My experience started out rocky, however Anne in customer service at the location patiently explained to me policy and available storage. The telephone representative was not helpful or accurate, Anne did an excellent job! Thank you Regina 26533 read more

Bait and switch - they get you in at a decent rate then jack it up substantially with time to the point it's unaffordable. Good paying clients should not be treated this way. read more

Please Beware that rental insurance does not cover water damage and or mold! I am so disappointed with Public Storage and Allstate regarding my rental insurance! I moved out my unit 10x30 and once we were placing the boxes and items in my place, and some of the boxes look like they got wet. And once I open some of the boxes there was mold on several items! I had to throw my queen size mattress out, sheets, mattress protector, comforter, some pictures, George Forman grill, coffee maker, hand soap, plates, cups, bowls and utensils! Rather or not insurance is involved, the company should take accountability for all the money I was paying monthly in the amount of $408.50. And water had to be entering the unit via rain and also moisture. I have had items in storage before and have never experienced this type of damage. How does this type of damage fall on the customer? Water should not enter a storage unit!! If you have to put items in storage, I would suggest you have the items in a inside-inclosed storage unit! It will be worth the money because you will not have to worry about water and or mold! And the financial stress of having to replace some of your items! If anyone has any suggestions and or advice, please reach out to me, thank you! read more

After being here for several years paying an outrageous price, that continuously climbs year by year, it's not in operating order and when things malfunction, they don't call someone in for weeks at a time for repairs. For example, when the gate breaks/stuck open the public has ACCESS to the property that causes SAFETY issues! They do NOT care!!!!!! The ladies in the office are straight up rude regardless of how kind you are to them they will still treat you very nasty. All I ask is that they adjust my climate controlled storage unit to a comfortable temperature so that I didn't pass out from a health condition ( my body doesn't regulate temperature ) only to overhear the lady giving someone else a tour of a unit as she made fun of our conversation. Of course, my heart sunk as I listened and after that for the next 6 years, the unit is has always cranked up to where I can't even breathe. I can only assume this is out of spite because the other levels thermostat is set to a comfortable setting. And NO I'm NOT a bad customer, as my rent is never been late. My next vent: They've installed motion sensor lighting....so when you're inside of your storage unit they all of a sudden they turn off because you're not in the " hallway "!!!! Sooooo, when you're all the way in the back of my storage unit ( on crutches- completely non-weight-bearing ) the lights shut off you are in complete darkness tripping and falling, trying to find my way to the hallway for the light to come back on. Looks as if the company is trying to cut cost, so how about at least supply your customers with the bare essentials they pay for. ‍Or lower your prices instead of charging MORE and giving LESS. I've paid close to $300 a month for over six years so acquiring a suitable temperature and lighting isn't asking too much. Yep, this review has been a long time coming. *My point is be kind, don't poke fun if someone's health condition, do your job, and lose the attitude. read more

Public Storage - Paying EXTRA for climate control because of a health condition and 82° is too HOT! - Self Storage Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

The personnel at Public Storage has been helpful over the years. But that's the only positive thing. Public storage rates are ridiculously high compared to other local companies. We were paying almost $300/month due to constant rate increases....that's double of other companies. They raise their rates with no cap which an employee confirmed can be up to twice a year! Apparently corporate tells their employees that if a customer questions the rates they can offer to move to a smaller unit or move out. Great customer service policy Public Storage! Take your storage needs elsewhere!! read more

Registered online and set to move in on 6/1. We drove over, unfortunately after office hours, to begin our move. Nope! The access code would not work at the gate. There is no way to get someone to assist since after hours. Fuming!! If these BIG companies think that all this technology is suppose to make things better and faster...NOT!! So another day will be wasted going on 6/2 as the office opens. Will see what actual people can do since technology gives out invalid gate codes. read more

I just rented with them Sunday. I have no opinion yet BUT im irritated with the 25 "admin" fee . What is it for? I did everything online.......once I've rented for a few months ill have a more solid opinion/review. So far, only complaint is that "admin" fee. read more

I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a storage solution. I booked everything online and didn't have to go in the office at all. It was a super easy process. The area is safe and clean. read more

I'm so highly disappointed in this property. It should be noted that when I rented my storage unit, the property was owned by Cardinal -- who was wonderful -- before ownership was recently transferred to Public Storage in April of this year. When I signed my lease with Cardinal, they informed me that when it was time to move out, they would need 30 days notice and rent would be prorated for the days used in the move-out month. Pretty standard operating procedures -- provide sufficient notice and pay for the days you use. With this thought in mind, and knowing no differently since Public Storage didn't supply any sort of NEW requirements upon their takeover, I informed the property two weeks ago that I would be vacating the premises on August 7, 2016, thus providing more than 30 days notice. I was shortly informed that I would still be charged a FULL month's rent if I didn't vacate the premises by August 6, 2016. The reasoning being that late charges are accessed on the 6th of each month. Of course this makes no sense, since there are no late fees as I am provided a full month and half notice of vacancy, so I except to only be charged from the 1st through the 7th. So, what's happening is PS is charging a full month's rent, even though I am departing on the 7th, only to turn around and re-rent the property on the 8th for another full-month's rent. Double-dipping at its finest. I had to remove my payment from AutoPay as I don't trust this property to not unwittingly dip into my account. I'm not quite sure how an entity can get away with such shady business practices, but I am highly disappointed. Cardinal was the epitome of professionalism and PS is certainly not holding up the banner Cardinal previously provided -- especially to customer's that signed a lease with the expectation that common courtesy would be provided. In addition, the property gates were locked for a few hours on last Saturday and several individuals were locked behind the gates of the property with no way of exiting -- while several others were prevented from entering (including myself) and racking up charges from moving companies because the time went on and on and on and on . . . There was never an apology issued. Never even a recognition of the inconvenience. Stay far, far away from this property at all costs. read more

Do NOT use this facility. The initial check in was bad enough but ending the contract was even worse. When I went to pick up my lock and close the account (after renting for a year) I was able to access the gate - it opened quickly. But, when I was leaving, despite how many times I used my code (my account was still open) the gate would not open. I called the facility over a dozen times and not only would they not answer, the 800 number would not answer. I went back into the building (again, using my code without issue) and knocked on the door (that opens to their office) and they would not answer the door. I finally called the Gahanna Police for assistance but they told me that that location was actually in Columbus. Finally, over 30 minutes later, another customer opened the gate for me. I went to the office and told them what had occurred - they did not apologize nor would they reimburse Nov. 2022 rent even tho it had just be paid and our storage room had been empty for quite some time. I talked to a manager - it was a waste of time. They said that they did not answer the door or phone because they were in a meeting - being locked behind large gates is very upsetting. This company does not care. I drove around trying to find a way to exit the property - what i ran into was a large dumping area of customers items that apparently had not paid their rent or left items. We paid - we had an automatic withdrawal every month. Avoid this business - I would never rent from Public Storage - anywhere. I called corporate - they did not call back - NOT ONE EMPLOYEE/MANAGER/CORPORATE said they would look into the broken gate issue. I rarely if ever leave ratings - but this business does not know how to run a facility or maintain the property. read more

This review replaces my prior. Mary and Lisa were wonderful in expediting a transfer of units for me this last week. Though I reserved online, know that you do have to work with the front desk and keep them informed, and they need appointments. Pro-ration appears to differ for move-ins, move-outs,and transfers, so check to protect yourself. A transfer appears to need to be made within one day. Hope this helps. read more

Looked online and saw their prices. Called the number listed and was told that the online pricing would be honored and they'd have the property manager call. I told them I didn't need it until the following weekend. No problem. So about 10 minutes later she called. Wanted me to come look at it. We went over and looked. Ok. It's 10 x 10. Nothing spectacular. I said I'd take it. The 1st month was $1. Plus I HAD to get it right then. She had very few left! Not what I was told in the phone. Now comes the fun part. I HAD to buy their lock ($22) and HAD to buy the insurance ($15 a month). Also they refused to honor online price so it's an extra $10. What was supposed to cost$65 a month is now 75 plus the insurance. Now it's $90 plus tax. Sounds like false advertising to me. A week later someone called to see if I was satisfied with their service. Ummmm no? It's costing more than advertised plus there NO security camera. If I was broken into how do I prove it? The lady assured me that she'd talk to the district manager and someone would call within a couple days. Yep. Sure they will. It's been almost 2 weeks and no call yet. Not impressed with them at all. Probably will go back and my stuff will be gone. lol especially after they see this review. read more

Don't use Public Storage. They only give u a month's notice and they increase your rent 25%. I can't afford to pay 285.00 a month for a one car garage. My apt charges 90.00. You figure out how the owner became a Billionaire. If you are late they are going to charge 50.00. Please please please boycott this terrible company! read more

On move in day the code to the gate did not work, but we did not realize this until we were trying to leave. (Another car was leaving as we entered code to enter) Our car and the uhaul was stuck for over 30 min behind the gate. The office was closed for another hour (during normal business hours) which caused us an additional day of rental on the truck since we were unable to return on time. Stood in the rain on hold for 25 min for customer service to reset my code. I only gave two stars due to the prompt response of the rep once I was finally able to speak to someone. Now we are being charged extra for the rental, on top of a terrible move in experience. read more

I wish I would have read their reviews first before renting. I don't normally rent storage units but since I was moving I needed to store some stuff I didn't want the movers to take, just for a 30 day period. I saw their prices online- which would be about $68. Then when I called they said it would be half off because of a special they were running. The email I recieved stated it would be $68 total move in price. The day I got there the door was locked at my appointment time. Lisa came and opened the door and stated I was early and she needed to finish her lunch. So....I stood there while she finished her lunch. Then she just hands me the locks and tells me how to get to the unit and gives me a brief description on how to put the lock in. I go to the unit and it was a little more complicated than I expected. She made it sound really easy but once again...I've never rented a unit and I had no idea how to work this thing, but after about 10 mins I figured it out. Then I get back up front and she says my total is $107!!! I asked why it was so much higher than she quoted me and she stated well we have all these fees and insurance you have to pay! Well...that was a little bit misleading and her attitude wasn't helping the situation. But...I needed it and I was already there so....but NEVER again will I use this place. read more

I don't know that I've ever written a bad review. But sadly, I will today. I made a reservation an experienced a glitch on the public storage website. When I came back to it the next day, the price increased $12 a month. Okay. Not happy but that's life. When I arrived, the first unit was not acceptable but I agreed to the second unit despite the fact the unit was not clean of fall leaves and the area outside the unit was not cleaned of the leaves which means I need to keep a broom handy. Once I started to complete the paperwork, I found out there was a charge of $20 plus tax for a lock that is only usable at their facilities and we could not use our own locks. That was not included in the reservation confirmation nor was it mentioned when the manager called to confirm my reservation. Next they tried to force me into paying for insurance when I have homeowners insurance. The final disappointment was when they wanted to charge me more for the unit than agreed on the reservation confirmation they sent me. Come on. They put the monthly price in writing. In my book this is all very dishonest. I'll pay more to work with people I can trust. read more

Customer service is non-existent. Moved out of the place on July 27th, and closed it out online. No one told me (and it was not in my contract) that I needed to go to the central office to close out the unit. August 8th rolls around and I get a bill from them plus a $50 late fee. When I went to visit the unit they would not budge on the issue informing me that it was my fault for not coming to inform them that the unit was empty. I then asked if I could have my price reduced so I didn't have to pay for ALL of August since it still was only August 10th. She told me that there was nothing she could do. So basically I owe them $200 just because I didn't do ONE thing that is not even listed in my contract. The kicker in all of this was that since I opened the unit on June 15th I was informed that I had until August 15th to vacate and pay. However, on their website it states that you have to pay on the first of the month. So there is also a giant disconnect between what they tell you and what their actual policies are. read more

Anne was absolutely great today! She got me in and out. My unit is clean and I got it at the wonderful rate. It makes me happy to know you can still recive good customer service and pay very little( this is almost nonexistent). I will definitely recommend public storage to my friends and family. read more
