A police report was filed. During the investigation, law enforcement was informed that there was no camera coverage for the area where my unit was located and no surveillance footage of the theft. This was particularly concerning because there were two visible cameras positioned along my row, which contributed to my belief that the area was under surveillance. I chose to rent here, because their website states advanced, multi-layered security using AI-powered video surveillance monitored around the clock by a dedicated security team using Dragonfruit AI technology. When I contacted Otter Storage Management, Chad Lewis, COO, responded in writing: "While our website does advertise our security solutions, there is no guarantee made about cameras facing every unit in the facility." Insurance paid the full policy limit, but I still suffered losses involving property permitted under the rental agreement. I have since learned of additional thefts reported at this location, which is why I feel people need to be warned. If you're considering renting here, ask whether cameras actually cover your specific building, row, and unit area and whether that area is recorded. Do not assume advertised surveillance means the area where your belongings are stored is actually covered. I wish I had known to ask these questions before renting here. I am sharing my experience so other people can make an informed decision and hopefully avoid going through what we have.
