall, Aldi has become our go-to grocery store. I used to be a chef so when I see GMO, Gluten free, etc etc I cringe. There is hardly a definitive Government standard by which all these things are measured. Which means more often than not, it's a scam. If you want the real deal, farmers markets are the best bet. With that I observed the pricing like a hawk and comparable items had roughly a 10% markup. Now then I do love their house made foods. Cooking pizzas to order? Come on that's awesome! Desserts and cheeses are ok although I was a little down on their sliced meats and the variety. Their butcher was ho-hum and not very impressive. But... I spotted something I didn't anticipate Kangaroo, Ostrich and Bison to name a few oddities. I give credit for carrying very unpopular items around Summerville. FYI I've cooked ostrich before. It tastes just like beef only almost all lean meat for those watching your calories. I wondered around some more, noticing they had better cereal alternatives with less sugar. They lacked snacks like coconut crisps, but they did have a great assortment of dried fruits. Although I was impressed with their dried mushroom selection, no dried shiitakes! Generally, I like fresh, which they did have, but I wanted the juice from soaking them. Odd they have other mushrooms but not shiitake. The people here are fantastic. For some reason in my mind when I think of these "hippy" type of stores like Earth Fare I think very grounded and kind people. I wasn't disappointed as I asked the produce guy for something and he was all too eager to help out. If it were me, I would have been more like "check isle 3" or something. The employees are shining examples of down to earth kindness; something we all could use more of in these days. Overall, I like this place based on principal but those same principles are what keep me away. I'm not overly excited about slapping on GMO free labels when most of the time those are just buzz words to make an extra buck. Are there authentic companies out there? Sure but you really have to do your homework. Therefore, I remain committed to farmers markets. That said, I think this place is fine for those who like it. If you haven't been here before and are reading this be prepared for a slight price increase. To reiterate they do have an interesting variety of items greatly depending on specific products. I'm sure if you drop by you wont leave empty handed especially with the quality of people there to help.

It has always been easy to shop there and then drive over to the gas station to fill up my car. BJ's Wholesale Club has consistently been among the cheapest locations for fuel prices in Summerville. I would really like to give a shout out to the Tire Department. As I no longer live in the area and was visiting for a family function, I needed to have a tire replacement completed due to a tire being blown from unseen debris just before the Westmoreland Bridge on I-295. After visiting several tire replacement shops, I was unsuccessful in finding a shop who either had a replacement tire or one who could complete the work the same day. After visiting BJ's Tire Department, that problem became a non-issue as the manager on shift was able to find a tire and have the work done within an hour of arrival. Once his technician came in, the technician took over while the manager finished the paperwork. All of this was completed in a timely fashion. The manager essentially was looking for things to do and I was that thing. Nevertheless, he was able to help me and did so kindly. By going to BJ's, I ended up saving around $35. If you need car maintenance and even a tire replacement, go check out BJ's. If you do, I advise you to make and appointment as I simply got fortunate by coming at opening...or you can do that.
