Do NOT rent with Oublic Storage. Rat infested. And the mandatory insurance is worthless. We had rat infestation in one of our units. We rat urine and feces all over EVERYTHING. I informed the manager, who said only the insurance could do anything. I filed a claim and just got an email back saying the MAX that they would pay was $250. That's less than the cost of the unit. read more

My storage unit was broken into and robbed of a lot of my stuff. I'm still in the process of filling an insurance claim and police report. When I called corporate for public storage I was told by a very rude Supervisor the customers "Pay for storage not security." My original post was deleted a few times on Facebook. Aaron and Ethan both are very friendly and very helpful and very patient with answering all of your questions. Ethan showed me the spaces to rent and was very nice and very patient in signing up and answering questions and Aaron went out of his way a lot!! He even helped clean up a few stains and more and answered any questions and checked to see if I was alright with all that he did. What can I say ?! DO NOT RENT HERE - THEY WILL KEEP BILLING YOU FOREVER. Just atrocious customer service. I made the mistake of renting a unit here, then realized a couple of days later before my move-in date that I needed climate control so I wanted to change units within Public Storage. No biggie, right? It has been IMPOSSIBLE to cancel or switch my original unit much less get a refund for the space I never used or accepted. I have called numerous times and Public Storage has refused to ever call me back or cancel my account and has continued to bill me for my unused space that I have told them 10+ times to cancel. I would *never* rent from Public Storage again. Use LifeStorage, they have better rates and better service!! read more

It held my stuff. Front office each time I went no one was there. I rented for two months, I saw garbage on the ground a couple occasions. I saw someone doing laundry in the gated area, not out front but inside the gated area. I've seen a couple homeless walk out as I was coming in. Not a safe place to hold your valuables, or anything I would think. Make sure you don't get the unit near the doors for the multilevel unit or else you'll never get to your unit. Cars parked in front daily. Now, I vacated on July 1st. 1 day into July. So I paid $225 for a 1 day use of a storage unit that I moved out of. The online chat people for Public storage just stoped talking to me. The person on the phone can care less. Customer service doesn't exist here. Not far from here are some decent storage units that I suggest you check out. Good luck in storing your stuff. read more

If I could put 0, I would do it. This is the most non-professional company I've ever seen. The reviews write that there are friendly, helpful and nice managers here. Believe me, that's not true. You can't do anything until you pay for their services. That is, buy first and then do whatever you want. If you want to see the room - buy it first. If you want to see how convenient it will be for you to climb the stairs and carry things - buy it first. If you want to make sure that the inside is clean and the roof does not leak - buy it first. Absolutely boorish communication. And no, manager non-respectful and extremely rude. (I know she doesn't agree with me, also she doesn't care) They just haven't heard. The manager as a robot repeated that "we are an online company and you can do everything in the app". She couldn't stop saying it. She didn't answer my questions because she's not interested and doesn't care. She hung up because it's too difficult to do her job.There is no worker in the office either. read more

Honestly public storage is the shadiest place to put your belongings. That $1 for the first month is a trap. Your rates will go up randomly. They don't open the office during business hours, and will not call you back until after they sell your belongings and then act like returning your call is them doing you a favor. You should go to Horn Road Storage. It's about 20 minutes away, but the people who work there are so nice and personable. It's way cleaner, and I've never showed up there for over an hour and not been able to talk to someone who works there. I had a unit at Horn road storage and never found bugs in my things like I did at public storage. It's also much cleaner than public storage. read more

I am very thankful that I was able to store my belongings for over a year. Not particularly happy about the price being jacked up by close to 20% midway into my year. I am even less happy (read extremely ticked off) that Public Storage does not prorate. You pay for the entire month. If you are not out prior to the 1st of the month, you pay through the end of the month....even if you are out on the 1st or 2nd. SCAM! This is for the storage facility at 7719 Fair Oaks Blvd in Carmichael, CA. Customer service is lacking as well at this site. Went in to ask where their carts (they have two) were. I was told to "Go find them, they are in the hall somewhere). No offer to assist, and definitely not a pleasant attitude. I also found an open unit that it appears was being used by a homeless person (see photo), and this is NOT my unit. Nice to know that the manager is keeping track of things. read more

Wow. Just wow. 1. Quality: If you're storing something here make sure it's not valuable. The buildings are old with lots of drafts and dirt blowing through. The units aren't sealed. 2. No customer restroom: If you do decide to use this storage facility use the restroom before you get on the property. Despite being a paying customer you will be told there is no public restroom. There's a restroom behind the office with a door opening to the driveway but I guess being a paying customer doesn't give you access, and you will be told ina rude manner. 3. Customer service: If there's a "lady" (and I use that term loosely) behind the counter named Tramia, run for the hills! She is not only condescending in tone, she has no respect for the customers (who pay her salary). She comes for you like one of the housewives of Atlanta, being bossy and demanding things under false pretenses (a vehicle in a driveway is not a fire hazard on a building accessible from all 4 sides. She was smoking when we arrived and she was smoking when we left, both times locking the office preventing customers from doing business. And when approached asking when she was done with her break she got rude & said she was calling the sheriff because she was being harassed! Something is seriously wrong with this person. read more

There is a brochure called "Becoming a storage expert" on the desk in each P.S office, well after today I feel a little more like a storage expert. I visited 3, yes 3 Public Storage businesses all within walking distance of my apartment. Each quoted me a different price on a 5x5 unit. This location had the best price however, the unit was upstairs! What a pain in the arse it would be to move a queen size 20" deep double pillow top mattress & box springs upstairs! Each location did quote me on other P.S units/locations but how lame is it, that this company pretty much monopolizes the storage unit market here. Mary Lou, the property manager was friendly enough and the prices for mattress covers and the like were good but I found a better price through Carmichael Mini Storage. read more

I went to public storage to rent a storage unit, I picked a miserable day to do it. The rain was coming in sideways, i was pretty wet and cold. Then I walked into the PS office and met one of the nicest people I've ever met. Her name was Toni and what a breath of fresh air. First of all she had the office nice and warm, and with all the negative things going on around us she never said a word that wasn't positive. She had to walk in rain quite a ways and it didn't phase her. So thank you Toni for a wonderful storage experience. Keep up the good work. read more

This facility is clean. I like the fact that there is wide drive ways. The 2 story storage has a big working elevator. Management is very nice and professional. Gate code so I feel more secure leaving my items at this storage. Overall this has been the best storage I have used. The price range is comparable to others. read more

Sierra was so very helpful! I came in as she was leaving in her car but had just run back in to get something when I approached her about my lock. I had accidentally not properly locked my unit and they had put another lock over it to make sure nothing happened until I could get over to my unit. She was already off the clock, but came with me to my unit and helped me with my lock. Thanks Sierra for being so kind and helpful. I've had my crap here for over 6 years and after many price raises have finally cleaned it out today. I've always had helpful people the few times I've gone in but today Tramia or Tamia whatever her name is was extremely rude! Her customer services skills are non existent! In the morning I didn't realize the office wasn't open yet and instead of acknowledging I was pulling on the door she just stared at me! I finally knocked and she shouted back WE OPEN AT 930! I couldn't hear her very well so then she screamed IM ON A CONFERENCE CALL!!! Finally when my unit was cleaned out I went back in to inform the witch and just simply said "ok" with barely any eye contact. I asked if she needed to know who I am and very rudely she responded "I saw you key out". Is that something I should have known? No! Just got done renting a 5 x 10 unit and Samantha was a HUGE help. She was extremely friendly and chipper, walked us to our unit and made sure it was a good size for my family, plus she provided us a padlock for the unit, and insurance at a very reasonable price! All in all, Samantha made the experience extremely easy and stress free and I'll definitely be recommending this unit to any of my friends that need a storage unit. I rented from public storage once befote about 8yrs ago while waiting on my apartment. The storage facility was clean nice and maintained cool, rodent free, spider free, well lit halls and grounds. Mia the manager was very friendly, Overly accommodating... she seen that i was disabled offered me seating, water and offered to run back and place my lock on my unit for me because i can't walk far or for long periods of time. My daughter rented a storage unit from another competitors company and she couldn't access her unit only the hours 9-5 Mon-Fri.and Saturdays 9 to 6p.m. Cobbwebbs, spiders, hot, dusty. The people were nice but there units wasn't worth it but Public Storage that she went to was full so she had to take something but i wouldn't take that. I would've called to find another Public storage close to that area. That's also another thing about Public Storage many convenient locations and accessible hours. read more
