We are retired seniors and this is our 6th home move. It is not our first rodeo in selling a home and moving. Originally as we were moving out of state, we tried one of the national moving companies which we will never do again. As everything is only done over the phone. They wanted half of the quote money up front, did not even have half of our belongings listed and the CU (cubic units) was short, about 1,000 cu. Plus, other issues we will not mention. We felt they lacked proper communication and dealings were not professional from our standpoint. My husband contacted "VALLEY CUSTOM MOVERS" from Nampa, ID and we cannot say enough great things about them. Corey is one of the owners. came to our home and physically walked through and listed everything with us. He listened, answered all our questions and always personally returned all our calls after were gave him the job. Yes, their quote was right on, matched everything we wanted moved and the quote was a very great price for what we needed. His crew did complete packing, loading and storing all belongings in their warehouse until we have a new home out of state. On our job we had 1 owner & 5 crew members and each one of them were very efficient in what they were doing. They each knew what needed to be done. The packing of our home (1,900+ sq ft) home was completed in about 5 hours. The next day it only took them about 2 hours + to load 2 trucks and take our belongings to their warehouse. My husband was thrilled with their professionalism, quality of work and how they each asked questions. To be sure that what was being moved would go into the trucks and items that needed to be left. They are like a one shop move with the same crew packing, loading, storing and delivering our belongings to our new home and setting up all our furniture. They all get an A+ rating from us from Tara in the office to Corey and the other owners and all their crew. read more

If you moving to Idaho from CA read this. We received several quotes. Most were large Van lines that take multiple moves to fill a truck. Some even charge for shuttle service between where the storage is set to the final move destination. Valley moving brought two trucks from ID to CA. It was only our move. The guys communicated well. Cory came out to take a look at what I was moving so he could provide an estimate. He was super accurate in estimating the time it would take his movers to do the job. In fact, they finished roughly 30 minutes early. They were super clear about what was included and not included in the estimate. There were no surprises. I just helped a family member, whom she was trying to get out of a bad divorce situation. I contacted Valley Custom Moving and also asked ahead of time to not tell the ex-husband where she is moving to. The two gentlemen from Valley Custom Moving were very professional, and help her pack up everything, and even when the ex-husband was rude to both her and the two moving guys, and kept asking where they are moving to, the two guys played cool and were protective of her. I wish I could have given them "5" stars (I had used them before and had a great experience). However, this time it was anything but.... Because I was moving all the way to Florida I used, (to save money and at Corey's suggestion), ABF freight for the transportion of my goods. I hired VCM to pack and load the ABF trailer. Let me just say that when the trailer was opened in Florida I completely "lost it". Both the boxes and furniture were "all over the place". Obviously nothing had been strapped down properly. As a result, I have lots of damaged furnture. Besides not being strapped in properly the furniture was also not properly protected/wrapped with blankets. Now this last part they are blaming on me because when they arrived they said they had "no blankets" and that if I wanted them to go get them they would cost (I think) $30. a piece. I asked if they could use the numerous blankets and towels that I had for protection and was told "Yes". That wasn't done! My numerous blankets and towels were in several boxes by themselves! Also, on my walk thru inspection I found several cabinets that still had items in them!! Bottom line...if they needed more supplies to do the job correctly then they should have made sure I had them. Several items were "thrown" into boxes with no wrapping/protection whatsovever (like bathroom items in with my lamp shade...now ruined). As if it couldn't get any worse, when I spoke to the owner (Corey) he only deflected and tried to blame the moving company in Florida (and me) for the damage. And now to add "insult to injury", I have tried (unsuccessfully) for '3' weeks to get an insurance claim form from him. I have waited the '3' weeks to write this review in the hope that they would acknowledge their mistakes and file my claim to provide me compenstation for the damages. I am a business owner myself and this is NO WAY to run a business!! read more

Did a long distance move recently and had these guys recommended to me - California to Idaho. They were so on it! The checklist they sent really helped me prepare, they showed up on time, got things done super fast, communicated clearly as to what to expect and met all expectations. Valley Custom does not disappoint. They moved us up here about 2 years ago and did such an EPIC job then, when we needed help moving back into our house this month, we didn't even shop around. Just one call and they were on schedule. They always show up professionally early (not like hours early, like 10 mins early). They treated our stuff like it was theirs. 3 dudes showed up (not Austin, though) and worked non-stop until they were done. I would hire Valley Custom Moving again and would recommend them to anyone who needs a great moving company. Austin, Wayne and Trent were great. We moved 3 family members from 1 rental into 2 homes. The price was fair, especially for the extra effort it took. All movers were very friendly, cooperative and willing to work hard. I was so impressed that I will be hiring this company for all my furniture and equipment moves in the future. Only one mistake was made. I have a pottery kiln. One of the movers draped the power cord inside the kiln and closed the lid. Once moved they opened the kiln to remove the power cord and discovered that doing so broke one of the walls inside the kiln. So my tip is, do not put the power cord inside a kiln when moving. It's an expensive lesson so please pass it on to anyone moving a kiln. The mover was extremely apologetic. read more
