"Trusted since 1972" their perpetually-closed office proudly proclaims. I'm leaving this review because we were finally able to move our belongings out of storage and into our new home. Originally when we'd moved from Texas to Minnesota, I'd planned to occasionally stop by our storage unit in order to grab seasonal/holiday decor and such. However, I quickly found that I did not want to go through that hassle, because lemme tell you, it's a HUGE hassle. First off, requiring you to have an app on your phone just to open the main gate. And the door to your building. And on top of that, you gotta have the keys for your individual unit. The app doesn't function properly, always crashing and leaving you stranded like a dunce. The one time I did come by for Halloween stuff in October, I couldn't even get the app to open the door. I had to take advantage of someone else leaving. And of course, there was NO employees at the front office around to help me out either. This was also the case for when we moved our stuff out, which we did across two weekends. On neither occasion were there any employees anywhere to be found. It sure must be nice to rake in hella cash from renters without even having to staff your establishment. The first day we came by to move out, we discovered we'd misplaced our key. So we called in, only to be told no one could come out to help us and to expect a call back within 72 hours. Pretty unhelpful when you're trying to move THAT DAY. We ended up turning our apartment inside out and thankfully did eventually locate the storage unit key, so we were able to come back and do our load- allbeit a much later than expected load, considering all the time lost and no help from the company we were spending $120/mo. to. By the way, no one ever called back within those 72 hours, so it's a good thing we didn't need them to fulfill that promise either. Speaking of costs, there were other geographically closer storage units to our apartment, but we chose this one based on the pricing, around $100/mo. for a 10x10x10 ft, which was one of the best rates we could locate. So of course, within a mere month of being there paying rent, they increased the price by 20%. Jerks. Also, do be aware that for leaving, they request a week's notice. (This is likely a ploy to get one last month's rent out of you, in the case that you decide to leave close to your renewal date but don't realize there's a week's notice for literally no reason.) My husband was able to figure out some way to do the process via the app or online to circumvent the "required" week, and was able to close out the account that day instead. Oh and the asphalt leveling is ATROCIOUS here. If you have a truck with a ramp, GOOD LUCK finding any stretch of pavement that's level to load or offload. I've drug these guys through the mud with good reason with this review, but it remains a two-star because our stuff at least was stored safely the year+ we were there. No theft, no damage, etc. We didn't go for temperature controlled, but it seems that there wasn't too severe of variation in temperature despite the Minnesota winters. So yes, your stuff will be safe here. To me, that just seems like the bare minimum of what you'd expect from a storage unit rental place though. read more

They raise storage rent 50%+ per year after a year. They buy out mom and pop storage places for a monopoly then jack up rates til you're paying more per square foot than a manhattan penthouse. We call this in English a SCAM. PERFECT ANTITRUST LAWSUIT. Where is Ellison?! read more

Sold me their insurance policy (illegally, as you are required by law to be licensed to sell insurance in MN, later found out the kid was not). Then had a ton of rain and I went to get something from my unit. Upon arrival I noticed there was about an inch of standing water in the entire building. When I opened my unit everything was soaked, total loss. There was water pooling on top of things (as the water was running down the back wall of the unit from the roof) and I took photos. When I submitted the claim to the insurance provider I was told there was no water damage. Come to find out, this has happened to a lot of people at various Public Storage locations. BEWARE, and don't buy their scam insurance. read more

I never write reviews but this place really deserves 5 stars and should be told to everyone! I have always had to have a storage unit and have moved from Atlanta to New York to MN and back around again. This Public Storage is THE absolute Best! It's ALWAYS super, super clean. It's easy to manuever vehicles or trucks around and in a great location. The main reason this place is run so well is because of Rich. He is AMAZING! He was so helpful the whole time I had storage here. He always makes sure the place is clean and that everyone is taken care of. I now have family members who keep storage units here year round mainly because of Rich and his warm and welcoming attitude. He makes you feel like family! Thank you Public Storage and RICH! read more

Rented a large space in a pinch when my mother passed away to store all of her stuff we had to rapidly move out of her apartment. Renting and how-to instruction by on-site personnel was first rate and easy to follow. Now, four months later, we finally have everything cleared out of there and closed the storage account smoothly and easily, thanks to sunny and smiley customer service and timely assistance by Nickie! read more

Wow nothing as expected. When I went on line the cost appeared to be 1 dollar plus 20 dollars administration fee in indoor climate controlled building and then 35 per month following that start up. I had some odds and ends that were cluttering my office so I though I could store them there and write them off as business expense and just pick up the extra supplies when I needed them.....GREAT DEAL BUT WHEN I got to the business the climate controlled areas were all gone which was not stated in the hold on line but I could work around that. THe receptionist said I would need a ground cover but I had a tarp in my car so again no big deal. Less happy but OK but then the lock that is on the unit has to be purchased right does not come with the unit and you cannot purchase it at home depot or something for less!!!. And then I was told that I had to sign a sheet to insure my items. I said I did not want to insure them but I was told I had to insure them. I was given a sheet to sign that said they were not libel for damage but that insured my items for 11.00 per month additional. The sheet clearly stated that I did not have to purchase the insurance but the operator said I had to have some proof of insurance or purchase their insurance. I tore up the contract and left the total cost they wanted to rent a $1.00 the first month unit was 65.00 and would have been 46 per month after unless they found some other way to tack on more costs. I do not understand how they can get away with this scam.....I feel sorry for the people who have no other options than store. I just will clutter up my garage at home but at least it will be at no cost....What a RIP OFF1 read more
