Let me tell you how this place wasted my time and money. I rented a unit from them online with same day move in. We go to the location with a Uhaul containing some equipment, and our struggles began with not even being able to get into the gate. The app is very buggy and kept saying we weren't close enough to the gate. Despite being literally pressed up against the keypad. Okay, after some trial and error we get in the gate and face another annoying locked door with a buggy keypad. I locate my unit and it is locked. While I couldn't see a physical lock on the unit, the door itself was immovable. After trying and failing we unfortunately had to leave and figure out alternate plans. I tried contacting their customer service via their chat app and was told I needed to reach out the next day during business hours. So I do that and a very rude agent tells me that since I'm trying to cancel "the day after", they won't refund me. Okay. I filed a claim with my bank. About an hour later I got a call from the site manager asking me about the situation. I explained it to her and she said she will go check on the unit. I told her I have stuff I'd like to put in there so she said great, come over and I'll meet you and help you get in. So I go and rent another uhaul, go back to the location and their office door is locked. Customer service is unavailable via phone. I tried several times to reach someone but no luck. If this is how they do business I want no parts. But I do want my money back! read more

These people are predators of customers during a crisis. they sent me this offer to move out based on the fact that they can not have auctions, and I complied. Then, right after I paid them, they tried to claim that I still owed them money, and to settle the rest of my account... which their offer to vacate never stated anything about still owing anything. They lied, and are now harassing me about money I no longer owe. Ruined 80% of the stuff I had in there. Not only did they refuse to help with any of the damage. But they sent me to collections because I refused to keep paying for the unit and clean it out of the crap covered items. SHOWED 0 EMPATHY for the problem and just kept giving me the run around. There have been more issues that I will have to get to at a later time as I don't have further energy to put into reviewing my poor experience with this company today. I can only speak to my experience. Janet has always gone above and beyond to help us. We had to go out of state for a few months and did not want to move everything state to state just to move it back. I did not expect to find someone that truly seems to.care about keeping our possessions as secure as we do. She is always quick to return a call or call us if she needs anything. We are very grateful to know she is there and our lives are secure. Especially since we have almost completed everything we went for and should be back in the next few weeks in time for school to start Thank you for making sure we have our things to return to. read more

Don't put your stuff here--unless you don't care about it. Thieves cut the hasp to break into our unit and another in the same area. It was at least two days before the staff noticed the break in. It was another day at least before they replaced the hasp and lock. When we were finally able to get to the unit several weeks later the hasp had been damaged---because thieves had attempted to get in again. The District Manager was very slow to respond to requests for pictures--very unhelpful. The police crime techs are way to familiar with this place. When we cleaned out we found two dead mice. Would never rent from Public Storage again--especially not this place. read more

They'll defecate and urinate all over your stuff to the point you have to take it to the dump- furniture, clothes, rugs, you name it. They come in through the ceiling. I wish I could give zero stars, or better yet, negative stars. We stored our stuff for a couple months and returned to find thousands of dollars worth of items completely destroyed by rats. Come to find out, this is a known issue here, and the staff continue to recklessly and negligently rent out units they KNOW rats are getting into. Public storage is the worse storage place. In Tacoma, I've had my unit for one week. And it's infested with rats. They've chewed and shit in everything in my unit. The only thing management said was they didn't know about them. But they have rat traps everywhere outside. Their only solution was their insurance. Which only covers $250. My couches alone are $1500. I don't recommend them to anyone. They won't tell you about the rats at all. You just have to look on the ground on your way to see your unit. Will upload pictures soon. After having filed a report with the Better Business Bureau, Public Storage blames me because I didn't buy their insurance. Boy, these guys are totally ignorant. I have my own insurance. I am not even trying to claim money from them. They just don't want to admit fault for removing my locks, and keeping the keys to my new locking device where everyone of their employees had access to them until I returned from military travel...this was an inside job and can't admit it...my unit was the only one robbed "allegedly" which indicates I was targeted because of my military equipment. read more

It's a storage facility. Seems fairly secure, but it better be being located a few blocks from Tacoma's most notorious neighborhood. Actual storage buildings themselves are fairly dusty and disgusting. Would it be that hard to have someone walk through the buildings once in a while and sweep the dead hobo spider carcasses out of the hallways? I'd keep storing our stuff here, but they could definitely keep the grounds up a little better. read more

We rented a unit here at the end of July, 2015. 1) They required I purchase their lock. The lock was not in a sealed container. 2) They required I purchase their insurance. I did so. I secured my unit and left. I returned on August 8, removed an item, and secured the unit. I returned once more on August 28 and could not access my unit. My key would not fit the Public Storage provided lock. The Manager (Chris) was not helpful at all. He offered no suggestions to help other than calling the District Manger (Rich Clark). I was locked out of my unit and he claimed no knowledge as to why. I procured a pair of bolt cutters and, with Chris and my spouse watching, cut the lock off with great difficulty. The unit was empty. It was all gone. The site manager (Chris) had no reaction. While I was dealing with an empty unit, he was showing new customers around the place. When I called the police, the officer informed me this particular facility has a high burglary rate. I left the unit secured with my own lock and asked them to leaver it undisturbed until I return. They removed my lock, replacing it with one of their own, due to a maintenance project. When I returned the a couple days later, I could not access my unit again and *they could not find the keys*. The DM was busy so I'd have to wait to have him resolve it the following day to get into my unit and ask about his investigation. I had to find the name of his manager in the regional office so I could leave a voice message asking for competent help. I received a call from the DM within 30 minutes, assuring me he cared and would meet me at his office first thing. When I met the DM the next day, he provided my key. Then he wanted to have the meeting in the front office, in front of staff and customers. I asked if we can talk in private. The DM seemed unprepared for this. I was led into a dirty circuit breaker room to sit in filthy chairs for that meeting. He explains that he will investigate but was light on details. I had to press him as to exactly he was going to do. I had to follow up repeatedly. He attempted to dismiss me more than once in email. I had to sit down, look him in the face, and get him to commit to tell me what he was going to do, and when and follow up. It didn't seem important to him and, well, "you have insurance." In the end, he could "find nothing suspicious," and had nothing to provide the police. If your facility's security is such that you can have an entire unit cleaned out, but no video, you are making it easier for the thieves to steal your customer's belongings. And Sedgewich, their insurance company, won't pay the claim. The say it's because there was no forced entry. If your insurance company refuses to pay, and deals in bad faith, you are screwing your customers. 1) The locks aren't secure. People can make copies of the keys before they are sold to customers. The DM claimed that wasn't that easy but I had a copy in fifteen minutes at a local Home Depot, for $2.37 just twenty minutes after Rich made that claim. 2) The cameras don't cover the facility. The staff (Manager and DM) admit this. This means they have no evidence if someone cleans out your locker. 3) They require you to use their insecure locks. I was told if I used my own lock, it would be cut off. 4) They require you to purchase insurance. We had two contacts with Cody, the claim agent. IN the first, he stated talking about depreciation of our items. Then he denies the claim. It's only $2,900 dollars. When the insurance denies the claim, the DM hides behind his claim that he has no influence on the insurance process for the company they force you to use in a facility that is not secure. 5) There were people living in the facility and the Site Manager and DM were unaware of it. They force you to buy insurance. When your lock is cut off or removed and all your stuff taken, they claim there was no forced entry. They then say "it's out of my hands." What are your possessions worth to you? My experience says that they aren't worth very much to Public Storage and Segewick Perfect Solutions. read more

When we started moving our items into the empty unit, we saw rat droppings and it smelled terrible. Then we saw a rat scurry on the roof. Nope! We went to a different storage company that day. I asked to get a refund for July, since it would be foolish to move our belongings into a rat-infested unit. I was told, "No. Our company policy does not prorate units, even if it is infested with rats." We were lucky that we didn't actually move in and have our things chewed up by rats. Especially since their cheesy insurance only covers up to $250 of damage. BUYER BEWARE! RATS RATS RATS RATS RATS RATS RATS--did I mention rats and that they don't do proper pest control? read more

I only had the unit for 4 months when they raised the rent $50 per month to $300 a month. I decided it was time to retrieve my worldly belongings from their self storage..when I opened the door I was almost knocked over from the smell of RAT FECES AND PEE..They force you to carry their insurance which is a joke..They offered me $150 to pay for my entire household..IVE lost between $30,000-$40,000 worth of mine & my 3 children's belongings..or memorabilia can not be replaced and it was priceless to me and my children...there is so much RAT FECES it has taken me and a worker 3 months to sort through what could be cleaned and salvaged to what had to be thrown away..meanwhile the storage facility is still charging me $300 per month for rent..it takes time to sort through every box and try to clean every item from the HAZARDOUS WASTE..I was told by a restoration company it would cost me $5,000 to sort through the HAZARDOUS WASTE OF RAT FECES AND PEE..the district manager RICH CLARK hasrefused to ever return my phone calls, our emails I've sent him.. I am forced to start a CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT..the management KNOWS there is a serious RAT INFESTATION AND DO NOTHING ABOUT IT..if your belongings were ruined due to the malicious acts of district manner, and local managers not informing customers they have a RAT INFESTATION CONTACT ME JOIN MY LAW SUIT THESE PEOPLE MUST BE STOPPED..All of my children's items that I had saved from them growing up were chewed to pieces, and covered in RAT FECES AND PEE...all my children's memories are destroyed..their out fits I brought them home from the hospital in when they were born, all their baby pictures, their favorite blankets, all items they should have been able to pass to my grandchildren are gone now because management, and district manger Rich Clark refuse to take care off the RAT INFESTATION..or at least warn customers off the RAT INFESTATION.. All of my name brand furniture is destroyed..there is so much RAT PEE my antique solid wood furniture was destroyed because RAT PEE soaked into the wood, it can't be salvaged, my $3,500 sleep number bed has huge holes chewed in it and is covered in RAT FECES AND PEE this place is a health hazard and should be shut down immediately..I would NEVER have put all my belongings into their self storage if I had been told the truth that they have a RAT INFESTATION..Not to mention their rates are extremely high and they raised rent $50 per month after I already had rented the unit 4 months prior..BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!! I confronted management when I discovered my unit wad full of RATS and took her garbage can off of her cleaning cart and saw her carry was covered in RAT FESCES from other units she was cleaning out..her response was she had alerted Mr Rich Clark via phine calls & emails and hee had refused to clean up the place and get rid of the RAT Infestation..this is so malicious off a business took know people are trusting that since they're paying $300 a month to store their personal belongings that they will be safe there..NOT at Public Storage on Sprague Ave.in Tacoma..I don't know how to give a minus star rating read more

This manager at the store I think his name is Chris gave me the most excellent and friendly upbeat customer service. We were put in a really tough situation with our landlord he wanted to sell our house and gave us hardly any notice that all. So we called around looking for storage units because we had more to put all of our stuff. We knew we were going to get into a place within a month we just needed some more to put it in the meantime and even though they knew we were only going to have the unit for month they still gave us the $1 special. So we got in 11 foot by 30 foot storage unit for $25 plus all of the fees and the lock was $20 and we had to get insurance. The total only ended up being around $57 but for such a huge unit is still a good deal, because normally it would have been $315 per month. On top of all that the day I said I was going to show up to do the paperwork I totally forgot and then went almost all the way home and Chris called me to remind me and I told him I didn't know if I was still going to make it by the time they close but he said you would stay until I got there and ended up staying late so that I can make sure to keep that unit. He even let me park close because I had a leg injury. The whole time both him and his trainee were extremely nice and friendly. Never but Never store anything in this place. Unknown to me this is a short storage. or this is the bs I was told when every year my storage started going up 10...20..40 dollars. Depending on ?? whatever they wished. I have been storing my life belongings in the storage since 2002. For a long time yes. But I am paying a high payment for using this storage and should be able to trust them to keep my belongings free of rats and theives! I was injured and could not move/or pay to have help with moving things out to another place. But the worst was after a few months my daughter(I was injured and in bed) told me there were rat droppings every where. When able I went there and saw this. Ever where rat feces. So I go and buy rat poison and put 4 big tablets out on the floor. In my life situation I had no help to empty and get what was still ...cleanable. So next time I went there I saw a damn dead rat on the mattress to my waterbed. Next time I go its a skeleton of that dead rat.. It had crawled to the door before dying. I disposed of it and swept what little I could from the front door and threw the rest of the rat poison on the waterbed mattress. The rat droppings are all gone.. With time ...I guess have no idea.. My storage has been broken into twice that I know of...things have been stolen yes. My lock had been pried and broken. They changed the locks on me when Public Storage took over this storage place. Unknown to me. So the keys were kept at the public storage office. Till I go there and find this out and the help had changed again...and yes more of my belongings were gone stolen. My life and memories I was forced to put in that storage and I trusted them to have a room that animals could not get into. Never BUT NEVER TRUST THIS PUBLIC STORAGE. THE insurance I got from them covers little and unless a before picture of when my belongings were first put in and now there is no way to prove things were missing..besides getting money from them would not replace my memories.... My deceased Mother, and deceased Grandmothers belongings I had were also stored there. Pictures ..and books ..stored not knowing what a mess and horrible place Public Storage is. I have the biggest unit they have. I had no choice and no help but to leave till now I am thinking of just letting it all go. If I could leave a no star I would. read more

We rented a unit to keep my homeless nephews items In. At first the lady who seems to be there all the time was very nice. Today I went from my home in north Everett to Tacoma to change the storage into his name so he can manage it. The sign on the door said be back at 3:15, it was 12:50. I saw the lady sitting at the desk but the door was locked. I knocked on the door 5-6 times before she raised her food bowl up the show me it. The public storage does not state they will be closed for lunch, and I just wanted to know if she was really going to sit there for an hour and 10 min? I was not going to wait for her until 3:15 as her clock said on the door. She called me after 2:25 and said she had to lock the door and would not get up to talk to anyone while she stuffed her face. If public storage is going to lock up " for lunch " they should put up that sign, it's rude to stuff your face and ignore customers without a good excuse. She did tell me , my nephew and my wife that the clock said 2:15 but I took a picture of it and she lied! Yes we do not approve of lazy people whom stuff their faces while ignoring customers. read more

They had a rat problem and didn't notify me. I randomly go get some stuff out of my storage unit and find the roof insulation falling down and eat feces and urine over EVERYTHING! They warned us about condensation and we prepared for that but they gave us no warning or update to care for our things even when they definitely knew they had/have a rat problem. They refused to compensate us for any damages and they demanded we move our things out of the unit in 72 hours so they could clean it but wouldn't provide any assistance for moving the items. Very unprofessional when speaking with them and hard to communicate with anyone about everything from payments to help with the rat problem. I rarely give poor reviews but this company has taken very poor care of us as customers. read more

i have had a 5x10 unit at this location for 4 yrs now and never really had an issue even when i was late paying the rent or when i needed to split the payment within the month. i never had my lock drilled out before, i spoke with jennifer on the 27th amd told her i would pay the remaining balance of 100 bucks on the 1st of july. she said she would note my account to avoid it going to auction. what did i find on the 2nd when i went to check on my belongings....metal shavings on the floor in front of my unit. they went i to my unit on the 2nd even after i paid the balance thru their app in the 1st. now my bill is twice the raised monthly amount and i have to buy a new lock!! this is ridiculous and the people working their now are liars and completely rude. thanks jennifer for ur outstanding crappy ass customer service...4 years i've been a customer there and u start working there and it sucks! read more

I dealt with a gal named Anna. I am dealing with a lot in life right now, including having to move my things into storage while waiting for my new condo to be ready. I was never planning on having to rent a storage unit. She called me as promised and set up an appointment that worked with my lunch hour. I was in and out within 20 minutes including touring the unit itself. She also made things very easy when I called and wanted to upgrade into a larger unit. The price is a bit more than I paid for my last unit, but this is Tacoma and a much nicer unit. I would recommend their service to anyone!! Great customer service Anna!! read more

We rented from here for almost a year. Moving our stuff in was great, the staff was helpful and professional. About four or five months ago (after moving to Texas), we saw that our price had increased by $15 from $90 to $105. We called the corporate office and they said the cost to store was increasing and somewhere in our fine print it states they can make any price changes they want. I asked why we received no contact about the change, they said they attempted to contact us but received no reply. They had our correct information, and we never received any notice. We moved out as soon as we could, but ended up paying $75 extra for the months we had no option but to store it there. Move out was easy and had no difficulties. 3 stars for the price increase and no notification, but staff on location was helpful, friendly and professional. I guess our real issues are with corporate. read more

The only shocking part was that I was expecting to leave spending closer to $10-$15 by the end of my trip, but ended up closer to $60.00 with the admin fees, insurance, etc. Still it helped a ton for what we needed and if every business had customer service similar to this all businesses would function much better. Do not rent here! I rented the largest unit over 400+ SQFT after moving from San Francisco. The unit was intended to be used for condensing into 1 unit instead of my current 2 units. The light was broken when I moved in and was assured it would be fixed in a week. It took 4 weeks! You cannot see in a unit that size without light and there is no power outlets available. I was asked to leave a key to enter the unit, but would receive a phone call informing entry prior. I went to the unit to pickup something in the middle of my work day which was the only time I had visibility with no lighting and was informed the tech entered my unit without my consent!! Not only that, but he had replaced a halogen light with a single bulb for a unit the size of a small apartment. Chris is the manager and directed me to Richard the District Manager for North Tacoma and the Peninsula. He called to assure me a resolution to the problem 4 weeks ago and hasn't returned a single phone call. This unit costs nearly $400/month and should be a priority. Richard displays the worse customer care I have ever experienced! I'm renting a truck and moving from this facility immediately. read more
