AWFUL. First There was mold on our stuff. A power outage for several days without notice and then 3 months later we get a mild notice a cleaning team going through all of your securely wrapped items without putting it back. And the things they did wipe down had mold grow. Thanks for nothing. Secondly, the short-term incentive is nothing to the outrageous price increases you pay. There's nothing that justifies the prices now-- you may as well get a studio apartment at these rates. The toilettes barely flush ( gross), the elevators are a safety hazard, and I witnessed the staff mosey around without a bother to even straighten out the carts. Beware the SCAM! They will reel you in with attractive prices and then a couple of months into storage will increase the price drastically. (30%+). It happened to me and it has happened to many (just read Social Networks) They are so abusive that the manager even asks you to rate them on the onboarding date when everything is still a honeymoon. I am forced to liquidate my assets to stop rentals as it has now become more expensive for me to pay storage than to simply move out. You should avoid it altogether or look for a more ethical vendor. No wonder "Texas Storage Auctions" are famous! with practices like this they basically "steal" your stuff and force you out or will liquidate for themselves. And of course if you stop paying you go into Credit Bureau. You loose anyhow. They know that people cannot simply move "out" as they are in storage for a reason. so when they unilaterally increase price at any time it's simply blackmail, extorsion, fraud, ilegitimate practices, whatever you want to call it. I call it hostile takeover, or you can just call it "Public Storage". Stay away... In my experience it cost me a fortune as I will have to sell my stuff for peanuts in order to stop paying such hefty rents. And when I finally return I will have to buy all over again. Wiser to sell before you store or to force them into a custom contract (yeah right) that will respect price & dates. Very expensive lesson. read more

Don't make a payment late, the late fees and additional amount in rent adds up fast and they don't care if you loose all your stuff by it being auctioned off and that it devastated your life! I rented a unit on a spring special and when I went to move in my husband noticed how far it was from the elevator. I went to the office to ask if there was a closer one before we put our stuff in and they said there was one a bit closer for a small convenience fee of moving. But I asked if it was the same price and they said yes. But guess what? My spring special was not honored in the move! There were a couple of people who tried to get it approved but apparently they don't care about their word or the customers satisfaction. Don't rent here. First, they force you to use the auto pay feature. If not they call you and ask why you dont allow them direct access to your bank account. Then, they added a $50 lockout "deposit" if you're late paying rent! Presuming this is in retaliation for not allowing bank access! Then, they raise storage fees at will despite not providing any additional services, only a phone app to open the gate. The app sucks! It glitches and will not work unless you try it 5 damn times! Second time trying g to speak to property agent. And no one is on site during their normal business hours. Front doors locked to rental office and phone numbers take you to a never ending automated system with no customer service or live operator option. After less than six months rate increased so we emptied it and are attempting to cancel. Not an option in the automated system and online person to help. positive: Staff have been great over the last 1.5 years- they've been very helpful, professional, and polite. negative: Due to frequent price increases, we decided to stop renting the small unit. We retrieved all our items and found a lot of mold on our items (they did not have mold on them when we took them to storage) !! We were sad to have to throw away several items (suitcase, bins, our extra large duffle bags, etc.). Every time I went to the unit, the temp. was 82 degrees in the building. Just be cautious that your items may grow mold while in storage. read more

I figured during a national state of emergency, certain fees and a bit of grace would be applied. Not only was I threatened with auction the first day my payment was late, right after I paid half my payment (which is all I have considering I can't work) they sent me a lien notice informing me they would be selling my belongings at auction. I was charged multiple late fees all in one week time which doubled my already large rent payment since they are not helping people during this time. I will be contacting the news and other media outlets to go After this terrible corporation who's using this state of emergency for their own gain. What's worse is taking belongings from struggling families instead of giving grace periods or something...anything to help during this time! I have rented space here for nearly 18 months with no issue. They just DOUBLED my rent. It rose from $39 to $77. That's ridiculous. No opportunity to negotiate, you are just at their mercy. I fully understand increases happen, but to DOUBLE? My bill comes in with standard rate $57 PLUS "discount" $18. Funny how that's been my actual discount reducing the standard rate. Sounds like shady business practices to me. Beware of crappy business policies if you intend on renting long term. read more

In just 14 months Public Storage has raised their rent on us (with little notice) not once but TWICE - to be specific, we started at about $75/month last May 2020 and if we were continuing with them into July 2021 it would be at about $115/month. Insane. Not to mention that they snuck required insurance into our monthly cost, so even the $75 we started with was unexpected. They also advertised one free month at the beginning of our rental and the hidden fees and costs literally added up to that one month, so basically no free month, which was very frustrating. At the very least don't count on what you see advertised by them; budget way above what you think you will pay. Pretty sure they are just out to make a buck. read more

This place is clean and well kept. But watch out for extra charges. They stick you with insurance. You tell them you don't want it. They say OK, but don't tell you they can't remove it without signature. So you keep getting charged. And late fees on that. Also late fees cost more than storeroom. Even during all that's going on. This is one of the greedy corporations that need to disappear when this lock down is over. It's just about grabbing all the money they can, even if they lose customers. When we showed up at one facility that a Public Storage owns, Kirsten was on duty and listened to our situation and suggested we use the public storage facility up the block. She sure did point us in the right direction - upon arrival we spoke with the manager Sandra and she helped us get the exact unit we needed and a extremely reasonable price. As I waited I was pleasantly surprised by how personable she was with them. When they left she went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. I just signed up so I have not experienced the increase of rent yet like the other reviews suggest. The staff is really friendly and the place is clean, but they have a ton of hidden fees. I was promised a first months rent of $25 for a 5x10 unit with my first month being $1 and the admin fee being $24. I was not told that I would have to pay for a $21 lock and insurance. The cheapest insurance is $11/month. My first months rent ended up being $67 instead of the $25 I was promised. I would not have chosen this facility if I knew all of the costs up front. read more

I was late w this months payment and received a final notice to pay by today. I have this in writing in my email. I went to pay my bill today and they sold my unit yesterday for $650. I have paid about $11,000 over the last 9 years since my mother died to store these items. I have cried all day. My deceased mother's possession were in there as well as my grandkids baby pictures and other family heirlooms, nothing of any monitary value at all. I spoke w management and they refused to let me pay my bill. I get that I was late, but I was going by the information they provided me as the final date, I only received my paycheck today, had I known they would do this I would have asked someone to spot me a hundred bucks for 24 hours. read more

Well, I was happy with our 10x20 unit at first & rented a 2nd 10x10 unit the following month. Then the problems began. My codes failed to work & even the manager's codes could not access & open the doors. Another customer came & their code worked, so we were able to get items moved into storage. The problem was that I left my unit unlocked while I went out to get 1 more load from the van. The door got shut & the couple which had code that worked, were inside their unit for nearly an hour. Another customer showed up & she could not get her code to work either. The manager that left told me to call the number on the gate if I needed any assistance, so I did. The person on phone told us we were SOL & that they would not send manager out during non-office hours to help us. Finally the couple inside, walked back out yo their car, & about 9PM that night, I was finally able to get back to my unit, put my last load in, & safely lock it for the night! The elevator & front doors were opening & closing like a haunted house. I live an hour away. I will now only plan on going to storage unit during office hours. I went today to find both doors locked open, do assuming they have not fixed the code/door issues with quite a few customers. I opened my unit (climate controlled) to find mold all over my furniture! I have immune system issues & am very upset. There is NO excuse for this! read more

I'm 90 yrs old and rented a climate controlled unit to put my belongs in because I moved in with my son and daughter in law. We went to check on things 5 mos later and EVERYTHING is mildewed because of improper ventilation. Public Storage is doing nothing to resolve issue! Don't use them! read more
