I do NOT recommend doing business with this company. I was functionally scammed out of my first month's rent based on a series of "misinformation" as described by Jesse the on-site manager. I reserved a 45-foot rental space, with the explicit approval of storing a small trailer, camper, and boat in that space. I asked multiple times confirming that storage of multiple things was OK via the 800-688-8057 Public Storage phone call and placed a reservation on a space. The same day, I went to the location and signed documentation, and spoke face-to-face with someone at the front desk. Again...I confirmed that storing multiple things was OK, and was reassured that there was no problem. I was even personally escorted and walked to my space to confirm its location. 3 days later I get a phone call from Jesse the site manager that I had too many things stored in 1 space and that it wasn't allowed. I informed him of the previous discussions and assurances that storage of multiple things was agreed upon, and he said I had been 'misinformed', and 'you won't get a refund' very rudely. I spoke with Public Storage's 800 number again after moving my stuff out as quickly as I could on such short notice and was informed that the only possible way to receive a refund is if the space is vacated the same day as the rental. Jesse, as the 'manager' you need to train your crew. They are functionally scamming people by misinforming them and undermining all credibility of your property and parent company. To potential renters, I would avoid doing any business with this company as they can not be trusted and apparently lack any ability for reparation when they screw up. read more

Terrible public storage gave me a storage unit that the door was stuck I couldn't get into it it took a strong man to open and close the attendant said it would be fixed before I moved my stuff in .that didn't get done so I was not able to even get in my own storage .There sololution was I give them a key for a stranger to open my storage NO I said nor could they give me a date so I could be there while they where in my storage . There other sololution was move all my stuff to another unit NO to much this unit has a whole house stored in it and im 66 years old can't afford to hire some one to help Bottom line they shouldnt have given me a Broken unit in the first place they didnt give a crap read more

Cannot recommend: overpriced, insecure, mouse/rat problems. The gate/door is unreliable/broken at times, the property is next door to a grove of cotton trees and every time I opened my unit it was filled with cotton, I only had my unit for 1 month and when moving items out I discovered mouse poop all over as well as several items chewed through, and, finally, the houseless encampment that parallels the property has a constant flow of people in and out -- it was hard to tell who actually has permission on the property. This is the most public of public storages, it seems. Onsite managers are caught up in the craziness, badgering paying customers about where they are parking while others seem to be living in the lot without question. I only needed one month of storage but I do wish I had chosen a different location. I'm not sure if public storage is a company I will ever use in the future after this experience. read more

While the staff have always been friendly with me, the repeated and further reduction of available hours made it impossible for me to access the space when I most needed it. And, sadly, when I last was able to go in, I found my unit had been infested with rat droppings. :( It was a nightmare to clean up and sterilize, and all of my boxes now smell of rat urine. This location is horrible. The gate is always broken. The cameras don't work. Units are consistently being broken into. We had our unit broke into. The people who broke in had so much time to go through every single box and take everything they wanted. If they didn't take it they broke it. Super sketchy area of town. This place is a nightmare. When I originally rented a space it was clean and the staff was friendly. But something changed over the last 2 years. The staff is hostile and rude. There are homeless people living inside the fenced area... complete with over-stuffed shopping carts, barking dogs and the odors of urine, feces and vomit. I advise not going there during non-staffed hours and don't take your kids with you. Also, it's unclear whether or not our unit was burglarized. I can't get a straight answer from the staff but some things are missing and they padlocked it. In fairness to them it's possible the items were taken by another family member and/or stored elsewhere. But their hostility made me think they were not being honest with me. read more

Seems worth reviewing this place considering most of the reviews appear to be fake. First, Public Storage as a company is really frustrating. The cost for renting a unit goes up every year by at least $10. There is no customer service. None. You book a unit online, sign the paperwork before you show up, and basically someone gives you keys. From then on, you are on your own. If you try calling the 1-800 number, the automated system will give you the runaround. I pressed the number for "more options" and was never given the chance to talk to a live person. It just transferred me to the location and then the phone rang and rang until a machine picked up and said they were on the other line with someone. LIES! The place is creepy and dingy, like you'd expect from a storage unit in North Portland. I haven't had a working light bulb in my unit for at least a year and a half. You have to be there when someone (which I think there is only one employee) is on the clock so you can borrow the changer pole - oh and I think you have to provide your own light bulb. I love carrying around light bulbs. Seems like a wasted opportunity to appease your customers, Public Storage. Also, I have auto-pay setup because they are real sticklers about late payments. I don't remember exactly what kind of wiggle room they have, but I felt forced into signing up because I got dinged too many times with the late fees. They basically want to kick you out of your unit so they can rent it out at a higher price - check the website, you won't find a unit for the same price as what you are currently paying. This fear of losing a "good deal" keeps me from leaving for another storage place. So I have auto-pay setup and only visit my unit before sundown - now what? Can I store all my DVDs, Christmas crap, and box fans like an American now? read more

They've reduced hours you can access and increased rates, knowing full well that someone with a loaded space is unlikely to move to a competing location for half the price. Been broken into twice, and they took their time replacing the hasp for one of the break-ins and also, magically, didn't have security footage available for that time. read more

The sole staffer working was excellent- knowledgeable and friendly. she also recognized other users who were returning to pay bills or access their units. She was able to concisely give a run-down of both the positives and negatives of each available unit and was not afraid to do so, she was very honest in her appraisals and did not try to force us into a space that wasn't appropriate for our needs. Security seemed fine, accessibility was good. There are 2 concerns: 1. Several of the upstairs units have severely canted ceilings, which limits not only overall space but also wall space, and yet these were not given discounts against other units of the same floor measurements. 2. The flooring in the "barn" area, especially on the second floor, is old dodgy wood that has gaps between the planks and sometimes bows under bodyweight. both of which are concerning for storing anything that weighs....well anything. read more

Do not rent storage space from this place! My partner and I arrived for our appointment and were met by an employee with a bandana around his neck instead of a mask on his face. He periodically pulled it over his mouth (not nose!) and was overall incredibly unhelpful. The original unit he showed us was AWFUL. He told us another unit was available for a good price, but when he went to ring us up, the price suddenly increased by a lot! The absolute WORST part about my experience here was in the office. I got caught in between the employee (no mask) and another customer (no mask). This was unacceptable, put me at risk for exposure to COVID, and Public Storage did nothing about it- I had to remind the employee about the rule of only 1 customer inside at a time! Do yourself a massive favor and never step foot in this place. I feel so disgusted and appalled. read more

This is where we had our camp trailer stored for almost a year. We received a call from Public Storage staff on May 18th telling us our trailer had been broke into. They said they had tried to call us prior on, May 4th (two weeks earlier) however there is no record of the call on our phone. When we arrived on May 18th, to inspect our trailer we discovered that the majority of the other vehicles appeared like they had been gone through at one time or another. We returned the next morning and discovered two individuals on the premises both carrying heavy bags and backpacks. We called the police who responded. The individuals disappeared up the bike path. We returned a week later and discovered that our trailer had been broken into again, this time the thefts pried open the door breaking it. Then it looked like someone had used clear packing tape to tape it shut. I asked the girl up front if she had taped it closed and why no one had called us about this. Absolutely unresponsive to any of our concerns and just seem to blame the police. The police officer told me that if they will do nothing to fix their fence this will continue to happen. Shameful thing is Public Storage was renting to another person as I was picking up my trailer. I'm glad I saw him and showed him my trailer and the rest on the property. He backed out lucky for him but I wonder who else they will do this to. read more

This is a starless business. Zero is a gift, I had to choose​ one to submit. After discovering​ a series of leaks that resembled the effects of a shower head in our 10x30 unit, we were offered 10 free boxes and a free month of rent. Apparently,​ the roof had been repaired at some point during the summer and when (guess what)...rain started to pour, it was slightly​ better inside the unit than it was outside but no much. Three days before Christmas and everything that had meaning to us was​​ all very strategically​ packed in this unit for safekeeping​ was wet, molding and destroyed​. Public Storage nationwide has NO liability for anything including but not limited to; theft, damaged structures, fires, rodents, ​and break-ins​. We were treated with disregard​ and disdain​ when we asked for the roof to be repaired just for the purpose of moving out. The protocol for repair at this shithole includes a looonnnggg process of the manager (Tessa) contacting an approved contractor from an approved list and then waiting for someone to respond​ to schedule a time to come out and look and blah blah blah. The water continued to pour, none of the electrical outlets worked (shocker) for dehumidifiers or heaters while we removed our belongings in the rain. The free month and boxes were more than just a joke, they gave us neither. read more

This place is filthy and sketchy. The storage unit had holes on the door and the whole area wreaked like there was a dead body. If you have a storage unit on the second floor, good luck because the elevator doesn't work 80 percent of the time. On top of that, the customer service here sucks and they don't really reach out to you if there's a problem. I would pay extra to store my stuff someplace else. read more

If you are interested in renting out a storage space that is full of cockroaches, this is the place to go. A friend of mine rents here and has been renting a unit here for 2 plus years. She pays over 200 dollars for a spot that is full of cockroaches because Public Storage allows homeless people to live in their storage units. True story. The gate is not always shut, allowing people to walk or drive right in. Normally you would have to use a code to get in but they really do not care about the community nor do they care about their clients. There was a storage unit that was full of stolen bicycles at one point. Also after calling the regional manager about the cockroaches nothing was done, not even a month rent free for all the troubles. The manager said it was our responsibility to keep the storage unit cockroach free even though the homeless people were renting out the storage unit next to us. Do not rent here unless you want to bring cockroaches to your place of residence. As Anne M said on 7/27/16, this place truly is a nightmare. Nobody really cares. While we moved some stuff into a unit for 6 months, while having work done on our house. Setting up the account (with auto-pay) was confusing; their contracts and payment schedules are convoluted and not straightforward. From the get-go, I couldn't follow all the line item charges/discounts on the New Account Receipt, and once I had the guy working there explain it to me, we found errors. CHECK YOUR RECEIPT, and if you don't understand something, ASK! The real problems began when it came time to move out. There were some fuzzy calculations with the pro-rated 3 days before we vacated, which was small enough I was willing to let slide. But because we had Auto-Pay, they deducted the full month's rent for the month we moved out (after we vacated) and said the charges would be reversed. We waited. We called. We spoke to 3 different employees. We called and waited some more. We left messages (almost daily!) for the District Manager, Monica Craig, who NEVER called us back, for weeks. It took filing a report with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and threatening to take them to small claims court, to get the Regional Manager to reverse the charges. At that point, it was less about the money, and more about the fact that other hard working folks are probably swindled by this company, and don't have the time, perseverance or know-how to fight for the money that's owed to them. There is no question in my mind that they are taking advantage of other renters, and running a racket. read more

This facility rented me a unit over a year ago raised my rent with less than 30 notice, then shortened hours. I changed units to save money and they raised that unit too only a few months later. Both units were upstairs but there was an elevator that was always broken. We moved out today and the elevator was broke again but working an hour later. Not worth using again, stay away. read more

This place is extremely unsafe and dirty. I was there for 5 months and in that time i saw that the main security gate was broke for most of the time. Once you put in the security code, the motor that opened the gate was stripped out so you had to push the gate open manually. Once the gate is open it would not return closed because of the stripped motor. The gate would stay open all day. The employees park there cars just inside the gate so if you are bringing in/out a big uhaul truck it is a tight fig to go around the car. Most of the time there is an old broke down white bronco that is inside the gate (in the way) that leaks oil and fluid all over the ground. There is a big oil stain on the asphalt from it. Once inside the compound, there is mold, leaves rocks screws nails and dog poop on the ground. I lost track of how many screws and nails i picked up so i wouldn't get them in my tire. The space between the buildings never gets cleaned or picked up. The security doors to the individual buildings, would not shut properly. The doors were open all day and night. I saw 3 different doors like this. At one point the return spring that closed the door was broke so the door was wide open in the middle of winter and all night long. Once inside the building, you would see trash (tape, cigarettes, screws......ect) on the floor. The floors don't get swept on a regular basis. I had to clean my unit before i could move my stuff in. My opinion is to find another storage unit, even if its farther away and more expensive. read more

I have been renting there for a couple of years. The first year was just ok. The second year there was a big decline in this mediocre facility. 1. The "security" gate was always either broken or left open....so much for security. 2. I had a large crack on my units exterior wall that I could see outside through. It took months of asking for it to be repaired. 3. The door has a large opening at the top where it was improperly installed. They offered me a new unit...imagine moving 30' of stuff to another unit?? 4. A hole on the exterior wall has been there for 6 months.... yeah, their not fixing it. 5. The facility is riddled with homeless people. The police are there often. 6. I decided enough was enough and was moving out of the unit....which is how I found out about the COCKROACH infestation. You can not move anything into a new space without contaminating it with an active infestation. I have been complaining about the COCKROACHES SINCE LAST SUMMER. I spoke to just about everyone to no avail. At on point they told me that they went into my unit (with permission) and didn't find anything except a spider..... Uh, what!? They needed proof....Challenge accepted! I bough roach bombs at the local Fred Myers and set off 4 of them inside the unit. The next day I went back and roaches were everywhere! I grabbed an empty plastic bin that had a dozen or so dead in them and brought them to the office where I dumped them on their counter top! The manager freaked out. I brought him to my unit where he witnessed the dead roaches and even stepped on a still wiggling one.....STILL THEY REFUSED TO EXTERMINATE!!!!! They let homeless folks use the units as little crash pads but take no responsibility to ensure that the rest of the customers have clean, safe units. I have a few choices....A. keep paying rent in hopes that the roach situation will end B. take a chance and move the stuff to my home where I could infest my home with roaches C. give up my possessions I pay $228 a month for what amounts to a cockroach hotel. DO NOT RENT HERE! BETWEEN THE ROACHES, HOMELESS AND MAINTENANCE ISSUES, IT IS A NIGHTMARE!!!! read more

I feel he went beyond what is expected at a storage facility. For example, he helped me move my trailer into the space that I was renting. He was thorough and a provided excellent customer service. If I could give zero stars...My first experience with storing some extra stuff as I was selling my house and Public Storage was TERRIBLE! I reserved a unit online on a Friday evening. The property manager called me later that evening to confirm, but I missed the call. I called back and left a voicemail to confirm that I would be coming in the next day to move in. When I got there, less than 24 hours later, they had rented my unit to someone else. The manager offered me a larger unit for $50 more a month and said it was their last one. I took it because I needed to move my stuff out of my house. I contacted the district manager, with whom I was able to negotiate the price back down to the original unit cost. But every month, the invoice I received had the higher price. MULTIPLE REPEATED emails asking to correct the invoices ended up typically unanswered with me paying only the agreed upon amount and accruing late fees which then had to be waived (more emails!) and finally Public Storage notifying me that they were increasing my rent by $100 a month!! They said the contract is only month-to-month and they reassess the rent after a few months. WTF!!! I moved out and into a different storage facility for a fraction of what they were charging. Not to mention the unit they had us in had cracks in the concrete walls that allowed moisture in. I definitely will not be giving them any more business, ever. read more
