Public Storage is one of the worst places to rent a storage unit from. Being the storage giant that they are, they don't care about the clients at all. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone I know. Once you get in, it becomes a money grab for them. They go up on the rent for the units every few months. And its not a small amount. It goes up $30+ every time. You can go from paying $85 to almost $200 within a year to year and a half. I would suggest going to one of the smaller companies if you're unsure of how long you will be in there. read more

All the long fluorescent light bulbs have been out in my unit since I began renting (over 8 months). I always have to bring a flashlight. I've requested them from the office twice. They never respond back. They say they "write it down" but nothing ever happens. I'm not sure what the staff in the office actually do. Such an awful experience! After driving all night from Louisiana I get here to find the unit I reserved had a lock on it. I went to the front office to see a sign on the door that said no one was going to be in the office today and to call to a different location. That location told me that they couldn't do anything about it because all the units were rented out so I'm coming out of pocket now to find another storage unit since this Public Storage location stole my money. read more

I went to rent a space at this facility. (Public Storage 1506 Howell Mill Rd.) The manager Jacqueline "assisted" me in proceeding to acquire a storage unit. Jacqueline understood I was very interested in knowing what the costs of the storage unit I was considering were. We spoke about the cost for easily ten minutes. Jacqueline even made me aware rates could possibly increase every six months. I didn't have to have the space at the time I entered the facility and I made Jacqueline aware of this fact. Jacqueline demonstrated extremely unethical\dirty business practices when dealing with me. We go over the numbers and I decide to go ahead and purchase a space. The literal second I swipe my card Jacqueline puts her head down in shame and says, "And there is a $29.00 non refundable fee." I looked at her in shock. $29.00 is not much money but what shocked and disgusted me was we spent easily ten minutes going over what I thought were all the costs for the unit and this unethical being kept that information from me. Literally the second I swiped my card she then says, "Slyly trying to make her voice sound like everything was simply routine when she knew she had done me dirty, "And there is a non refundable $29.00 fee." I immediately stated, "Why didn't you tell me this when we were discussing the costs??? You kept this from me." Jacqueline simply kept her head down and stated numerous times, "The fee is non refundable. The fee is non refundable." I never asked her if the fee was refundable. I asked her why she didn't tell me about this non refundable fee when we were discussing the cost of the unit. Jacqueline knew she had conned me so she simply wouldn't answer the question. She just kept saying, "The fee is non refundable. The fee is non refundable" with her head down because she was being exposed for the dirty deed she had performed. I told her had I been made aware of this non refundable fee prior to swiping my card I still would have done so. The money wasn't the issue. The issue is Jacqueline demonstrated dirty ethics. Jacqueline wanted to make sure the deal went through in order to keep her numbers up so she simply neglected to tell me about this non refundable fee because she thought I possibly might wait to rent the space at a later time. Jacqueline's dirty ethics continued however after this misdeed. At Public Storage the managers are supposed to inform the customers one can either buy one of their locks or use their own. I had my own lock which I had planned to use. Jacqueline never followed Public Storage policy by making me aware I can use my own lock rather she simply charged my credit card a lock fee in order to make an even bigger sale for the company which makes her look good. Only after I had made my payment did she then tell me about the lock fee to which I then told her I have my own lock which warranted a refund of this fee. Jacqueline's ethics are poor. Her behavior was extremely dirty and calculated. I tried to move past her dirty ethics and keep the storage unit but decided the next day I simply couldn't. I then canceled the storage arrangement and took my belongings out. I couldn't be reminded of Jacqueline's dirty ethics every time I visit the space. I had planned to keep my belongings in storage for at least 7 years however I could never do this knowing how dirty Jacqueline had treated me when signing me up. Lastly, she rushed me through the signing of the contract in which the hidden non refundable fee was present so I wouldn't see it. Jacqueline's ethics in my dealing with her were extremely dirty. I would never rent at this location because of the manager Jacqueline's poor ethics. I would stay away from this place so long as the mentioned manager is in place. The front desk staff should be paid more because they are awesome. They are friendly respectful professional and capable. The facility was clean, the dolly was very helpful and by the third day of moving they had just received a shipment of two more dollies. success breeds success. The area seemed extremely secure requiring code to get onto the property, utilize the elevator and finally a passcode to exit the property. Camera coverage of all areas improve security. Reasonably priced. The only improvement would be for those who have impaired mobility may have difficulties entering and exiting the door with the unusually high step. It would be beneficial to those with mobility or orthopedic issues to have a ramp instead of that big step it would also ease the movement of the dolly is in an out of the office area. read more

I choose to book my building online at 11pm at night. It was easy to navigate the website and I was immediately texted with all my personal information and gate codes. The next morning when I arrives Remedy , the property manager met me at the unit with all the information, went back over it throughly and the insurance paper work as well. Gave my my lock and key and navigated me around the property. She had wonderful customer service , gave me the times they were open and was very helpful. This place is a money pit. I have had two units here- first being the biggest and the locks were cut off of it, the lights never worked in it, the doors to the building never locked they're all mangled cause someone ran into them and the gate near that door- maybe fifty feet, you can roll right under. The unit PRICE WENT UP FIFTY DOLLARS EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS they never called, or emailed just went up fifty bucks constantly to where they wanted me to be paying $600 a month!!!! Just moved out yesterday. Had three units here and two were full of rat feces and urine. There is a rat infestation at this facility and the Atlanta Board of Health has given them 30 days to clean it up or they will shut it down. I have also spoken to Atlanta Police Officer Boyd who is monitoring the situation and Councilwoman Waites. The news channels have been reporting on this and crazy enough Public Storage is still renting out units. DO NOT RENT here there is a RAT INFESTATION! read more

When I moved in, Melissa was very friendly, professional and helpful. She took time to give me a full tour to help me familiarize myself with the facility. She was thorough in explaining all details of the contract and insurance requirements and made sure she had answered all my questions. That was good, but what just happened recently makes me wish I could give Melissa a six star review. A few days ago Melissa called me to inform me my unit was not properly locked. This was a real problem, as I had just moved out of state! I asked her to confirm and without hesitation or complaint she hung up, went to double check the unit and called me back to confirm it was my unit. Since I was out of state, Melissa and I worked out a plan where I would overnight her my key, she would properly lock it and then she would mail the key back to me. Melissa even took the time to take pictures of the inside of my unit and texted them to me from her personal phone so I could virtually see inside my unit to make sure nothing had been disturbed. She also sent me a picture of the return envelope to ensure she had all my information written out correctly. A few things became apparent during this process. First, it seems like property managers like Melissa lack vital resources from corporate. Melissa had no access to outgoing email, which is why she sent me the pictures via her personal phone. She also has no postage allowance--Melissa paid for the postage out of her own pocket! Imagine, Public Storage HQ, what a go-getter like Melissa would do for her customers if she had more resources! Please give her what she needs to run her business like she would like. And while you're at it, how about a bonus? She deserves it! read more

Was told when I rented the unit that a full size moving truck would have no problems getting in/out of the facility. This is false. Additionally, I had several hundred dollars worth of electronics stolen from my unit, only to be informed that the insurance on my unit didn't cover "mysterious disappearances", because the lock was intact on the unit. Additionally, most of the furniture I had in the unit suffered significant water damage during it's 18 months in a basement unit. Would not/will not ever recommend this facility for storage. read more

The services is okay, but the rent on these is ridiculous, they go up every single year. I am in the controlled climate part of the building but because I am on the end there are bugs and a vine from the outside grows in my unit due to a split in the wall. There are much better public storage facilities near this one, I would not use this one. read more

Only 3 carts are available (and were all reserved) for carrying items from your vehicle to your unit. We had to carry by hand. Last summer, the air conditioning went out. There was no communication to renters and not sure how long it lasted. We only know because we happened to stop by one day and it was sweltering hot. Also, the elevator security does not work - you can get to any floor with your code. We have rented there for many years - quality goes down and prices go up every year! read more

I don't usually take the time to write online reviews, but in this case I feel I must, as I can't say enough good things about my experience at this Public Storage. I was in a situation about 1 1/2 years ago where I had to move out of town and sell my condo under very difficult circumstances. When the condo was getting ready to close, I had to come back to Atlanta and get all of my stuff out and into storage, which I had never done before. The weekend I was to do this, I became very ill with the flu but still had to do the move. Needless to say, I was stressed and not really thinking too clearly. Jacqueline Young was so helpful, patient, and professional. She made getting the unit very easy and went out of her way to make sure I had everything I needed. Several months later, I came back to get some stuff out of the unit and put the lock back on incorrectly so that it was not really locked. She called me immediately. This is when I learned that she checks every unit in the morning when she gets there and in the evening before she leaves. Because I was in my new city and not able to come there to rectify the situation, she arranged to have the lock cut off and a new one put on so that my stuff would be secure. Just a few weeks ago, I came to move a lot of stuff out and and I wanted to move the rest of it into a smaller unit. Again, Jacqueline could not have been more helpful. I hope that her boss reads this, as he or she should be extremely proud to have an employee as professional, conscientious, and competent as she is -- and I highly recommend that if you are looking for storage, this is the place you should use.
