What a wild, terrible tale of dodged accountability, crime, and incompetence! In 2023, I rented a space to store my car trailer with Public Storage. The price was good- it was a Memorial Day special, and was about 40% less than other locations. At the time, I asked the staff at the location if the rate was likely to go up. They said it was not likely to go up for at least a year, since the annual increases had already happened. So I stored my trailer there and put several locks on it. A wheel lock, a hitch lock, and also a location tracker. Three months later, to my surprise, the price went up significantly to just above the price of nearby locations. Due to the hassle, I didn't move. I certainly should have. So much regret.... On January 6th of this year I got a call from the staff at Public Storage. Had I removed my car trailer? No, I replied. I hadn't. Why? It turns out, they had a very bad feeling about my missing trailer. According to the staff member, just before the holidays, an individual had come in and rented the smallest unit available. They took and verified their ID and took payment. Early the morning of Jan 1st, video showed the individual entering the complex with their PIN, and then leaving with my trailer. Sure enough, the location tracker showed a location other than Public Storage. Unfortunately, because they had taken 5 days to notice the crime, the location corresponded to the tracker in a dumpster. The staff at Public Storage explained that they were not in a position to make a police report, but that while I had to make the police report, they would not give me any of the information they had about the individual that had given them ID and had been seen leaving with the trailer. All I could fill out was a generic police report with as many specifics as I had, and many months later I haven't been contacted by the police. Even my insurance company can not get any information from Public Storage. Since the trailer had been stolen early January 1st, I asked Public Storage to refund me for the month of January. While they wouldn't help with anything else or reimburse me any further, they did agree to finalize the account with a 0-dollar balance. Not surprising, I now have "Cedar Business Services", a Las Vegas collections company, hounding my e-mail, phone, and mail for the rent for that January. Like any terrible collections company, they won't believe me that the balance is zero. Calling Public Storage, I found out that they never did refund the account. I also asked them to remove the collections. Their response? "We can't do anything about that other than show that the account is paid." What CAN the staff at Public Storage do? What are they ACTUALLY capable of? The only thing they seem to be capable of is raising the prices long before they said they would. Now I have a missing trailer and have to pay a lawyer to fix the collections issue. Conclusion?: You are going to spend less time and less money storing your things in a vacant field. read more

I love my unit and staff are great BUT.. I signed a contract in Feb. for $86.00 a month and now it is 115 a month. I live on my financial aid, I am a full time student, I am fully handicapped, I budgeted my bills precisely each month to maintain I can take care of myself properly. I am very responsible this way. Now , my unit is 30 more a month and everything I own is in it. I just moved here and do not have the money to keep from losing everything I own. I would never have chosen this place if I had known this would be happening to me. read more

The folks taking the initial reservations have zero knowledge of space between building (for moving things, or parking) height dimensions, etc. causing a reservation cancellation after we tried to move our small camping trailer. The "phone tree" for trying to talk with someone is frustrating, and often one waits for hours or days before a call-back. Once you manage to talk with someone, they are very helpful! read more

I moved my one bedroom apartment into a 10x15 outdoor storage unit about 10 years ago and at first when I moved in the rent was very reasonable at just about $100 a month. Unfortunately, Public Storage doesn't value customers who always pay their rent each month on time because as the years went on they kept increasing my rent until I finally decided to find a much nicer and extremely less expensive indoor, heated storage facility to stop all of the mold that had spread all over my clothes, books and upholstered furniture from being stored in an unheated unit. My final rent after 10 years of being a loyal customer had ballooned to an outrageous price of $641 a month for that very same 10x15 storage unit at Public Storage! I had many conversations with Public Storage over the years about all of my rent increases and they said rent increases were just a "normal" part of their business model. I would never recommend Public Storage to anybody knowing just how terrible their business practices are when it comes to excessive rent increases. $100 raised to $641 a month for rent on the exact same unit over 10 years time when I had never paid my monthly rent there late once is simply ludicrous and shameful. Steer clear of this horrible company! read more

I just opened a rental space in Portland after clearing out of a space in Northern California. I rented both places online. I have managed both with the app. Seamless experience. No human contact is needed, but human assistance is available during office hours. I am happy with the way PS handles things. read more

I would give no stars if I could. First we were late leaving one night and were put on restricted "business hours" talked with him and he was very rude. After we speaking to him about hours expectations I was supposed to be put back to normal hours and was not. Second our gate code never works. I always have to call for help. Then while making his rounds one day he made a snide comment to my husband asking him why he was being so sneaky. We had a bunch of boxes and totes out in the hall way and assured him we had nothing to hide. Uncalled for. Now he claims he has us on camera entering another unit and told us to leave. However he refuses to show us the footage. Nothing but trouble from this man. Hes the worst manager I have ever dealt with. My recommendation is to never set foot at this location. I've never been so disrespected in my life. read more

I don't want to give this place any stars!!! Watch out for this place!! I went to my storage unit last week and found that someone had broken into it! When I went to the office the sign said they would be back in about a 1/2. So I waited and called the police. While waiting a young man walked up and told me the property manager was on the property, he was in the back lot. When I walked back there to talk to him, when I called out to him, he mumble something and turned and started to walk away, so I called out again. This time he turned and flipped me off and then started walking away from me very fast... I was in shock! not only have my belongings been stolen, the property manager won't help me or even talk to me. Went back to me car, call Public Storage, this will be the 3rd time I've called by now and just keep getting the run around. Than a women shows up and she is mad at me for harassing her employee! Did not ask me what was wrong, why I was there or why I was calling ... she was just mad that she had to come down there and not mad at her employee but at me, blamed me for harassing her employee! When I was finally able to tell her my storage unit was broken into... didn't faze her. It was all she could do the walk down to it and look! she never once asked what was taken. I had to show her how the lock had been prided open. When I got back to my car she started yelling at me to leave, I told her I was waiting for the police, I had been waiting from the police for 4 hours by now! I finely left and on my way back to work got a call from the police saying that the property manager called 911 on me and said I was harassing them and would not leave !!!!! What a nightmare......... I believe this was an inside job, I believe the male property manager who flipped me off knew all along that someone got into my storage unit and that the women property manage who showed up know about it too. I have called Public Storage Corp offices and no one has returned my calls. Long story, I advise anyone who is thinking of using this public storage, don't. read more

While I have received mostly positive customer service at this location, Public Storage limited their hours to "working hours" starting December 1, 2017. In other words-- don't try to access your belongings when you get off of work, because your stuff is now hostage until the next day of business. Unless of course, you work 9-5 like a good portion of people do. And then of course you have an hour commute each way, also like most people. So now you're limited to the weekend to finally reach your things. It doesn't stop there! Just received notification that as of January 1, 2018, Public Storage will charge more money for less service! For me, it is $30 more dollars monthly, not sure the fee increase of others. Am I excited, you bet. I'm moving out, and I hope you do too! I would like Public Storage to feel the impact of their ridiculous service changes. read more

We put our lock on incorrectly and got it Stuck right as we had finished moving and were trying to head out of town. Went to the front desk and Robert kindly walked back with me and pried the lock loose for us. Couldn't have been more than 10 minutes altogether of a delay with his help. This is the 1st time I've used public storage and I did my application online. They texted me the info I needed for the gate, I also got the app which made it super easy. All I had to do when I got there was hit open gate in the app. They had a lock all ready for me in the storage unit. They made renting this unit as easy as it could get. I highly recommend public storage if you need a storage unit, they will make it so easy for you, you won't believe it. read more

Ashley, the property manager, is awful. She is rarely in the office and takes her time returning calls. She told me to come in on a Sunday to fix a problem with my unit's lock, and of course she was a no-show. When I entered my storage unit for the first time, with her, it was dark and difficult to see for loading my possessions into it. When I asked for a lightbulb to replace it, she told me to 'get my own.' Nearly a month later I asked her about it, and she still said she didn't have any. They get your money and then stop caring about professional customer service. read more

I have never had a storage rental experience with such helpful customer service! Carolyn, the manager, was so on top of every microdetail of the process that I fear she rents storage units while sleeping as well. Wonderful, friendly, accommodating. I was sad to say goodbye. Only gripe was I found the gate to be stuck open on a number of occasions, which leaves the place a trifle less secure than I would like, but I never felt like this was a huge problem. Let's just say that if I need a storage unit in Portland again I wouldn't even look anywhere else before going back. read more

We spoke a few times before I moved in, then again in person during the move, and a couple of times since, and she's always been extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgable. She loves to share cheesy jokes, which is always a pleasure. Carol gets 5 stars. The rest of this review is for the company, overall. Out of nowhere, my monthly rent just went up by about 15%, just because. Apparently, the company policy is to do that when people come in with low rates. I don't mean "introductory" rates, like the kind where they actually TELL you, up front, that your rate will go up from X to X+15% after a few months. This is just sneaky, bad business. If it weren't for the fact that I'm already moving out in the next few months, I would move out on principle. I can't stand this kind of shady business practice. The company gets 2 stars. I left a total of 4 stars because of Carol. She's the one who actually cares about the reviews. But it is important to note that, if not for her, I would have left a 2-star review. I mean, the place, itself, is adequate, so I can't just do a single star, but this nonsense about spontaneously raising my rates is unacceptable. I can understand a cost-of-living increase here and there, but 15% after 6 months is outrageous. I guess they figure that I'm not gonna do anything about it, given that paying an extra $20/month is likely far easier than the pain of moving all my shit across town. But this is a big company, with locations all over. I'm surprised that they would be so short-sighted. I guess they're used to operating in a world where Yelp! reviews don't exist. read more

We started renting here in May 2012 at the price of $68, April 2013 up to $76, then finally $102 in June 2015. Their main gate was not properly working from December 2014 to June 2015 and several times it was left open during business hours. Our storage locker was broken into, about $900+ in valuables was stolen, Police came out and did a report. Police officer even stated that other lockers were broken into on this property. No apology letter from the management or even an attempt on their part to watch video footage on the break-in. This place is horrible with only one video camera for the whole entire facility. Management doesn't give a crap. Avoid this place !!!! read more

Ripping me off out of nowhere. Light was out when i moved in and a piece of trash was in the unit. I looked past it for the good deal i was getting. Now 6 months later i got an email saying my rent is basically doubling by my next payment. I didn't get sympathy or an apology or anything. I would move out immediately if i didn't just finish moving all my stuff in. That's probably the plan. I would never choose this place if i knew i would be that screwed over and met with rude customer service after finding this out. I'm so upset because i hardly make enough to afford the old payment. Now i need to try to find a new place and deal with moving everything all over again :( read more

Pros: Great help from staff (Carolyn) getting in when we were in a pinch. Convenient drive-up. Cons: Not as secure as I would prefer (flimsy unit dividers and many gaps that offer an invitation to unwanted little intruders) and lacking sprinkler system for fire protection. They raised the price 20% after one year (with no added benefit). So much for customer loyalty. We vacated. read more

We had one of those Murphy's law moments where I had a small window of tie to get my stuff moved in before getting to work on time, and there was someone else moving in/out blocking access to my spot.
