Tarps are fine; they seem to be about 12 mils. Response from company as long as one is purchasing is also very good. The rip off come when PTM advertises a 6x8 tarp for about $7 and it's about $14 to ship. I took the exact same package to the post office to check postage and it did not cost nearly that. They don't use Flat Rate. The cost to mail is close to double or more for the product. A technique PTM uses to pull one in thinking one has a good deal - when in fact, they nail one checking out with the so-called "mailing" charge. read more

unfortunately the tarp i ordered - which is non-returnable - has ripped in 2 of the 4 corners and the single stitched hem is coming undone as well. i sew and know how easy it is to reinforce a stitch of a corner to ensure a long lasting product and yet little to no reinforcement was made. ps. ive only had the tarp up for 1 month. read more

PTM and A1 Tarps ARE THE SAME. Long time customer however only for replacement of canopy valance cover. TRIPLE check your order...If open they won't refund or exchange. Tarp replacement grommets from top valance to side panels do not measure up 18" apart as stated. Checked online and called to make sure they close at 5, both said yes. Arrived around 4:15, had to wait in line for about 15 minutes. 5 minutes into me waiting in line they locked the doors and were shooing away other customers, it was 4:20 when this happened. When I finally got assisted, I asked to buy a tarp and the frame. I was told i can't get the frame today, that i can buy it and pick it up tomorrow. When asked why I can't get it right now, they responded with "we don't get frames ready after 4:30". I then asked, Then why do you post you close at 5? They said "we're working on it". In my head I was thinking what does that mean, he then asked someone (who I'm pretty sure is his manager) what they can do and the manager said just tell them to come back tomorrow. I can hear every word he's saying and he's acting like I'm not there. Yea, I think it's time for a new manager. Either change your hours or do your job until your posted closing time. Poor service. Purchased and paid for items and was assured that all items were on hand at location. When came time to receive items...was pointed to the stack of pipes and was told to load them my self ( 17pcs. 15feet long ). The employee did not pull the pipes and place them on the cart for counting as they normally for the orders. Then halfway through loading my items. I'm told that 8 pcs cannot found. Employee wanted to substitute items for smaller thickness than quality of what was purchased. Waited 20 mins after I was told items weren't available then I was told I needed to drive to their Carson warehouse location. Meanwhile I'm still waiting for my other items in hand my customer representative starts working on other customers orders before completing my order. We arrived at 11am left their store on Paramount at 2pm. We arrive at a 2nd location in Carson warehouse waited 45 mins and again they don't have my 8 pics of pipe to complete my order they sent me now to a 3rd location in Compton. This is the type of service I get, after spending $1500 for a canopy. Very unhappy with their service, I don't think I'm coming back to purchase a 2nd canopy. read more

Ordered a tarp for a big project. Didn't open it until after their 30 day return policy ended. When I finally did, I found a tarp that wasn't rectangle at all. One side was longer than the opposite side... it even had an extra grommet. Too bad I didn't build a trapezoid patio cover! When I reached out, they took days to respond and then simply said that they wouldn't do anything about it. Of course they could do something about it if they stood by their products. Went to buy a tarp to cover a gazebo, gave measurements 10 X 10 all around and 6 feet from top of gazebo to top. Recommended a 10 X 8 that did not fit and when called back to inform they said no return or refund on open items that they recommended wrong tarp. read more

Would like to give them 4 stars, but just can't do it. I found this place on the net. I was looking for canopy to put on the side of my house to give my dogs some shade. Walk in was greeted by some guy but as I was explaining my project, Ivette can in and drew up what I needed. I explain to Ivette, this is my first so take your time and explain all the different parts. She did and she was great and patient with me and all my questions. The reason not 4 stars is that they gave me 3 poles that was the wrong size. I didn't realize it until I had put the canopy together and trying to install it between my house and the fence. Had to tear it all down, remove the 3 poles and drive back to get the correct poles. There was no issues with exchanging the poles. read more

Stay away. Far away. Grossly exaggerated over the shade their mesh tarps provide. I called and spoke to customer service, told them exactly what the use was for and that I lived locally in SoCal. I was directed to the exact product that would fit our needs. Ordered online. Here is the description: "Each tarp provides up to 73% shade protection with an approximate 27% light allowance while providing passage of air, water, and sun through its filtered fiber." When I received the product I had to open the bag and unfold the tarp to even look at it, let alone hang it. However, since I opened the bag the product is no longer returnable according to the rude customer service department. There is no way to inspect the merchandise w/out opening the packaging. This place is rigged...once they have your money your are out of luck. This place is a scam. Stay away. read more

After being in business 33 years and working with vendors all over the world, I was shocked with the level, of lack thereof, of Customer Service from the Manager at PTM. We order 100 to 200 3/4" foot pads every 60 days and was looking for a new supplier and ordered a sample of the 3/4" Mini Foot Pad for $1.05 and was quoted $11.72 for UPS shipping charges. We are 40 miles away from their warehouse and thought the charge was a bit high for the size of the product purchased. I called to increase the order to 3 samples, the product cost was $3.15 total and was told that the shipping for UPS Ground would now be $35.16. The 3 items in total weight less then 2lbs and are very small in size. After shipping items for years, I know this could not be the cost from UPS and asked if we could use our own UPS billing number and was told no. Chatted about the fact that we were sourcing products from new vendors and wanted to see if they could verify the $35.16 by asking for the box size and weight and was told no. Flat out no, "I won't tell you the box size or weight and if you want the item you could either pick it up or pay the $35.16." Very sad that someone would treat a potential client this way even after explaining the situation. Looks like a great company and would have loved to give them our business read more

THERE SHOULD BE A NEGATIVE RATING FOR THIS COMPANY OF -5 STARS, THAT'S FIVE BELOW zero. Find another place to do business with. The metal is supposed to be galvanized but half of it rusts immediately, the bungee ties ROT QUICKLY in the sun needing constant replacement, the tarps are defective and GOOD ONLY HALF THE TIME, and tend to tear from the wind within weeks. The wind mind you will rip them. What kind of protection is that. Terrible customer service. They do not respond in a timely manner, IF AT ALL. They have no warranty on the product, and half of the product is defective. I believe they're importing product from China. After weeks and weeks of contact and emails, and photos, they still have not contacted me or sent the replacement product. I finally called again. They were never going to notify me. After calling again, they finally informed me they're not going to do anything to help me because I had the tarp longer than 30 days. (but no warranty anyway). But why weeks of requesting photos, not responding etc. They knew right away the date of purchase. This is bad business, and not customer service at all. I will never purchase from them again, and I advise you to find another vendor. Save yourself some grief, buy elsewhere. read more

So far the customer service is not good. After emailing them and getting no response, I called the 800# Spoke to Peter who was no help so I asked to speak to his supervisor. Liz came on the line I asked my questions she could not answer. The issue was shipping cost over $200.00. I asked what the weight and dimensions of the order were. Liz told me that information was CONFIDENTIAL. I told her I had a Top Secret clearance but that didn't impress her. So I asked to speak to her supervisor. She told me I could send an email. In the first line above you can see why I am on the phone in the first place. The worst customer service ever, I would give them 2 stars but I just can't do it. PS: I searched for the owner of PTM and A1 Tarp (Same company) and I believe it is Mat Roberts. I sent him an email and no response from him either. Don't bother going to the Compton store since they were of no help at all and you have to wait around until they bring you the products. Now, go to the Paramount store and the manager there, Yvette is awesome. She's an absolute gem, very sweet, helpful, and she knows their products. I told her I wanted to expand my canopy and she knew exactly which parts I needed, unlike when you call the 800 # and the Compton store. Save yourself the headache and go to Yvette. 5 stars to her.
