I am lovin' on P.S. Lounge. A few weekends ago, my date and I were enjoying ourselves after a nice meal out and wanted to continue the conversation. I'd been hesitant to go into P.S. Lounge (despite my INTENSE love of dive bars) because I couldn't feel out if it was a place that old people sit and gripe, or a delightful dive. Solution: It's a delightful dive. Upon ordering our first round of drinks, we were immediately also given a free shot of the day - something girly and delectable that I can't remember the name of. I excused myself to the restroom, and upon my return there was a single stem rose waiting by my drink. At first, I thought my date had really gone above and beyond in trying to impress me, but when I looked around the room I realized all the ladies had one. The owner, Pete, had delivered a rose to each woman in the bar during my absence. How nice! My date and I ended up striking up a conversation with Pete about the bar and he ordered us more free shots. As if the cheap price of our drinks wasn't enough incentive to stay and keep drinking! The only downside is that P.S. Lounge is cash only. Come prepared! The nearest ATM is in the sketchy liquor store down the street - not a place I wanted to stop in at 10 at night. read more

The owner harassed us because we had a service dog. So much so we left because he ruined our evening and he wasn't going to stop. He was clearly ignorant of the laws around disabled and service animals. We will never go back and will encourage others not to either. read more

The ultimate 5 star joint. This, my friends, is the real deal. It's cool without trying, it's cheap, the drinks are great and you're greeted as family the minute you walk in the door. One of America's great bars. Long may it rule. read more

We came from out of town and this was the best bar out of the gate. Super friendly and great drinks. Would definitely recommend to everyone. Great dive bar p.s. Lacy is the best bartender in the game. read more

Wow! I can't believe that I haven't been in this bar after living in the Denver area for 12 years, yet now went two times within a week. The first time I went there very friendly bartender and the owner Pete was there. Second time it was earlier in the day so I had the please of getting the full experience with Pete bartending. Drinks are inexpensive and have a great pour. Got my two roses and my Alabama Slammer shot the 2nd day. I love dive bars and this definitely fit the bill and pretty much anyone will feel welcome and like you belong (and have been coming there forever). Pete is from Greece as well as I had family there and he helped me brush up on the minimal Greek I know. Just a great all around joint (also has a pool table...and apparently a juke box which I didn't see since I was belly up at the bar) . Just remember to bring cash for the drinks (which I think helps keep the cost of the drinks so reasonable) and you can order a pizza from the place next door who will bring it right to you in the bar (they take cards). Enjoy! read more

It was a nice touch to get a rose when you sit down. Girls love gifts! I loved getting a rose for no reason besides the fact I came in and sat down. Then they give you a free shot to go with your first round. It has an old juke box with great tunes. Dive bar and kinda hipster feel. Mary the bartender is awesome! read more

PS Lounge - Dive Bars Near Me - Denver, Colorado

First time in my life going here. As soon as I walked in I was kicked out. Nobody else was in there except loud crickets. It was early in the day and I had just walked in straight from my hotel. What in the actual F*&^?? Bad management. Bad judgement. Badly run. Bad treatment of people from out of town for no good reason. I will not be back. read more

Was looking for a bar near Lost Lake this Friday night to meet up with some friends before a show. Noticed that PS Lounge was literally right next door and had to give it a try. I'm all about dive bars, and the diveyer the better in my opinion. This place is awesome. When I walked in and sat down at the bar, the bartender gave me a rose, and a shot on the house! I was all about this. Then when I went to pay for our drinks, the two beers were $7.50. That's what I'm talking about! Ended up coming back here after the show and it was pretty crowded, but decided to stay for a PBR and talk about what food we wanted to eat. Basically, if you're in the area, you should drop in and see for yourself! read more

PS Lounge - Dive Bars Near Me - Denver, Colorado

We loved this place! My co-worker did some research as to where to go when in Denver and came up with this place. We came in on a Monday night and were greeted by the bartender who asked if we had ever been in and welcomed us. She said ladies get a rose (nice little touch) and everyone there for the first time gets a shot. (Not bad for a free shot) The drinks are cheap, the atmosphere was a great dive bar with a great jukebox and the bartender was so cool. I don't remember her name, but she was awesome! There were only a few people at the bar and a couple in a booth when we were in around 11. I'll definitely make a stop in here next time I'm in Denver. read more

4.5 stars to be exact. What a great little bar, love the location, love the drinks, and I love the rose I get every time I walk in. They have great drinks here. Plus, with your first drink you always get a complimentary fruity shot! They don't serve food but will let you order pizza from Enzo's, next door. The pizza is very yummy but not going into their review here. And the drinks are very nicely priced. They always have some liquor on special which makes the drinks even more economic. The service is great! The bartenders are mostly very friendly and helpful. All the ladies get a complimentary rose when they first walk in, fun! The decor is very old school but interesting. You literally want to go around and see everything that is up. They have an old jukebox and pool tables. Parking is on the street mostly but not too hard to find. We live blocks away and make a stop here a couple of times a month! Only downside: No cash or ATM, come with the green in your pocket or walk a few blocks to the ATM. What makes this place great is Pete. He is always friendly and really tries to meet everyone in there. He has had this place for some time and if you want the story, just sit with him at the bar and let him chat you up about who has been there. If you haven't been and looking for an interesting place to make a stop, make sure to add this to your list! read more

PS Lounge is what a bar should be. Everyone there is about as friendly as they come, and when you're in there, you get the sense that not much has changed in the last 30 years... The proprietor, Pete, hands out a rose to every gal that arrives, and the first cocktail is always accompanied by an on the house shot - usually something light, fruity , and tasty. It's not a big club, or large pub, so don't expect it to be a meat market. There is a pool table and a jukebox, booth seating, and just enough fun memorabilia to make it a fun stop. read more

Love this place. Bar staff is always on top of it...and you can't go wrong with a free mystery shot and a rose. There is always music playing on the jukebox...and it's the good kinda music. Aretha, Cash, etc. Cash only bar which kinda sucks, but I totally get why they do it. This place is an absolute Denver staple. Pete is around often and always makes us feel at home there. read more

I do not leave reviews, but this place warrants the lowest review and the most negative attention as possible. Please do not spend your money here. There are plenty of better bars steps away ( Middle Man and Bastiens across the street) that deserve support. After reading other reviews of people who experienced the same ignorant behavior and judgement from the owner ( and bartender who enforces it) this place does not deserve to be in business. read more

Very cool dive bar. Like if someone tried to open a diner in their living room then decided to make it a bar. Jukebox, pool table, single occupancy bathrooms, cash only. Connected to the pizza place next door for food. read more

Have you ever wanted to grow (more) hair on your chest? Then PS Lounge -- a neighborhood bar where you'll randomly get shots of tequila from the owner -- is calling your name. Things to know: ***** I. LOCATION & PARKING: PS Lounge resides in a sleepy neighborhood with plenty of parking. The building is also easily identifiable from the street. II. DRINKS & PRICES: Rail drinks, pints, and shots -- whatever your heart deserves it won't break the bank. I drank a few whiskey gingers, and they didn't skimp out on the alcohol. III. SERVICE: Did I mention tequila shots? The owner dropped by and provided complimentary shots. So he won my heart that night. IV. AMBIENCE & DECOR: Wood paneling, album covers of vinyl records, faux-leather booths -- it's my kind of jam. It's also cleaner than it looks. Also, the folks from the neighborhood sit at the bar and the joint blasts some old school rock! V. OVERALL: If I lived in Denver, I would visit regularly. read more

Visited this bar while meeting a friend of mine between LA and Chicago. I couldn't be happier with this bar. It was chilly outside and upon walking in it was warm and inviting. I received a rose and we both received free shots when we sat down. A patron introduced us to the owner who came over and bought the three of us a shot. It was so kind. Then, we went to the pool room and met the nicest people in Colorado. I felt so happy and relaxed there and everyone was beyond friendly. It is cash only, so keep that in mind, but wow. What an awesome experience. 100% going there when I visit Denver again. read more

This bar is great! They give roses to the ladies! How fun! We've been here two times and loved it but our severs have been really rude. I think that's the dive-bar vibe here? The second time we were here, the server was REALLY sick, and I think company should have a better sick day policy for the employees & wait staff. No one with the flu should be serving in public. read more

Crafted cocktails, a long list of craft beer, modern technology - think again because you ain't getting it here but that's not to say that you won't have a ton of fun at the PS Lounge. I would consider this a finisher bar - as it is usually the last bar of the night that I visit before hitting the hay. It has a charm about it that I have not been able to put my finger on anywhere else in Denver. It's dark. It's outdated. It's cheap. It's cozy. Five dollars for an old fashioned? Yes, please! One dollar for 3 songs from the jukebox (the old school one, nothing digital can be found here, minus the cell phone that you bring in). A free rose for the ladies and a free shot that is poured for you as soon as you place your order. This is my kind of place. The PS Lounge is conveniently located on Colfax Ave - one of the oldest streets in the city (Denver's lost highway) and is walking distance of a distinctive mix of old and new school businesses. So cozy up with a drink, order some pizza from Enzo's (the pizzeria that is attached) and enjoy a fun night out on the town. read more

Went to this bar last night with a group of friends. The bartender was really sweet but the owner kicked out only our black friend in an act of blatant racism. Everyone in our group was in a great mood and no one, including our friend who got kicked out, was belligerent or too drunk. Everyone in our group was on the same level and there was absolutely no reason for our friend to get singled out besides his race. The owner didn't even try to cover up the fact that he kicked our friend out because he's black. Absolutely will never be going there again and encourage others not to either. read more

1) I love dive bars. 2) I love dive bars that give ladies roses when they walk in. 3) I love dive bars that give ladies roses AND a free shot. Came here with my colleagues on our last night in Denver and it was buckets of fun. The drinks are cheap and simple, and the bartenders who fix them up are so lovely. They've got big booths you can sit in, a jukebox machine and a pool table. What else do you need? Make sure you've got some extra cash on hand, because it's cash only! read more

A Rose is a Rose Is A Rose Is a Rose, and So it goes this place does not Blow! This place rules! Oh my, Dive bar heaven, I just arrived. First off any girl who comes in here gets a rose from the bar, and every patron get's a shot! That's a good way to get things started. They have a great jukebox blasting classic rock tunes, and the beer was delicious and cold. And hell I didn't have to pay for any of it. My co workers took care of it cause it was cash only and I was only rocking the cards on this night! I guess I got drinks earlier and the fancy pants place and 3 drinks here at PS Lounge were only 10 bucks! At one point the owner came out and made sure we were having a good time and had the wonderful bartender come over and give us another free shot.. After a couple beers, a couple shots, Skynyrd was starting to sound as good as The Stones... well not quite. read more

This is a great bar! CASH ONLY! A classic, no bull, pay as you go establishment, with great drinks for an affordable price. If we lived closer this would be my top choice for libations. If you're a lady they put a rose by you. The ambiance and realness, are refreshing, especially given the lodo, and gentrification of old Denver. Thankfully a few gems like this have lasted through this tornado, of uppity singularity. Cheers, and hopeful thoughts that it continue to be a presence on Colfax for many years to come. read more

I want to preface this by saying that I love PS Lounge. It has been one of the most inviting locations that my partner and I like to frequent. Tonight was a total s*it show. It took 15 minutes before my partner went to the bar to grab our drinks - every time we've been here they've come directly to us with a rose, a shot, and to take our orders - the bartender was drunk, and it just didn't feel like the inviting bar that we are used to. But when the bartender's friends walk in, it was nothing but smiles, shots and drinks. I don't know who this new bartender is, but they totally made me and my partner feel so unwelcome to the point where we don't want to come anymore. read more

Walked in late on a Friday night to meet up with some friends. Having never been here before, I took a second to soak in my surroundings. A dive bar. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! The bartender was lovely. I've discovered Dive Bar Narnia! read more

Cute dive bar with old world racist charm! The owner, Pete (also of Pete's Kitchen) is always hanging out here, and seems like he is a bit "particular" as to who can patronize his bar and who cannot. The incident we experienced doesn't seem to be as isolated of an event as we had hoped once I was able to read other people's experiences here. I'm hoping others can use this review to help make some informed decisions and critically assess what might be going on around them. Last Saturday I met up with some friends at the PS Lounge before a show at the Bluebird. We were waiting on another friend of theirs to join us. This friend had just met someone on his way over, and apparently invited him along for a drink (or the guy invited himself, not sure). This new guy mentioned that he knew Pete doesn't serve black people and he'll probably kick them both out when they come in simply because our friend was coming in with him. Our friend is a very lighthearted and positive guy, so he naturally didn't believe it because Pete has always been so nice to the people he has been there with. He insisted they at least go and check it out, and partly because my friend wanted to see this happen with his own eyes. Sure enough, we saw our friend come in, along with this new guy. They both said hi to us at the booth we were sitting at, and then our friend went to the bar to get a beer (for himself). The bartender was handing him a beer just as Pete walked over and grabbed the beer out of his hand and said that they weren't going to serve him. The exact reason wasn't made very clear to our friend. He walked back over to the booth, said something about not being served, laughed a little dumbfounded, and he and this other guy walked out the door. After our friend walked out, Pete came over to our booth and was asking us something incoherent about whether we "knew that guy". We played like we didn't really understand what he was asking us, but we were pretty stunned having just witnessed the whole thing go down. Thinking back on it, we didn't see any people of color at PS Lounge that night, and my friends who go there more often said they don't think they've seen any black people there any of the other times they've been there either. It's a little strange considering the location, and the way it was handled left a lot to be desired. Updated: I was contacted by the bartender that was working that night and she wanted to explain (which is putting it mildly) what happened. "[...] isn't allowed in the bar because the last three times he has come in he has tried to get anyone that will talk to him to buy him a drink. We want our customers to be comfortable and enjoy themselves, it's hard to do that when someone is trying to mooch drinks off of you." I'm not sure how that explains why my friend was refused service when he was simply trying to buy a single drink for himself. Why not figure out the situation and then tell the guy you don't want there to leave? Kicking out everyone that you think *might* be involved with this guy you don't like being in your bar is a bit extreme. As to why people that had been going there for years realized they don't think they've ever seen a black person in PS Lounge before, her explanation was "Denver isn't necessarily an extremely diverse city, so not seeing "a black person" in the bar that night wouldn't be a surprise." Except that the bar is located in one of the more diverse areas of Denver, and it doesn't explain away the rather similar experiences of some of the other Yelp reviewers. The whole thing is off-putting, but make up your own mind and make your own observations. I'd love to be wrong about this. read more

Awesome bar and good prices. Cash only but they do have an ATM inside. We went on a Monday night and there were some people there but not crowded. Going to the P.S. Lounge is like bathing in nostalgia... The jukebox is filled with wonderful tunes from a simpler time, the ladies get flowers and everyone gets a complimentary shot, the bar is cash only, the top of the walls are lined with the coolest vintage football helmets you could imagine, and pictures on the wall evoke thoughts of the Rat Pack and John Wayne. My grandfather would have frequented this place in his prime had he lived in Denver, that's for sure. Add the fact that you can order Enzo's End pizza from next door and eat it in your comfortable booth while Elvis looks down on you and you've got a magical evening that doubles as one of my favorite dates with Tiffany. read more

So today at my place of employment the boss decided it was time to stop the cell cultures and protein experiments and go for a drink. This place is close to said place of employment, so we moseyed on over P's way. Us 6 were the only ones in there at 3:30, and the owner P(ete) served us some standard brew. The boss handed him $40, he gave back a $20 and asked if my boss wanted more change. The drinks for 6 were definitely worth $20 so we were happy to decline. He then gave us all a free shot of an Alabama Slammer (did I detect tang?). Never had one and was quite good....after about 30 minutes of shootin' the shit with the boss, he came back and gave everyone another free round...?! Simply awesome. 5/5 for sure. read more

Awe. Some. (Thanks again, Yelp. Wouldn't have thought to pop my head in if not for your very accurate and thoughtful direction.) Tricia and I had a few INCREDIBLY reasonably priced cocktails in what has become (after a solitary visit) my favorite Dive Bar in the greater Denver Area. Pete is as cool as "all get out" (as you like to say), the walls are filled with snapshots of happiness from years passed and the customers are as colorful as they should be. Wood paneling, pizza delivered from next door, $4 Stranahan's Whiskey, a rose from a gentleman for my lovely lady, a jukebox the way one should be, free shots of Alabama Slammers... Wow-ee. I love this place. read more

Hands-down, my favorite bar in Denver. I used to live 5 blocks away, and I can't tell you how many times I stumbled home from this place (no really, I can't tell you... I have no idea). You can tell a lot about a bar by it's jukebox. At the PS, the music on the juke is varied, but it never ever changes. Just like the PS. It's the quintessential neighborhood bar, and the patrons are as varied as the people who live around (and above) it. Neighborhood drunks, pre and post Bluebird showgoers, Colfax freaks, LoDo service industry workers just getting off work, and Colfax pub crawlers deciding to get "adventurous" after one shot too many at the Goosetown. And you know what? It all works. The PS has always been a place that, no matter if it's empty or standing room only, I could go in, grab a spot, and feel comfortable. It's the type of place that no matter what your scene is, the person sitting next to you is likely to strike up a conversation. Everyone's welcome here, and a lot of the credit for that goes to the proprietor, Pete (no, not THAT Pete, though he gets that a lot). Pete is usually floating around, talking to the regulars, and making sure everything is as it should be. He's a good guy to get to know, as you're likely to get a free round of shots the next time he recognizes you. And yes, there's the free Alabama Slammers (aka alcoholic Tang) and the roses for the ladies. It's classy, and a testament to kind of place Pete wants to preserve. So don't call it a dive, ok? Cheers! read more

What, what, what? How can I not have written a review of PS Lounge? It's one of my favorite divey Denver bars. Wow. I'm shocked at myself! Although it's a kinda long walk from my apartment, it's not too bad if I need a place to chill with my buds, have a beer and some slices from Enzo's, or shoot some pool. There's a killer jukebox filled with classics, and if Pete is in there, he'll often spot you a few bucks to fill it up. Look for the older gentleman in a track jacket, usually, hanging out at the bar and watching tv or listening to the juke. When you order, you'll get a complimentary Alabama slammer and if you're a lady, you'll also get a rose. Although this struck me as cheesy at first, the last few times I've been in there I've actually stuck my precious rose in water and hung onto it for a few days. (You can tell your friends that some dashing guy at the bar gave it to you.) A few things: the bathrooms are, well, frankly, kinda raunchy, and I discovered if you forget your ID (this happened to a friend of mine) you'll be immediately booted to Enzo's. Don't expect to be able to hang out in the pool room. Nice to know they take that id thing seriously! PS: It's cash only, so stock up before you go. The closest atm's are at Lost Lake Lounge, or the liquor store right next to LLL. Be prepared! read more

I've made the drive past PS Lounge hundreds of times to frequent the many unoriginal bars of downtown, however, I finally made my bar traveling miles much abbreviated by finally stopping in at this joint. I met up with a few friends here on a Friday evening and found the interior exactly as I expected. Dim lighting, jukebox, side room with a pool table, photos of regulars on the walls, and brown leather booths. Must say that the complimentary shot and the flowers for the ladies is a nice touch. Needless to say, we were quite certain the complimentary orange shot was absent of alcohol, but hey, it's still a nice gesture. What really was most appealing was Pete's hospitality. Whether he overheard our comments on the liquorless fruit punch shots or whether he is always looking to gratify customers, he offered up a supplemental round of free shots to our table that were indeed infused with a lot of liquor. Also, his management skills are exceptional as when we had a fifth member of a party arrive at a four person booth, he quickly helped us play booth swap with a single couple occupying a six person booth by the juke box. My only qualms on this trip to PS Lounge is the fact that they only accepted cash. At this day in age, people including myself rarely carry cash. Patrons without cash have to venture, as we did, down to Goosetown where there exists the closest ATM. Not sure it's in their best interest to inconvenience customers and send them into the arms of competition. But maybe the complimentary shot is their way of alluring them back. read more

This place smelled like dirty feet. BUT. They gave me a free rose and (hint to boyfriend) I cant resist the charm of some murdered plant sex organs. The bartender forewarned us that the bar was cash only and we had enough cash to avoid the block-long trek to find an ATM somewhere. We also received a free shot each of something akin to spiked commodity orange juice. It wasn't that good but it was free and I can't complain. Applause for the very friendly attentive bartender! I would definitely hit up this place again, especially on a long weekend bender. read more

Do you know those big huge sunglasses in the late '70's/early 80's everyone was wearing? Now they're in style again. THAT'S what PS Lounge is. It reeks (literally an figuratively) of the '70's. It's ideal for both sexes, because a guy can take his gal in there, and looks good because she gets a rose. Ladies feel wonderful going out and getting a rose. Fantastic gimmick, really. Also, you get a free shot if you can stand. When Pete's behind the bar, he is the most gregarious business owner that ever lived. The last time I was there I splurged on my favorite gin, Hendrick's, and tonic. He gave me one for free. Just like that. All the barkeeps pour a great drink, and those shots go down like candy. It's a mixed crowd for a dive bar, but everyone interacts well and it's one big happy family, whether in a booth, the bar, or the pool table. read more

Cruised in on a Sunday night (8.25.19) and the bartender was super sweet. Like a total clown, I insta-spilled my Elijah Craig pour as soon as I sat down. She didn't make me feel stupid and I appreciated that lol. Cool place, great prices, great service. read more

Trouble. T is for Trouble. P.S. Lounge = Trouble. The Best Kind! God love this place and Pete and all his fine, sassy staff. All the black velvet art, Greek memorabilia, smoke stained kitsch. This is where old school classiness survives, where the ladies get a rose just for walking in the door and everyone gets a free shot on the house of their signature orange/peachy sampler. You're on your own from here with some stiff cocktails - but bring the cash. No cards at this joint. Slide in a booth, throw some money in the juke box and soak in the best bar on Colfax. A long time ago, I used to spend a little too much time at the PS Lounge. It's been a while, but last night brought me back, in full effect. We were at the Bluebird for De La Soul, which brought us to the PS both before and after. It's as great as it ever was. It was a perfect evening of reclaiming old times. NOTHING has changed in the last decade. Well, there's a new "Walk the Line" poster between the restrooms. Other than that, nothing has changed. There's still a beautiful bartendress, albeit a different one. Pete is still quite generous with shots. The vintage photos are still in place. Bourbon cocktails are still ridiculously strong for the price. I still neglected to bring enough cash with me. (No cards accepted here) The juke is still loaded with some seriously great stuff. We punched in an odd mix of Tom Jones, the Clash and the Cure that seemed absolutely perfect for our booze-infused reminiscing. The PS Lounge is timeless, and truly one of Denver's best drinking-class bars. I'm glad to add another five star recommendation to the many already on Yelp. read more

6+ drinks for $8... Came here based on ya'lls recommendations. Actually someone casually mentioned it in a Tommy's Thai review. I had no intention of coming here, just wanted to go somewhere new and was driving in the general direction of it so we stopped. There was some heavy petting going on when we first rolled in. Literally every booth was full of folks necking. Awesome. The bartender was super friendly and seemlingly bored. In addition to the alabama slammers, she was making up any other shot we wanted on the house. She gave me $2 to pick some jams on the jukebox. The owner Pete came out and we talked to him a bit then he bought us drinks. That was fun. Will return for sure. read more
