This was a pleasant surprise for a pub. Very friendly atmosphere so u can enjoy with friends or a family. I went there with a buddy on Friday night around 8 pm and tables were mostly full but we were able to get a seat right away. The staff all wore masks but none of the patrons wore masks. This is around the time when IL was improving with Covid dur to more vaccinations plus people were eating so I expected this. Background music was Top 40 kind of music but not too loud so u can hear and converse without yelling. Pub was clean and looked newer. Our waitress was attentive and kept our drinks refilled. I ordered the brisket sandwich which was very tasty. They have their own smoker and the brisket was in a lightly buttered toast bread...it looked so good and was so yummy I forgot to take a picture for this yelp review but I'll come back! I upgraded to sweet potato fries and it was also very good. It had a cinnamon sugar sweet to it. I did not drink alcohol but my friend said they had a decent collection of beers and he liked his beer but I can't speak to it. Prices weren't bad. Definitely will go back! read more

Found on Yelp!, lived up to its star rating! We tried the poutine (pictured) - made with their beer battered fries, yum! Burgers - Kobe beef on a brioche bun - excellent. And cheesecake egg rolls (pictured). Kelly, our server, was very attentive without being smothering & made the whole experience that much better. The only negative was that the beers were so large (16 oz) that I couldn't finish it. An 8 or 10 Oz option would have been perfect. Overall it was a very positive experience. I really like this place a lot. In this area there are not a lot of casual restaurants with an upscale menu and drinks that are consistently good. We've eaten here probably 15x and the food and service are always consistent. They have fantastic drink specials and interesting dinner specials. This place really shines on the beer selection. They have a TON on tap, and each brew is poured the way it should be. The temperatures are always right and the serving crew is really friendly. Food is consistently good here. I'd call it "a step up from bar food". They have good BBQ, pizza, sandwiches, and soups. I'm not a huge fan of the salad here but everything else has been great. The pizza special on Wednesday night is good, too. Overall, a 4-star kind of place. I come in here regularly and will continue to do so. Good food, good drinks, great prices. read more

I've been going to put 56 for several years and despite the Covid impact I think they've done a good job of adapting. It's a great environment, casual family friendly and the food is good. We especially love the wings, in fact I got 6 dozen wings for a party once and I can get their wings about every couple of months and they're always very good. Their salads are also good as is their brisket and beer selection. My only complaint is their pizza is not the greatest, kind of average -- as the surrounding area has numerous pizzerias this is probably not their primary wheelhouse. Whenever a restaurant has such a large and varied menu I was wonder if it's not best for them to focus on one or two specific types of food and do them super well. My sister and I wanted to try this place because of their burgers. We came and got takeout sadly when we get home her burger was soggy, fries supper soggy and greasey, didn't eat the burger took some bites and felt queezy, dogs didn't even get it went to the garbage bin. My meal was soggy as well, if you eat here you have to do in person otherwise takeout or grub hub the condensation makes the meal unappetizing. Stopped in this place with my fiance when we came into town on Friday night. Stopped in around 8pm. We sat in the bar area right away. Pretty large bar with all of the bar seating in the middle of the room. It was surrounded by booths and lot top tables, which I thought was a pretty cool set up. Tons of TVs, great place to catch a game. I had the veggie wrap for dinner with the regular fries. It was actually very yummy. Chunks of feta and artichoke, and the dressing was very good! First time here and the atmosphere is perfect. The way the place was build, the sound distribution is spot on! Spacious seating with both booths and tables. The bar in the middle is stocked but not obnoxious. Food was good. I personally did not have french fries but 3 of my family members did and wanted me to comment that they definitely could be warmer. They felt their sandwiches probably hung out in the kitchen waiting for my pizza and that's why they were cold. Or I have worked at places where the fries are cooked way ahead of time and just hang out under a heat lamp and then get slapped on the plate. So maybe just make sure your fries are hot. The sandwiches were good and my pizza was also good. I will comment that I came here specifically for a deep dish pizza-I bypassed Lou Malnati's to come here-and THIS PLACE NO LONGER COOKS DEEP DISH PIZZA!!! Make sure you know that before you come here!! I would have not come had I known, but we drove all the way from Iowa and my family was hungry so we stayed. First of all, this one-star review HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH OUR SERVER. Our server, Kaylee C (if the receipt has the correct server listed, which this place seems to have totally inconsistent things in writing than actually apply in real life) was a SWEETHEART and TRIED VERY HARD despite false advertising on the menu and two rude managers who took exactly the wrong tone. Here's what happened: Two managers decided to treat me like I was a piece of garbage for simply trusting that "ALL SHOTS $5.00" [and I specifically asked if that REALLY MEANT "ALL shots $5.00, even Top Shelf" from the outset], and the ONLY qualifier given is "except, like, a lemon drop" (which I wouldn't expect to be included anyway). "All shots" should mean anything, including expensive liquor. That's kind of the point of the promotion, isn't it? Otherwise that's a bait-and-switch, or at the very least extremely misleading. Luckily for these people, I'm not an alcoholic, so I didn't get belligerent and raise my voice. I simply told the managers that it felt extremely misleading and that they ought to add an asterisk to that Saturday Special because I can't imagine this is the first time this has come up. I need to admit that I was surprised at first when I did ask and was told that indeed all shots were $5, and even followed up with "even top shelf?" And was assured "yes". When I tried to take full advantage of such a "generous special" (ON PAPER), and was told by two separate managers, the second more rude and derisive than the first, that "it should be COMMON SENSE THAT WE'RE NOT POURING A $35 SHOT FOR $5!" it raised my eyebrows, but I remained indifferent even though my wife was pretty offended by the managers' tone. Also, the food wasn't anything special. In fact, it was extremely BLAND. If anything, I'd actually say it was worse than average quality, even for a bar. At the end of the meal, the manager attempted to smooth things over and was trying to be nice, and while we weren't ever rude to anyone at the establishment, we knew that we wouldn't ever be back. We didn't hold the bad experience against our n server because she was THE only bright spot about the entire outing. In fact, to drive home the point, I ended up tipping over 40% so that we would hopefully drive home the point that she was appreciated while it was management who were out of line. The tone, when something like this happens, shouldn't be combative. It should be "hey, we are very sorry... We *know* that the menu *says* all shots $5, but if we honored that for shots that normally sell at 7 times that amount, we would be losing money like crazy. We hope you understand." If that had been the case, and that had been Management's response, this review would never have been left. But customers should know that this establishment has bad quality food, rude management, and fundamentally deceptive marketing. There are plenty of other places nearby, you can rest assured that you're not missing anything if you skip this place. Lastly, my wife and I would still like to thank Kaylee for treating us like human beings and paying customers despite her obviously easily-upset managers. read more

Came here on a Friday night planning to get dinner and drinks. The place was busy and we stood in the front of the restaurant while 3+ employees try to decide if they could seat us at one of their 5 person tables. After all this they decide that they can not and they tell us that there is a full menu at the bar. I have had issues with this place in the past always being out of the first two beers I pick. I will not be returning here ever again. They no longer deserve my business It was one of the U shaped booths that I believe you could only get 5 people in comfortably. This place is great! My husband and I went a few times after they re-opened from the initial lockdown and really lied our food. The servers were always very friendly and attentive (offering food suggestions when asked), and the specials are great. The Sunday nacho deal is so worth it! When your slogan is: "Anything but your average sports bar," you better live up to it. I mean, HOW can you be "anything but your average sports bar" when you're a sports bar? What makes you better? More beers on tap? More TVs? Pub 56 IS your average sports bar. And that's ok; there's nothing wrong with that. We came for lunch after visiting a nearby farm for all-things-pumpkin. It's a vast space with tons of tables and even more TVs. The beer list is large and impressive. There are flights available, beer cocktails, numerous drafts, etc. From the beer front, this place deserves 5 stars. But the food and service weren't up to par. Our server was friendly and chipper, but absent. She took my wife's flight order and walked away without asking me if I wanted anything to drink. Despite the place being nearly empty, it took way too long to get our drinks. And then took an even longer time for her to come over (because our drinks were delivered by the bartender) and get our order. We ordered a sampler plate (loaded potato skins, cauliflower 'wings' and fried pickles.) The saddest, deep-friend mess came out of the kitchen. "Where are the cauliflower wings?" I asked. Oh.... they weren't 'wings' at all, but tiny nubs of cauliflower with more batter than substance. No flavor, just oil. The pickles were good, better than the cauliflower, but the potato skins were simply boats of grease. We ordered sans bacon, so there wasn't much anything 'loaded' about them. Cheese? Meh. It was time to go when our daughter had had enough. But we couldn't find our server. She wasn't at the wait stand or bar, at another table, or anywhere visible for that matter. I ended up taking our baby to the car while my wife waited to pay the check. There probably aren't many sports bars around this area of Aurora, so maybe it's a great fit for the locals. Great menu with an expansive array of food. We enjoy their pizza the most but I've also had sandwiches here. The beer menu is equally impressive for a bar this size. The waitress offered a new order. She took it but threw it in the garbage. When she called the manager the next day she was totally rude. She told her that it was what they cook from the distributor. We stopped in here for a drink late on a Sunday night. It was moderately crowded, but plenty of seats. There are numerous beer offerings on tap. I wouldn't say I was impressed with the beer list, but it was certainly well above what you'd find at most places. It's all modern and sporty inside. And loud. They definitely pump the music here, despite it mostly being more of a restaurant. There are TVs absolutely everywhere. You can watch the big game of the day from anywhere you sit. The food here is mediocre at best , it's a cute place with a nice sports-bar look!, however, the entire atmosphere changes when a particular ( short , blond) manager is on duty . She makes customers uneasy with constant stars, and I have even heard her say rude comments to fellow guest! Her employees all seem so nervous when she is around. I would give this establishment at least 3 stars if they had decent management. Again, You have no business in the service industry, I really hope your patrons are not reading you unhinged responses, So very sad and unprofessional. We discovered Pub 56 in mid January and have been going in once or twice a week since then. The service is always great, food delicious. We love the buffalo shrimp and chili fries! The chili fries!!! Wings are Delicious too. We have yet to explore the menu more but we tend to get stuck on favorites. I have turned my Tuesday nights into Margarita nights since discovering Pub 56. read more

By the way Angie.... Next time instruct your server to separate the daily specials on one bill and the items necessary to qualify the coupon on another bill. This is what would be most beneficial to your customer and allow them to receive the discounts they should've received. Then just explain to customer it was best to split into two bills to get best discount while you figure out how to get computer updated. And quit arguing with every customer that gives you a bad review or makes any kind of complaint. I've seen a couple of your responses (Angel F.) to various reviews. The running theme seems to be you refusing to accept any responsibility, blaming the customers and being told to learn some customer service habits. Such an improvement from the place that used to be here! Pub 56 was the perfect halfway point for Courtney C. and I. Even though Pub 56 is in Aurora, it's basically Batavia, and halfway between Wheaton and the west side of Aurora. Pub 56 is beer, cocktails, bar food, and sports. The bar positioned in the center of the restaurant is eye-catching, and the restaurant is quite spacious for large groups. There are TVs everywhere to catch up on the sports. There are local brews and some expected choices on the menu, which does not disappointed. I had a Green Line, while Courtney C. tried a beer brewed by Two Brothers especially for Pub 56. The Chipotle Peach wings were outstanding. The flavor wasn't too spicy, and the coating on the wings was done well. I did have the boneless wings, but the traditional wings are a good size. We also shared some pretzel bites. There's nothing bad about pretzel bites and cheese! During Lent, they also have a fish fry. The service was great. We didn't feel neglected or pressured to vacate the table when we finished. This is a good casual spot to relax even if you aren't in the mood for a sports bar. This is a nice improvement over the prior JJ's which we also liked. I liked the layout of the bar at JJ's better(this one is straight rather than curved) but everything else looks much nicer and classier now. There is a large assortment of draft and bottled beers, decent selection of wines and about 10 signature cocktails. Our bartender, Neecy, made the most delicious French Martini that I've ever had. I can't wait to come back and try some of the others. We ordered the appetizer sampler with pretzel bites, cauliflower wings and fried Brussels sprouts.
