Informed manager Jose that I would be moving out and stopped my autopay. He saw the movers emptying out our unit. Unfortunately our movers neglected to remove the lock. When the company did not receive payment on the 3rd of the following month, Jose called. I informed him we moved 2 weeks prior- as he witnessed. He said the move out isn't complete until lock removed. We removed the lock the very next day (6/4). Offered to pay the 4 days only, instead of the entire month. Jose said that was against policy. Heard nothing back after that until 10 weeks later when I received a letter from a debt collector. Shame on Public Storage for the bait and switch after 3 months doubling rates, for witnessing a move out but only calling to confirm after next month payment due, and for the inflexibility with prorating due to customer error. Spent over $15,000 with them. Trust me. Choose wisely. Go elsewhere.

Yes, this place is literally located on the street I live on, but that's not why. No, the truth is that I wanted to support this Public Storage spot because of the effort that was clearly put in to making it look great on the street. The facade on Mills (yes, right up to the street *the urban planning nerd in me squeals with delight!*) is actually very pretty, with faux second story windows and attractive trim. I mentioned it to the manager, Laura, and she said that they definitely made an effort to make it blend in with the pretty, ornate homes in the neighborhood. Remember- this is a storage place! I'm used to rows of ugly, one story, garage-looking buildings and here is a multi-story building, with rear parking, that takes the neighborhood design context into account. UM, am I dreaming?!? OK, I'll move on. Laura, whom I mentioned during my nerdy digression, was extremely friendly and made sure that I not only had a first-story unit, but that it was close to the front (I'm tiny and looked ridiculous carrying all of my boxes in). The only things to keep in mind are that 1- you are required to get insurance on the storage unit totaling a minimum of $11/month in addition to the rental rate, and 2- there's a 'merchandise' total of $19.16 added for the lock and key (I didn't realize that this would be an additional fee) and an admin fee of $23.43.

I'm very disappointed with this location. It seemed like a safe reasonable location until I…read morereceived a 34% increase on Friday May 2nd only six months into renting from them. On the same day as the increase at 11am I went to drop some items off at my unit and the motion light was off but I noticed the unit next to mine was open. When I got close to my unit the motion light went on and there was a guy sitting on the floor inside his unit in the dark rummaging through a suitcase and appearing to change his close. I put my items in my unit and left and then proceeded to call and notify the manager of the situation. They told me on Monday May 5th they are not evicting the person and offered to keep my monthly fee the same for one month. The manager Amanda called me on Monday and I told her that didn't seem like a reasonable concession ($17 concession) let alone I don't feel that allowing the person to continue to rent the unit is safe. I will likely need to move after my renovation project for safety reasons. I strongly suggest not renting from them. I am not comfortable visiting my unit even in the middle of the day.

The unit was loaded on January 9th in the morning, but the movers arrived unannounced, with no prior communication by phone or email. Literally woke me up knocking on my door. Since then, I have received no status updates, delivery information, or any meaningful communication from the company. When I called for information, I was told my items would arrive on Friday, January 23rd, and that I would receive a call regarding compensation for the delay. That call never came, and my container did not arrive as promised. I had to reach out again on Monday, January 26th, only to be told that my delivery might arrive on Tuesday, January 27th. As of now, I still haven't received my belongings, any updates, or communication from management to help resolve this issue. This entire experience has been frustrating, disappointing, and completely unprofessional. I feel taken advantage of by a company that seems to show no concern or accountability toward its customers. I do not recommend Zippy Shell to anyone looking for a trustworthy moving company -- they have caused immense stress and inconvenience without taking any responsibility.

Dan is very nice and so are the movers that came with him. I am remodeling the new house, so all the furniture was loaded into the garage. I noticed that several of my expensive pieces of furniture were pretty noticeably damaged due to the movers not wrapping them when they were moved. Fine, things happen. Tonight, MORE THAN A WEEK LATER, I finally get an invoice for SIGNIFICANTLY more than quoted. Please use caution with this company.
