This place is a huge scam, we have been renting from them for over a year, every month my storage bill keeps increasing without notice. My latest bill was $270 for 10x 20 when we started it was $162 my second unit a 10x30 went from $180 to $360 again without notice, ridiculous we will be moving out very shortly. read more

CHECK the police reports on this location. Over 180 calls to Milwaukee police regarding theft and break ins. This place is not secure at all. See a previous post that mentions this facility. Back in 2017 I stored all of my personal belongings. Couch, mattress, TV, dresser...an entire truckload of stuff. All of this was stolen over 3 days along with ~20 other units broken into... I wonder how so much could be stolen and no one noticing? Nobody ever seemed to notice a large truck going in and out of the complex during broad daylight for days... A police report was filed, the manager Amanda claims that the locks they sell you don't work and that security cameras are not on during they day (would have been nice to know from the start). They also do not change the key code entry. Management also had a key to open the unit, in retrospect stupid to trust the person at the front desk. (See previous posters comment on this) perhaps an inside job? If you rent from here insist on using your own locks, don't trust the one management sells you. Also take out extra insurance because the unit can simply be pried open. Look at Milwaukee police records before you rent here. read more

We had a pretty good experience with this Public Storage location. Keep in mind, we rented for just a few months while we moved into our new house and sold the old one. The first month is usually discounted, though you'll have to buy a lock and insurance. The good: *People in the office - so nice and helpful *Availability of packing supplies at competitive prices - boxes, tape, wrapping paper, etc *Overall, a no-hassle experience *No issues with mold or water inside the unit Needs improving: *The code boxes for entry/exit require you to get out of the car - that's really inconvenient *The entry/exit is narrow, so if someone is entering and you're leaving it can be a bit of a mess *Because they're right on 84th the parking lot is tiny and again if more than one person is getting in/out it's not good Most of the issues with PS have to do with location which they can't do much about - I'd rate a decent place to store your crap for a few months. read more

My wife and I just bought a new house and we are in the process of selling our existing house. The problem is that we have been accumulating shit together now for almost 20 years and I needed to find somewhere to stash this shit while we are showing our house. I can't let the general public know that I'm a hoarder now, can I? Hence the need for a storage unit. The only reason I choose Public Storage was that it was the closest one to my house. I assume they are all the same. I rented a 5 x 15 unit with a door facing the outside of the building. I am paying about $120/month including insurance. Yes, that's required. It seems like a lot of money for a very little space, but because it should only be for a few months, I had to go with it. It turns out that it was just the right amount of space. Being a Jedi Master at Tetris, I made use of every cubic inch of space. The good: 1. Office personal Amanda was friendly, professional, and helpful. She drove me out to my locker to make sure it would suffice before we signed the papers. 2. They sell boxes as cheap as any place in the Internet. 3. Good location. 4. You can pay your monthly bill on-line. 5. You have until the 7th of the month to clear out. The bad: 1. They charge you about $20 for a lock that only works in their facilities. No returns. 2. You have to get out of your vehicle to access the gate keypad. 3. It's pricy. I'm guessing most people have more invested in their storage space than the crap being stored is worth. 4. They require you to pay 11/month for a measly $3K of insurance. The weird: 1. There is this hoarder couple who rents one of the big units. Their space is completely filled with shit. You couldn't fit one more baseball card in this place. Everyday they come here and sit in front of their unit on lawn chairs like they were hanging out in their backyard. I can only imagine what their actual backyard looks like. read more

At first made us buy a lock, then they CUT our lock to put on new style-so lost money on lock. Had to pay for insurance. Items had rat poison on when we got them out and major water damage. Collectibles and family treasures were moldy-even plastic kids toys were growing mold. Bins of books and clothes were full of mold. I had an entire classroom of books and teaching materials and all my kids' things plus a bunch of household as we packed to stage our house. Their lousy insurance for the damage was a major hassle-company out of state, and didnt even cover a fraction of what we lost. One of my co-workers warned me that her things smelled like mildew, but I went there anyway and now we're out a ton of stuff-even a little tikes racecar bed. Plus,everything had a layer of dirt on it that didnt come off. Worse than a leaky, musty basement! read more

This is my first time renting a storage unit so I don't have much to compare it to but I can compare it to how a business should be run. The front office help was very pleasant, jovial, enjoyable to be around. Rhonda made it clear that there were many ways to pay, she calls and reminds before payment is due, emails before payment due and even calls slightly after the due date to avoid being charged a late fee. The storage lockers aren't glamorous things so don't go storing precious jewels or nice clothes in them. I plan on keeping my mattress/box frame and couch in bags. Like any steel, outside structure, I'm a little leery of water damage so no boxes of books or anything will be on the floor. I have a lot of Rubbermaid bins so that's a plus :) Parking is a bit of a pain, as is access to the gate. I've been told it's extremely easy to transfer from unit to unit so that's a plus. Downsides: administrative fee is pretty high, you have to buy a lock and you have to purchase insurance. Overall, it was a good experience. I didn't have high expectations for a storage facility so I would we this met and slightly exceeded them. read more

This was my first time renting out a spot there. Good thing I took insurance. Some of my stuff got takin out of my storage unit. They pride open the metal bar that was next to the lock. Now thinking about it it's a very crappy set up. Price Rates changing and also they opened at certain time they close too early. I have to wait until the weekend to go to my storage because I work the hours that their open to close. when I got the storage the hours were 6am until 9pm the hours change from that to 9:30am to 6pm on weekends closing at 5pm, like really if I'm paying 209 dollars for storage I should be able to go in and out I was very disappointed. I told the lady at the front desk i wasnr HAPPY about the service she said well people come and go. I was so upset i took all my lawn service equipment out. read more

Getting a storage unit under sad circumstances is really hard but Wendy took care of me from the beginning. She made the process so easy and made me laugh throughout the whole encounter. I found the customer service at my West Allis, WI location to be GREAT and easy, efficient. The facility seems well maintained and clean, the rep was really nice to deal with and she was professional. One thing that is a bit odd to me is that the company isn't set up to send its renters payment reminders through email or text-this would have lead to a 5-star rating from me. Ultimately not their problem if you forget to pay, but in this day and age it just makes sense-not to mention, most people just forget and the items stored are very important to them. I was 4 days late (slipped my mind this month) on payment and went to pay and had a 'warning' of auction on my account and didn't realize it. Its great to have this type of storage service out there, but I definitely look forward to not needing it. read more

Not even half a star. We've rented from other places and had much better experiences. First they had a bait and switch offer that magically was not available for the particular unit we needed. Second after describing everything we would be storing the manager recommended and rented us a unit that was too small thus we had to shift everything to a different unit and pay even more. Finally when we tried to discuss it the manager was extremely rude and blatantly lied. She said we had never described all those contents. We tried to bring it to the regional manager who was incredibly non responsive. A horrible Experience. They need customer Service training to be sure. Rent somewhere else read more

Amanda was easy to work with and very efficient. 10x10 unit is good size for our needs. Very basic - unheated, metal box - but price is reasonable. They offer automatic payment for convenience. Con - Entrance area is small, so may be difficult if several renters are trying to get through gate at the same time. Also, the keypad for the gate is situated so you have to get out of your car to access it. read more

I stored my belongings there for less than 6 months. In that short period of time, despite using a heavy duty, cylinder lock, I was robbed. The manager insists on having a key to lock so there is little doubt in my mind who is responsible for the robbery. Then they proceeded to jack up the rental price, making this storage unit more expensive than other rental units in the area. Don't waste your time...find a more secure location. read more

DO NOT STORE YOUR THINGS HERE! There are much better options in the area with a competitive price and much better storage conditions and security. My brother and I had been hearing that people had been having difficulties storing their stuff here because things were going missing. We still decided to rent a space, but we decided to get an inside storage space and got an industrial grade lock thinking that would add some security. Not even a week after we put ours (and our mother's) stuff in there, it was broken into and robbed. Not even a week had passed. When my brother tried talking to the woman at the front, she was immediately defensive and was more concerned about liability and protecting Public Storage instead of just answering the questions my brother had so he could try and figure out what happened and what to do. She was at the point of gaslighting him and was beyond disrespectful to him and my mother when she showed up; it was insane. When the police finally arrived, they also didn't take it that seriously after talking to the woman at the front, and they heavily implied that my brother was somehow involved in the theft of his own property. Beyond it only being a few days, it was also slightly sketchy because you need TWO codes to get to the space: one to enter Public Storage and one to access the inside space. That is what made me suspect that perhaps there was some internal participation. There are also apparently no cameras protecting any of your things almost anywhere on the property. They also refused to give him a refund even though it had been FIVE DAYS since we moved our stuff in. Either way, I cannot give a lower recommendation and I would tell anyone considering storing their stuff there TO AVOID AT ALL COSTS and anyone who currently stores something there TO CHECK ON YOUR STUFF, and I recommend changing storage locations as soon as possible. read more

First time I've ever rented a storage unit. The sign up was easy. I rented an outdoor accessible unit; it needs a lightbulb and there are no lights on the exterior of the building to help out-a little off-putting You're given an access code that opens the gates from 6AM to 9PM seven days a week. The associates are nice and helpful. My minor complaints: The keypad to the gate isn't situated so you can access it from your car, you must put your car in park hop out and enter the code. I recently had my storage unit broken into. Upon speaking to management, they didn't seem to care. When I talked management about calling police, they actually tried to discourage me from calling the police. I then found out they don't have any cameras in the buildings, so no chance of seeing who did it. When I spoke to police and asked them about this place, they stated they respond to unit break-ins all the time here. read more
