I have been a customer of theirs for 21 years (yes, I am a hoarder!) I just completed moving 5 storage units to another facility because of their riddiculous overly aggressive price increases. They lure customers in with low rates and then begin raising rates at 18-29% increases every 6 months until the renter can no longer stand the pain. They don't care how long you have been a client and will keep jacking your rates until you finally bite the bullet and hire movers to get you away from them. I spent almost $3,000 getting out of there and will be ahead of the game in less than a year without the heartburn of dealing with them. They eliminated most of their site-based employees and now you talk to a kiosk. After they closed the office and inserted the kiosk, they locked the bathrooms. They don't care about the clients and their moving crews and the fact you must stop loading the truck and go offsite in search of a bathroom. They used tto have 4 moving carts for the clients use. Someone stole 2 of them and for months they didn't rep[lace them. Then, they removed more and took them to another facility. If the carts get a bad wheel, they leave it in that condition for months, if not years. This is a company that only cares about the bottom line and your money. It is one of the greediest and worst companies I have ever dealt with and I would never ever do business with them again. I would give my stuff away or burn it before I gave them a dime. A word to the wise - run from this comany and go elsewhere. Bigger is certainly not better in this case! At the time I left, my jacked up rates were about 44% above market rates. read more

we have had all of our furnishings in this facility for slightly over a year while we built our dream home. When we went to get our things out to move in we were crushed when we noticed that EVERYTHING in the unit was covered in mold! our mattresses, couches, pictures, kids toys were all ruined. The attendant in the office said how the company had someone pressure wash the building. The water somehow trickled down into SEVERAL units. We were never contacted and told that atleast 2 other individuals had the same water intrusion issue due the pressure washing fiasco. We had the insurance that the company offers which is maxed at $5k. One of our couches is $5k! They started the blame game and said the company who cleaned the building would be held liable. We tried to reach the manager and he dodged our calls. We went to regional to file a complaint and to talk to someone and still no call. So we are in limbo with a brand new house and no furniture. This company is trash and the management is as well. read more

if there was an option to give zero stars I would. there is no one that ever answers the phone there. the app access code hasn't worked in over a year. my rent has increased multiple times in the last 2 years without even letting me know. I never once got an email. I scheduled my move out date for 2/13 and they tried to tell me well too bad that I would be charged the entire month instead of prorating the rent and working with me. judson let me know my review will be meaningless because he has enough good reviews. the company only cares about money. Public Storage is a huge rip off. Rate increase of over $30 in less than 6 months and now we will be paying almost $400 for a unit smaller than the average bedroom. They lure you in with $1 first month when we ended up paying over $100 for the first month. False advertising like this should really be illegal. They don't tell you about overpriced mandatory "insurance" you have to purchase. How I wish I had picked a different storage facility or even PODS. Getting tired of only one dolly cart being available....if they are getting stolen, it should not be the client's inconvenience. Buy some more, they are not that expensive. This really reflects poorly on the management of this location. I also have a unit at Cube Smart and they have 5 dollys at all times available for their customers unless they are being used. My rent went up $20 or so within 7 months of my choosing this location. I can deal with it going up every 12....but after 7 is not good. The people are nice enough, but not empowered to make any real decisions. read more

The exterior units flood when it rains. The interior units are expensive 5x10' will cost over $100 per month. The gates were broken to leave the premises. When I signed up, I asked regarding how much notice to give. I was told the payment needed to be made by the 6th of the month, and also that I could cancel the account by the 6th. When trying to do this on the 3rd, they refused and are requiring payment for the entire month. The location is convenient. The elevators for the storage units are dirty. read more

Jeanette was the employee working at this office and she was very helpful as we needed to rent a space and did not know what size . She also explained how we could get into the space and with the codes onto the property . We are senior citizens and needed more help understanding but she made us feel there would be help there at the office if we needed more help later. Just got another unit again a month ago and again excellent service. Just down graded to a smaller unit today and they made the process simple and speedy, thwy even looked at what I had left and helped me choose the right size. Would think of going anywhere else. Beware wanna be renters, they will try to tell you that you have to buy the insurance in witch you do not. Also $21.39 for a cheap lock that you have to purchase, that is a little pricey. Read the lease! Rate can change at any time! Yes, it's a clean and secure facility, but however, once they get you in the door they fail to tell you that just after a couple months they will increase your monthly rent. Mine went up to almost $50 just after almost 6 months. Because that seems practical said no one ever. Fortunately, I refuse to put up with that sort of scam and able to move out of there, where I plan to be a long term tenant. Their loss! When you first go in to rent a unit, Rudy the manager, is all too nice and ingratiating. Always pushing to get you to write a nice review about his performance. But if you go back for customer service, lookout. We had purchased a mattress cover, and rented two units. We are in the process of renovating our house. And when we figured out that we did not need the mattress covers, we attempted to return them. At first, Rudy told me that he could not aacept a return without a receipt. I explained that it is in your computer, this is a computer generated receipt. He said that's company policy. So I was forced to go home and search through boxes to look for the receipt. The next day I returned and Rudy wasn't there. The woman behind the counter said that she cannot except a return over 30 days but that Rudy the manager has the ability to override. The next day, now my third trip to return $20 worth of mattress covers, Rudy said I told you there are no returns after 30 days. Actually, the only thing Rudy told us was to please write a nice review. Never did he mention no returns after 30 days. The package was unopened and I had the receipt. There was no reason to be treated this way. If this is their policy then I suggest you buy your packing supplies at Home Depot where they will gladly take the returns. And one more thing. When you need to unload your possessions into your unit, they only ever have two wheeled carts available for the entire complex. I suggest you take your business elsewhere. read more

Just rented this past week and chose this location online. Upon arrival Thad was very courteous and professional; however, that $1 first month's rent? I was told it is "on select units" which of course, mine was not one of them. And the first month's processing/setup fee. Overall, a bit pricey without that discount $154 for a Med 10x10. Heard afterwards from a family member it was much cheaper near their home. Oh well, live and learn, right? It is a clean unit and facility. read more

My husband and I first called to inquire about getting a unit. We spoke to a very nice and pleasant gentleman, Judson, and went in person to see the units and prices. We really liked him, made a reservation and told him we would get back to him as we had to confirm with our movers on date. My husband went during his lunch break some days after and spoke to Thad who quoted him a higher price despite the fact the price had expired the day before. We were told the prices vary daily. My husband could not reach me and didn't want to make an unilateral decision as we had agreed on a price that was comfortable for us. Thad made a very sexist and insensitive comment to him which was a very low pressure tactic by saying if I got mad at my husband for agreeing to the new higher price, I would get over it. You will never hear such a comment from Judson as he was a true gentleman and knows what customer service really is. He could have easily made a new reservation to lock in the new price and waited for us to talk about it. This was not a matter of life and death that we had to sign immediately and he should have respected the budget we were in. I called him to ask him to cancel the reservation and he told me I had to talk to the district manager to have him made that decision. I did find a lower priced unit 5 minutes from there at another Public Storage and asked if they would match the price, but he would not hear it. We went in together with the contract and he could not have been more rude, condescending and unfriendly if he had tried. Maybe he has something against women or Hispanics. My husband explained the situation again and he got the district manager on the phone to request a refund. Thad already knew we had a reservation down the street as he told him so. I tried to tell him to ask if they would match the price, we would stay there to which he motioned to me to stop talking and did not relate the message. The manager agreed to refund and cancel our contract. We went to the new place and the manager greeted us with a 'the gentleman from the other place already called me to tell me what happened'. We would have been happy to rent from them, there was no need to use pressure tactics to get a contract signed that very minute. They make reservations all the time. The place is clean and conveniently located. We found the new place very welcoming, understanding, clean, professional and accessible. read more

Public storage has easy access right off Tampa Rd. Security rivals Ft. Knox, access code to get through main locked gate , good lighting and security cameras keep careful watch over your unit. Rudy, the silver tongued Polak,gave us the tour of the facility and explained what our storage needs would be and even sold me a plastic sofa cover and we don't have a sofa, but I can return it unopened in 30 days for a refund. I'm not sure if that applies to the storage unit itself but we already opened it anyway. The facility appears clean and a safe secure place to store our family heirlooms. read more
