Greg Hall, owner of Used Kids Records in Columbus Ohio is involved in the theft of everything my brother and I owned from a Public Storage climate controlled unit in Worthington Ohio. Hall, along with several others, entered the facility without any right or authorization to be there and removed our property from a unit in which I had paid nearly $18.000 in rental fees before selling our property online for thousands of dollars... This is not rumor or heresay. This is information I have located online as well as information we have received from detectives with the Columbus Police department... They force you to buy a lock that is 19.99. They say if you have your own, they will reimburse you. It is a trick they will not. Purchase is not a regular lock so it will never be useful for anything else the first month you have to use their insurance company I'm not even sure if that's legal, after that you can pick your own there is nobody in the office to speak with during business hours. I don't feel good about getting myself involved with them. read more

Clean unit, easy move-in, competitive storage rental rate, friendly staff, convenient location, no complaints

The facility is nice, safe, clean. The employees are very friendly and professional, though it's a one star for me because of an ongoing billing issue. I've been on auto pay, yet the auto pay did not go through once because my card changed. I updated my card. Still, they didn't process my auto pay and charged a $20 late fee. I emailed customer service, 11 times and finally got a reply that just said to go into my local store. Back in town 3 months later, I finally did and I've now paid $80 in late fees despite the error being entirely their fault. This also comes off of my rate being increased two months after the start of my contract. Nice people, good facility, the problem is not with the local office or employee but either corporate has a bit of a scam going with auto pay and late fees or just incompetence with billing and they offer no way to get any resolution other than paying. read more

When I rented the storage unit, I specifically asked how much notice I needed to give at checkout and whether my month would be prorated if I moved out on the 4th of the month. She assured me that yes, that was the case. I had not even made my next payment when I went ahead and gave them notice of moving out on the 4th of the next month. I was informed at that time which was only 3 weeks after I rented the space, that the Policy changed and now I would need to pay for the whole month and not just through the 4th. I was informed that when they change the terms of the lease they must give you 30 days notice, but when it's a policy they don't need to give you any notice. I cannot believe that after 3 weeks in their property, they can't make an exception and follow through with what I was told. Never would I recommend this place to anyone. That is bad business changing things without notice. I'm paying $144 instead of 36.00. By the way, I'm in Columbus, OH not San Francisco as it states. read more

scammers looking to make a quick buck with no customer service.. avoid.! THIS place knowingly rents out damaged units without protection and add the cost of buying locks and insurance that is not needed! Wouldn't even let me use my own lock.. what the heck??? moved out after 2mos when i finally moved into my apartment. read more

These people are scammers! Use PODS! They make you buy a crappy lock, and you are forced to buy insurance from their company which is Orange Door Storage. I moved into my 5x10 unit and the next day I went in and everything was wet with condensation. I called the office. Someone came down and checked it, said it was wet and noted my file. I dried everything off, made sure nothing was touching the walls, ran to Lowes, bought three of the big moisture absorb buckets and placed them in my unit. I went back 2 days later and again everything was still wet with condensation, it was literally dripping off my furniture and I noticed that my floor was wet near the door. Rain was getting in under the door, because it didn't form a complete seal at the bottom. There was an inch gap. I went outside. There were puddles in front of my unit, and I noticed there was no drainage. I went to the office and they said they knew that unit was a problem because "when weather comes in, it hits that area first" and "rain gets in under the door" They KNEW this unit was a problem, and rented it to me anyway. They gave me another unit. I wasn't able to move my things on that day, so I came back the next day and moved everything to a hall unit. I noticed damage on some of my furniture and a rug, I told the guy at the office and he said " file an insurance claim" so I did. Even though my claim was under $1000, and I had proof of water in the unit, I had pix of the damage and an employee's note in the file that the unit was wet. According to tne EXTREMELY HOSTILE insurance rep, I had to prove "point of water entry" in order for them to honor the claim. Also she said she thought i was "changing my story" because the Public Storage employee didnt note that water had come in under my door. So...I guess I should have had the presence of mind to take pictures of the wet floor while I was trying to preserve my furniture. I feel like even if I had pictures they would still deny the claim. I went back to the office and asked them to note that the employee witnessed water on the floor, and they declined to do so. The insurance is a scam. Even after a few days of exposure, two display units, my son's wooden pirate ship and a rug were all messed up. Everything that wasn't sealed in a rough tote was messed up. The insurance is terrible, there is no way they will pay a claim, even a small one. I implore you, use someone else! read more
