Paid a promotion price. I did understand the price would go up from $129 to $165, but at the end of 3 months they hit me with a $189 bill for climate control. On top of that in January the gate worked and the back door stayed closed. In a couple months time the gate was broken, in the time it took to move out (over a week) every day the back door wasn't even closed. Last Saturday when I arrived there was one car blocking the entire ramp access for loading and unloading. When they finally moved and I could back up to the ramp there was a police car blocking me in for somebody's call. This shortly turned to 3 Berkeley county police blocking me in on a Saturday while I was attempting to move out. The following Thursday when I went to finish moving after work the air conditioner inside wasn't working. It was later in the day and warmer inside the building than outside. Absolutely no security for the property at all and no climate control that I a paying for trying to raise rates by 1/3rd of original price. After reading reviews I also realized the prices of the larger companies will raise rates every few months and have heard of some people paying triple or more than original advertised price in under 2 years. Avoid public storage at all costs. I would rate less than a star if possible. read more

If you want mold and rat chewed stuff this is the storage place for you! Stuff was stored for just a year and there was rat/mouse damage to couch, tv no longer usable (damp is likely cause), mildew on surfaces, and all the packed in boxes kitchen stuff smelled like mildew. Property manager was told when we noticed and nothing was done. Now in a ping pong game between them and renters insurance. Renters insurance says the property should pay because they have the damp and rodents, public storage says tough and we have to use our insurance. Meanwhile we are moving in with stinky, rodent chewed furniture on a limited budget. You would be safer leaving your stuff under a tarp in a field than with public storage!! read more

Unfortunately the unit they gave me smelled like a barn. I'm not kidding. I had to go buy air fresheners to not make it smell. I tried switching and they said if I switched to a new unit, I'd lose the sale price for their president's day special. I will never used this place again, I don't think you should either. read more

People have been stealing the carts so often when I go, I have to move everything by hand. The rep I spoke to said carts are a courtesy and they will not replace the stolen carts. During my last visit the gate stopped working and myself and others were stuck inside the facility. I was about to call the fire department when a customer manually yanked on the gate to get it to open to let us out. I filed a complaint and the manager never reached out. I was on hold for 25 minutes only to be told by customer service that nothing could be done. That was a major safety issue. read more

I got a unit at the Main street location in Summerville back in November of 2024. I called and spoke with someone about changing units because the door was extremely hard to open/ won't stay open. I was told that I'd have to be placed on the waiting list because there were no units available in the size I needed. On top of never getting a new unit, the employee or manager that works on the property is very rude and unprofessional. Every time I've encountered her, she'd yell at me about the door not being open and accuse me of living on the property. Even closed my account in the middle of the month (I never put in a order to have my account closed and was not behind on payments) and then proceeded to charge me a clean up fee for my property she removed out of my unit without my permission! 0 out of 10 would not recommend read more

Do not use this company. They are pathetic. i cancelled my unit and they charged me for the next month. The account was closed before the next business cycle. They are telling me that it takes up to 8 weeks for a refund on a problem they caused. Each time that i call them they act like they don't care and half the time they barely understand them. After being a loyal customer for 2 years, paying on time and no issues the company increases rent by $20 or almost 20%. How is it possible to charge $40 more a month then is listed on the website and think that it is acceptable? Site manager directed me to customer service where the only response I got wad They "executives" meet every year to determine budgets and what increases need to be charged to make them. It was recommended to cancel my unit and rent another online if the property had one open to get the lower rate. Why go through all the hassle of paperwork and waste your employees valuable time? Site manager offered a smaller unit for a lower price. How is any of this right? Inflation is not nearly 20% a year. No sense of loyality or customer service. Employees are given no way tp make their customers happy. read more

If you're looking for something with climate control and not afraid of spending a little bit more inside the way to go your stuff is well protected and is always clean. I solely Antony says that Inez is the best at public storage n she's even better than her manager!!!!!!! one day a while back Inez was handling my storage needs in detail: she not only got me started with public storage she not only walked me to my storage unit but she went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that I understood my way to my unit... then one day I can in and the glass sliding door was broke n guess what no manager nor owner was there e to do their job not even maintenance if they have one.... yet Inez once again went above and beyond her call of duty n spent at least an hour and fixed it all while smiling the whole time!!!!!!! Inez always embraces me to make sure that my day is okay n she always ask me if it's okay if she answers the phone while helping me. The owners and the current manager need to take notes from Inez if she's not a manager or owner she should at least be a coo. even higher than her boss.........
